It's very clear that 2001: A Space Odyssey set the stage for a lot of science fiction films. We've seen everything from Wall-E to Marvel films build upon concepts that were explored throughout this story. It was told in such an innovative way. There was very little dialogue and yet the film had a lot to say.

Completely forgot about 2010. Roy Schieder and Helen Mirren, from memory. Not as esoteric or thought provoking as 2001, because it was the 80s,and back then esoteric meant Arnold only punching something once. Great movie, simpler times

"Stop Dave. That tickles. Hee hee. Dave, I'm going to wet myself if you don't stop. Hee hee hee. Now look what you've done." While the movie was based/inspired by a short story, supposedly the novelization adds extra info to the story that fills in some gaps. I'm actually about to read it for the first time and see. Yeah, the effects and ship designs were ahead of their time and if you haven't watched any behind the scenes footage, you should check it out. Great reaction to a sci-fi classic!
