hiss……
Ten fingers, only white bones left, grasped the three-foot-nine-inch blade. The bones without blood and flesh naturally could not raise the sword to fight as before.
But there is no need to stain it with blood.
When Yahiko lightly touched the ground with the tip of the blade in his hand, white light rose from the ground into the sky.
Everyone in the Sunagakure, including Rasa and Domu, seemed to be in a strange peace at this moment.
The light washed over the valley like a wave. There was no heat in the air, only warmth and holiness.
"What's this?"
It is hard to imagine that Domu still has the ability to think at this moment when covered by white light.
But this was also his last moment in this world as a living person.
At this moment, he seemed to have turned into a third-person God's perspective.
He saw himself before the war started, when he took the newborn Sasori from the doctor's hands and smiled cautiously.
He also saw himself in the photo of their family, four years after the war, in which Sasori was curled up in an empty room with a photo of his family in his arms.
He saw himself being stubborn in carrying out the experiment even after being advised by his wife, and he also saw himself being able to perform the autopsy with an indifferent expression in the face of the civilians crying and begging for mercy.
He saw himself standing outside a laboratory full of corpses, excited about the experimental data in his hands. He also saw himself reflected in the hateful eyes of those sky ninjas in the sky...
Smile, love, madness, gloom, coldness, indifference...
Finally, it was himself who abandoned his wife's body and fled in a panic. There was only fear, hideousness, and ugliness on his face...
It was such a familiar face, but Domu felt extremely strange and disgusted.
"How did it come to this point..."
If he hadn't left Sasori alone at home to preserve his reputation, if he hadn't volunteered to come to the front lines to fight for the position of Kazekage...
If he hadn't taken the initiative to seek out the Third Kazekage for the power of the human puppet, if he hadn't ignored his wife Saori's advice in order to develop and master forbidden techniques...
Under the guidance and influence of an unknown force, regret surged into his heart like a raging wave, uncontrollably drowning him.
Sorry……
That was the moment when he felt endless regret.
Boom!
It was as if something broke and ignited inside his body, and blazing white flames covered his figure from the inside out.
Not only Domu, but the other Sand Ninjas who were covered in white light also ignited white flames in an extremely strange way at this moment.
"They all use the fire of their karma to dry up, repay their old debts, and become beasts next to them."
The general meaning of these words spoken by Yahiko is that their karmic fire burned dry the two realms of hell and hungry ghosts, so they could only be reincarnated as a beast to repay their old debts.
Karma fire, the fire of karma, refers to the fire that harms the body due to evil karma, and also refers to the fire that burns sinners in hell.
The brief moment left before death is the time left for them to regret. It is the last mercy and compassion, but also the almost ruthless sin and punishment. The more regrets one has during his lifetime, the more painful it will be.
This pain burns from the soul, spreading the flames of karma to the body until the soul and flesh are completely burned...
Snap!
The porcelain-white light column that shot up into the sky shattered, spreading a pale halo in all directions, a beautiful scene like a liquid overflowing.
In Nagato's perception, the white light only bloomed for a moment, and then shattered and dissipated in the same moment.
But when his senses recovered, he was shocked to find that Rasa behind him had turned into white human wax.
Not only Rasa, but also Domu in the distance, and the surrounding Sand Ninjas, their bodies turned into white human-shaped wax, retaining the various movements they had in life.
But what made Nagato feel a little chill in his heart was that those lifelike "wax figures" had almost identical expressions of regret on their faces.
Crack! Crack!
Nagato subconsciously broke free from Rasa's embrace behind him, and after a crisp sound, the wax figure shattered directly, and his feet crushed the gray and white brittle shell directly, and the creepy shattering sound continued.
Rasa's puppet body is made of various rare metals, but it becomes as brittle as paper after being burned by the strange white flame.
“……”
Looking at the wax figures of various shapes around him, Nagato couldn't help but twitch his eyes, and the chill in his heart became even stronger.
He didn't feel any heat at all, but when he opened his eyes, everything he saw was wasteland, and with the slightest touch, only ashes were left.
Turning his head and looking behind him through the distorted air, Nagato saw Yahiko silently gripping the hilt of the sword. The flesh on his palm had grown back and the fiery red in his eyes was gradually fading.
Perhaps it was because his body was previously filled with the warmth of the white light, and now that everything had suddenly returned to calm, Nagato felt a sense of emptiness in his heart, as if fireworks would fade away easily.
Only then did he realize that his injury had healed. It was an injury that even with his recovery ability, he could not heal in a short time...
"Is this your new power?" Nagato asked.
Although he did not know the true name of this power, he could still feel the irresistible, soul-questioning holiness that spread in an instant.
It seemed to ignite their souls, then spread to their flesh and blood, leaving only an empty shell.
"Whoosh"
Exhaling a breath of white mist, the faint pressure on Yahiko dissipated, and a silly smile reappeared on his pale face. He raised the three-foot-nine-inch sword in his hand and smiled: "It's called Hellfire, and its Shikai ability is..."
"To act on the enemy is to ignite the filth in the soul and burn the flesh in the body."
Before Yahiko could finish his words, Nagato interrupted him and said with a complicated expression, "If it works on friendly parties, it means healing the injuries of the soul and body?"
Zanpakutō? Reiatsu? Power from the soul?
Nagato had heard about this from his brother a long time ago, but he didn't think this kind of power could make Yahiko stronger than himself.
Even if Yahiko completes the breathing method to the end, it will only be enough for him to have the strength of an elite jonin. When facing a ninja with strength comparable to the Five Kage, even the breathing method plus the markings and the transparent world will not be enough.
Nagato was already surprised by the power of Yahiko's so-called "Hado" which could compete with Rasa's magnetic release technique.
As for the so-called Zanpakutō and Shikai...
This was the first time he saw Yahiko use this kind of power, and the strangeness of this power exceeded his expectations.
It acts on the soul, almost like judgment, gentle yet cold, compassionate yet ruthless.
If Yahiko can fully master this power, even if he does not have the military talent to lead a legion, he can become a high-end combat force on his own, enough to decide the victory or defeat of a small battle.
No matter how reluctant Nagato was to admit it, he could not deny that compared to the current Yahiko, he was probably already...
Thinking of this, his heart tightened and he subconsciously raised his hand and touched his eyes covered by the black cloth.
The filth of the soul?
Living in such a world, whose soul can be holy?
He is just a naive fool. Even the weapons forged by his soul are so naive and childish.
There was no way Nagato could accept that he was surpassed by a fool.
"Rinnegan..." he murmured softly.
————————
In the Land of Rain, on the mountain of a village near the river.
In the dense bushes of dry thorns, black shadows were looming.
A figure lying on a high sentry post looked down and said in a deep voice: "Captain Furatto, there seems to be movement ahead."
Furatto, who had not slept for two days and two nights due to the journey, was woken up after just taking a nap for half an hour. He looked up at his men and asked with a little caution: "What's the noise?"
"A dog barks." The man whispered, "Although the distance is too far to see clearly, I can still hear that it is injured..."
A wounded dog?
Hearing this, Furatto narrowed his eyes and thought of the big black dog next to Makoto. A gloomy look appeared on his face, and he asked, "Is that dog all black?"
The man was stunned for a moment, then looked up into the distance and saw the fleeing black shadow, as well as four figures hiding and chasing behind.
Soon, he remembered the black dog beside Makoto. His expression changed slightly and he nodded, "Yes! It should be Makoto's dog. There are four people chasing behind. They might be Konoha's ninjas!"
After confirming his guess, Furatto clenched his hands suddenly.
The first thought in his mind was that his position had been exposed, but he soon realized that Makoto could not do this.
If Makoto really revealed their whereabouts to the Konoha ninja, what they would see now would not be black dogs but a large number of enemies.
It is more likely that Makoto discovered the enemy, ventured forward to confirm, but was discovered, causing the black dog to run back to alert them.
Realizing this, Furatto's clenched palms loosened slightly, but the expression on his face became gloomy.
It is noon now, and most of the "demons" take this time to rest in the village. Only those of them who are responsible for guarding are scattered around in groups of three.
In other words, he now has only two people under him.
"Captain, what should we do?"
Another person also realized what the dog's appearance meant. He came up to Furatto, put his hand in the bag on his waist, and said in a deep voice, "Do you want to take action? Or should we go and inform Boss Yoru first?"
Furatto glanced at his hand in his waist bag and snorted, "Don't you already have a plan, Gengo?"
"Hehe." The boy called "Gengo" sneered, "Captain, you know me. I'm too lazy to use my brain. I just want to blow them away."
"You don't look like your father Gennō, who was capable of staying in Konoha as a spy." Furatto said a lecture in a light tone.
"My father is my father, and I am me." Gengo smiled indifferently, "If I were a coward, I wouldn't have followed Lord Kumokawa from Kagero Village to here."
Hearing this, Furatto looked at him deeply and sighed, "I don't know what Lord Kumokawa was thinking. He really let you come out with us."
Gennō, the "trap master" in Kagero Village who is best at setting explosive tags traps, uses the remote detonating device used for the explosive tags to create explosive tags traps that can even deceive Hyuga's Byakugan.
He is currently hiding inside Konoha to gather intelligence and arrange explosive tags. He is an important person who can deal a heavy blow to Konoha at a critical moment.
As Gennō's only son, "Gengo" should have stayed in the City of Dawn as a "hostage" as a means to make Gennō obedient.
Who would have thought that this kid would actually take the initiative to find Lord Kumokawa, hoping to go out of the city with them to meet the enemy, and Lord Kumokawa actually agreed.
What if he dies?
Furatto felt a little headache, but since he had joined the legion, there would be no special treatment. No matter who he was before, once he joined the legion he would be a soldier.
Knowing this, Furatto said in a deep voice:"This is your first time, are you sure?"
Gengo didn't say anything, but just nodded seriously with a serious look.
Furatto said no more, raised his head to look at the man on the high ground, and said: "Yoshimi, let's go and deal with those four guys and see if we can capture one alive for interrogation. You stay here and send a signal to Boss Yoru and the others."
"No problem." The man called Yoshimi was lying on the top of the slope, his eyes always on the sight eyepiece, watching the figure getting closer and closer in the distance, and responded without turning his head, "I won't let anyone escape."
——————————
"Ouch! Ouch!"
Looking at the black dog running around and howling in the ruins in the distance, Shimura Ninja, who was a little dizzy, couldn't help but curse in a low voice: "This damn dog is too familiar with the terrain of this broken place!"
As he spoke, the kunai slipped from his sleeve into his hand, and he raised his arm and threw it out.
The black dog happened to come out of a narrow pipe. Two of the three kunai he threw missed the target and were nailed to the pipe with a short sound, but one of them hit black dog’s abdomen accurately.
“Ouch!”
After a shrill and painful bark, the black dog struggled to crawl into an abandoned house.
But the moment it went in, a hand suddenly stretched out from the shadows and pinched its mouth.
“Woo woo.”
Under the grip of the hand, it struggled to make a low growl from its throat, but its nose moved, as if it smelled a familiar scent, and it began to wag its tail in an instant.
"Good dog."
A soft murmur was heard, and Furatto, who had walked out of the shadows, slowly loosened his hand, stepped back under the gaze of the black dog, and sank into the darkness again.
At the same time, Shimura Ninja and three other Konoha Ninjas followed the bloodstains dripping on the ground and looked towards the abandoned house.
"I didn't expect that chasing a dog would be so troublesome. I'll just skin you and roast you for dinner."
Shimura ninja snorted coldly and walked over, his whole body disappearing into the shadow of the house, with three Konoha ninjas guarding outside behind him.
"Run, why don't you run? Don't worry, your little master will be there to accompany you soon."
Looking down at the injured black dog curled up on the ground, Shimura Ninja walked over with a sinister grin, already imagining the roasted, greasy dog meat, but he didn't pay any attention to what was right above his head.
A pair of hands slowly and gently descended from above and reached towards Shimura Ninja's head, like raindrops falling outside the house, so light that one could not feel its presence but chilling to the bone.
“Woo woo…”
Whether it is a human or a dog, there is an instinctive fear of death.
As the black dog whimpered softly, Shimura Ninja suddenly felt a chill and the hair on his neck stood up.
Almost instinctively, he raised his head and met a pair of scarlet eyes in surprise.
Before he could open his mouth to shout, a hand covered his mouth, and the muscles of both arms bulged and pulled hard...
