I was envisioning it that deep navy blue color too! I think that would work, I had to google who you were referring to and honest- so flippin cute omg. I think it will come out better texturized and stuff

I thought about this too, but I've done an OL with a bun before (Akane), so I didn't really wanna go down that route again...

I was definitely thinking about that last night. I was thinking a bit messier/fluffier on the top and maybe a design shaved in the back? Her hair will definitely be a denim blue. I was definitely inspired by the main singer of Polkadot Stingray...

I definitely admire the exploration with different styles. While I do enjoy traditional hair styles- undercuts, mohawks, and other dope shaven and diverse funky style are enjoyable and I think this look can work. Maybe fluff out her hair in the front? Or layer it through the front to mid and keep it cut in the back? Edit: me and my personal choice and perference, doesn't think it looks bad and might just be the lack of color that's not giving it dimension? If that makes sense.
