There was only a crisp sound that made people feel terrified and frightened.
The spine was twisted off by the huge rotation force, like clothes being wrung out, but the human body is much tougher than clothes.
There are two muscles from the earlobes to the clavicle and sternum, as well as the entire muscle group, cervical vertebrae and seven neck ligaments, which have been used by the human body to protect vital parts over thousands of years of evolution.
What's more, Shimura's best skill is wind-style ninjutsu. With his stronger physique than ordinary ninjas, he should not die easily even if he is ambushed by someone.
However, the "iron bones" that he was proud of were easily broken by the twisting of those hands.
The muscles in his neck were twisted to pieces, and a few drops of blood splattered out.
“Huh…”
The intense pain in an instant made his eyes bulge out. He subconsciously wanted to warn the people outside and call for help, but his brain had already lost control of his body.
He could only make a very slight sound, like an animal with its neck broken.
Enemy! Trap! When?
Such a thought flashed through Shimura Ninja's mind.
However, this was also his last thought. Due to the injury of severed spinal nerves, he only had time to have a flash of thought. Even the revolving lantern could not flash through his mind before the surging darkness completely submerged him.
Shimura Ninja's still upright body seemed to have its spine pulled out, and he fell down limply without a sound.
Right above him, Furatto, who was hanging upside down with his feet hooked on the beam, made almost no sound and jumped down as lightly as a civet cat.
With one hand, he held the completely limp body that was about to fall to the ground in his arms. With the other hand, he caught the kunai that was already taken out and held in his hand without even looking.
"A great power is a great power. Even if it's just a Chunin, it can't be underestimated."
Furatto glanced at the kunai he caught, and felt deeply moved by the guy's reaction before his death.
This is much stronger than those stupid Chunins he had assassinated before. If he hadn't used his full strength just now, he might have really failed.
While reviewing the entire process of the incident in his mind, Furatto did not hesitate and dragged away the corpse that had begun to emit a foul odor.
As a master of assassination, he knew very well that the rupture of the spinal nerves would lead to the complete loss of all functions below the neck, and incontinence would be natural. If he was not dragged away in time, the three people outside would probably notice something was wrong.
“Woo woo!”
Although there was almost no smell of blood, the black dog lying on the ground still smelled the pervasive sense of ferocity, as if it had seen a predator hunting, and was so scared that it trembled all over and whimpered.
The low whimper also alerted Furatto, and he looked over in the direction of the sound.
A thin beam of light shone through the gap in the roof, shining right on the black dog.
The little fellow, whose hind legs and abdomen had been pierced by a kunai, was now curled up on the ground. In its eyes, in addition to the fear of death that any living creature would have, there seemed to be a human attachment.
An attachment to this abandoned cottage?
Perhaps, before being picked up and adopted by Makoto's parents, it lived in this dilapidated house. Perhaps, its owner who abandoned it died here, causing it to fall from a domestic dog to a stray dog.
So knowing it was going to die, it could only struggle to crawl back into the house.
Furatto, who had already stretched out his hand to break its neck, softened his iron heart slightly after noticing these things.
“…That’s all.”
Furatto squatted down, stretched out his hand that was suspended in mid-air, gently touched its bony, bloody waist, and said, "Whether you can survive depends on your luck."
The old black dog seemed to understand. It patted the ground with its tail weakly and licked his wrist with its tongue.
Furatto narrowed his eyes and bit his finger. Blood oozed from the tip of his finger, looking as dark red as ink.
Like spring water rolling down green leaves, it gathers at the fingertips, breaking through the tension under the influence of gravity and breeze.
It dripped onto the black dog's tongue, making a tiny sound.
The next moment, an extremely sharp and shrill howl suddenly sounded.
“Ahh! Roar!!”
Outside the house, the faces of the three Konoha ninjas guarding outside changed, and they all looked into the house at the same time, their expressions becoming serious and suspicious.
"What's going on?"
Hearing the ghostly howl, the three of them subconsciously became alert, lowered their bodies slightly and took a half step back, raised their hands and the kunai in their hands, and stared at the abandoned house.
They could vaguely see that familiar broad figure, and the big black dog underneath him was wailing and struggling, cursing, "You beast! I'll let you run away and skin you alive!"
Hearing the familiar voice and tone, the three ninjas were startled for a moment, but they quickly reacted and frowned subconsciously.
So that guy was skinning the dog alive?
"Damn it." A Konoha ninja with a disgusted expression said, "Doesn't that bastard understand the current situation?"
It's bad enough that he came to catch the dog, but he also made the dog bark so shrilly. What if he caused unnecessary trouble...
Without waiting for a reply from his other two companions, the Konoha ninja walked into the house.
The room was almost completely dark, and the sudden drop in ambient brightness caused his pupils to dilate slightly. If nothing unexpected happened, the human body's pupils would naturally adjust, allowing him to adapt to the light within three seconds.
But obviously, he won't have this opportunity.
"Shimura, you..."
Looking down at the figure squatting on the ground, the Konoha ninja just opened his mouth and before he could utter a question, he saw the man suddenly raise his head.
Poof!
A short sword suddenly stabbed into his open mouth. The extremely cold blade accurately brushed past his soft tongue, directly piercing the hard palate and soft palate that could vibrate and make sounds, and finally cut off his trachea, bringing out scarlet flesh and blood through his neck.
The short sword blocked his subsequent words in his throat.
“Huh!”
The Konoha ninja opened his eyes wide in horror, looking at the familiar and indifferent face in front of him, watching the face gradually distort and change into a completely unfamiliar face.
Enemy? How could it be?
It's not a transformation technique? What kind of technique is this?
If it was a transformation technique, he would definitely be able to discover it.
Furatto slowly stood up and held the handle of the short sword with one hand.
There was despair and pleading in the eyes of the Konoha ninja. He knew that he would die immediately if the short sword was pulled out.
But even now he didn't want to die.
Anyone who has ever experienced war and survived the meat grinder will cherish his or her life very much, even if it means living just two or three seconds longer.
Unfortunately, Furatto was far more cold and decisive than he had imagined.
Puff!
Without waiting for the Konoha ninja to beg for mercy, the short sword was suddenly pulled out, and a flower of blood bloomed along with the body that fell to the sky.
However, at the same time, the two people outside also discovered something unusual.
It's too quiet.
This time, the two of them did not hesitate at all, and even without any communication, they simultaneously threw out the kunai wrapped with explosive tags and were about to throw them at the abandoned house.
Extremely decisive, extremely resolute.
Only ninjas who have experienced war can make the most accurate judgment in this brief moment.
They even planned to throw out the explosive tags to kill any possible enemies in the house without any consideration for their companions who might still be alive.
In other words, compared to those strong people who regard "the will of fire" and "cherish your companions" as the truth, these two "ordinary people" know very well that for a ninja, the mission and staying alive are the top priorities.
In order to eliminate possible threats and enemies and to survive, the life and death of colleagues is no longer so important.
No matter from which angle you consider it, both of them are already standard killing tools, decisive, fierce, and cold...
But unfortunately, they only knew that there were enemies in the house, but they did not notice that on the hillside 500 meters away from them, there was a pair of calm eyes staring at them without blinking.
It's a pair of eyes, not just one.
Some people may think that it is better to open one eye and close the other when aiming and shooting, but this is actually a completely wrong perception.
If you close one eye and then suddenly open it, your vision will be blurred for a short period of time. At this time, if there are enemies around, it will be extremely fatal.
The young hunter, who has loved hunting with bows and arrows since he was a child, naturally knows these things.
At this moment, the box at his feet was opened. The half-open box was empty, and the firearms and ninja tools assembled from spare parts were now held in his hands.
One eye was looking at the Konoha ninja in the distance in the eyepiece, and the other eye was observing and sensing the surrounding environment.
"Wind speed is 4 per second, from west to east, temperature is 22, humidity is 75, pitch angle is 35..." The young man code-named "Hunter" muttered to himself.
He doesn't have the talent like Uzumaki Yiko, but he has experience as a hunter and can do well without an observer.
However, the shooting distance of 500 meters was too far even for him who was born as a civilian hunter. When he used a crossbow before, he had only shot and injured a wild boar from a distance of 200 meters at most.
At a distance of more than 500 meters, a human body is no bigger than a plum, so it is even more difficult to kill it with one strike...
Thoughts raced through his mind, but when he saw in the scope, two Konoha ninjas pulled out kunai and were about to throw them at the abandoned house.
His body's instinct made him abandon all hesitation and indecision and pull the trigger.
BANG!!
In the sight of one of the Konoha, a figure had already walked out of the house, but in his peripheral vision, a cloud of blood mist suddenly exploded less than half a meter away from him.
At such a close distance, he could almost see that his companion's chest was torn in half. The standard vest used exclusively for jonin was like a joke after being hit by that one blow.
The standard vest, which was originally used to protect against sharp injuries, was like a fragile piece of paper, which was easily torn by bullets and penetrated the body.
Phew!
The flesh and blood exploded beside him.
One shot, shattering the chest!
The bullet whizzed by Furatto's ear, leaving a blood-red mark on his cold face. However, he just stared at the explosive tag thrown at him without any emotion, and raised his hand...
Boom!!
There was a loud bang and bricks, stones and grass flew everywhere.
However, apart from the impact of the explosive tag, the fire and heat did not bloom and spread.
"Thanks to those bastards in the equipment R&D department, I haven't seen this old-fashioned explosive tag for a long time. Now I actually miss its warmth."
Amid Furatto's sighing and resentful tone, the fire and heat of the explosive tag were firmly restrained, forming a flowing, surging fireball in the air between the Konoha ninja and Furatto.
God knows what Furatto went through when he was half-dragged and half-abducted into the equipment research and development department after awakening the Blood Demon Art of controlling fire.
I guess half of the credit for the equipment research and development department not being destroyed by those bomb maniacs should be attributed to him.
Puff!!
Another strange sound of flesh and blood exploding was heard.
The only remaining Konoha ninja wanted to escape without hesitation after seeing the unknown ability displayed by Furatto, but the firearm ninja tool held in the distance shook off the dust beneath him and then shot out a bullet that directly blew up his thigh.
"……cough!"
The Konoha ninja forced himself to swallow back the scream that was about to burst out of his mouth, and just groaned before quickly forming seals with his hands and escaping in an instant, without any hesitation or attempt to resist.
What made him make a judgment based on his experience was not the unknown ability of Furatto in front of him, but the "hunter" who was hiding somewhere unknown.
On the battlefield, except for those extraordinary "Kages" and a very small number of ninjas who possess large summoning beasts or forbidden techniques, individuals will not play a big role under the absolute firepower suppression brought by numbers.
If it were a one-on-one situation, this Konoha ninja, who was only one step away from being a jonin and was skilled in large-scale earth-style ninjutsu, would never be afraid of a life-and-death battle with Furatto.
However, with the exception of the "monsters" that could accurately shoot and kill targets from hundreds of meters away, this battlefield ghost that ignored distance and took lives made him extremely frightened, and he made the most rational choice without hesitation.
Escape!
There was no time to consider the consumption of physical strength and chakra. The Konoha ninja used all his strength to perform the Body Flicker Technique and escaped a hundred meters in an instant.
At this moment, on the hillside hundreds of meters away, the sniper ninja tool was loaded with a clear yellow bullet again, and the hunter pulled the bolt and aimed at the Konoha ninja who had turned into a "dot" in the distance.
But when he was about to shoot, Furatto, who was about to be pulled out of his sight, suddenly looked in his direction and raised his arm to give an order to stop attacking.
"……Why?"
The hunter frowned subconsciously, but soon realized his intention.
Remove the firewood from under the cauldron?
In the distance, looking at the Konoha ninja who had fled away in a panic, a hint of coldness flashed across Furatto's scarlet eyes.
If he wanted to kill that ninja, he could have easily crushed him to death just now.
But he knew in his heart that killing that guy would be useless.
If these konoha ninjas didn't go back for a long time, Konoha will soon realize that the few Konoha ninjas they sent out have encountered the enemy, and by then, he don't know how many ninjas will gather here.
The terrible thing is that this place is only seven or eight kilometers away from the village where they are resting. Not to mention those innocent civilians, there are nearly seven hundred of them alone in this area.
If they were exposed before the sun set, this team composed mainly of "demons" would be doomed to be at a disadvantage when facing the encirclement and suppression of the Konoha ninjas led by Jiraiya.
Not only that, it is more likely to cause their original plan to come to naught.
In that case, they might as well let that guy go back. They will just follow him, find the team he is in, and eliminate them all at once!
"Tell the brothers on duty nearby to come here immediately if they can, and work together to eliminate the Konoha team. Also, tell Boss Yoru that the situation has changed and they may not be able to wait until night, so ask them to be prepared!"
Furatto said in cold tone.
Even if all the companions on duty nearby could rush over, they could only gather a few dozen people at most. They still had no advantage against the Konoha team, and it could even be said that they were going to die.
However, even though they know it means death, they have to go. They must not let that Konoha team warn the other teams!
"Huhu! It's finally time for me to take action!"
Gengo jumped down from a tree with an excited look on his face. He had no problem with the risky and even suicidal behavior. He just tilted his head at the ninja who had disappeared and asked, "Can we still catch up?"
"Hmph." Furatto snorted coldly, glancing behind him, "Even though the 'blood' I saved up with great difficulty was fed to the dog, the dog's nose can still be put to use."
As he was speaking, a muffled and low voice came out from the house, and a black shadow about four or five meters high crushed the house.
The old dog, which was originally seriously injured and dying, was healed. The blood on its body was evaporated by the burning body temperature, and saliva unconsciously fell from between its teeth, corroding the ground and producing foul-smelling green smoke.
The sharp teeth, claws, and twisted biological structure no longer looked like an old dog. With the scarlet vertical pupils, it looked more like a ferocious monster.
