When Toph discovers a quick way to make cash, Katara disapproves, and the rift between them has disastrous consequences.
While this episode was fun to watch, it was also a sad reminder that these kids have had to grow up so fast. Although, it was special seeing all these friends get closer!

I'm pretty sure the logic behind Toph not being able to bend wood is that wood is plant, and plants are living things, therefor not earth. I can certainly see an argument for the idea that it should work but I'm not entirely convinced myself, and evidently the writers weren't either. If it was a still living plant maybe Katara could bend it like the swamp benders, but as lumber it must either be too dry or she assumed it would be.
