Time passes silently.
Looking at the completely dark night out of boredom, Kaito leaned lazily against the outer wall of the Mizukage Building.
‘Does the old Mizukage work so late every day?’
Looking down at this time, there are basically no people around the Mizukage Building.
The lights in most of the houses in the Kirigakure Village had already been turned off.
However, the Third Mizukage was still working diligently in the office.
On the contrary, Elder Genji, who seemed to be more serious and responsible, went back to rest early in the evening.
Kaito took off his mask and threw a Military Ration Pill into his mouth with a look of despair.
This is just an ordinary pill for filling hunger.
After all, I'm on guard duty, and there's no time to eat if there's no shift change.
To be honest, Kaito had only eaten this kind of hard-to-swallow food-type Military Ration Pill a few times while on the battlefield.
However, just as Kaito had swallowed the Military Ration Pill, the Third Mizukage in the office stood up, as if he was preparing to go back to rest.
"This! I always feel like something evil is targeting me!"
Just when Kaito thought he could finally take a break.
Kisame, who had been standing upright, gestured to him and spoke.
"Let's go, follow me."
Kaito was a little dumbfounded, but seeing that Kisame had already jumped to the other side of the roof, he had to quickly follow.
"Shou, what else are we going to do?"
Kisame seemed a little puzzled as to why such a question came up, and turned to look at Kaito.
"Of course we will continue to protect, Third Mizukage-sama."
"Didn't I tell Dr. Lu? The guard duty is rotated every day."
After hearing Kisame's explanation, Kaito almost lost his balance and fell off the side of the Mizukage Building.
"Don't ANBU ninjas need sleep?"
Unexpectedly, Kisame said it as a matter of course.
"Tomorrow we will have some rest and training time, and then we will continue to rotate to other parts of the village for patrol or guard duty."
After thinking about it, Kisame added one last sentence.
"This is the arrangement when we are not on a mission. It is a benefit for the resting Anbu."
“Is this still a benefit?”
Kaito suddenly felt that he didn't seem to like the job in the Anbu so much anymore.
"As expected, part-time jobs are the most annoying thing!"
Kaito silently complained about this weird working system in his heart.
You know, for some time before, Team Kaito lived a very free and easy life.
Although the training is usually very hard, the acceptance of tasks is very random. It is usually after 5 or 6 days of rest and training that everyone will choose to take a task that is not too troublesome to complete.
"Sigh, workers have no choice."
Kisame looked at Kaito who was sighing beside him, not knowing what to say.
Fortunately, the Third Mizukage had already walked out of the Mizukage Building at this time.
The two stopped talking and followed quietly along with the Anbu guarding other locations.
However, they did not go far from the Mizukage Building and came to a house with relatively empty surroundings.
"Is this the home of Mizukage-sama?"
Kaito looked at the house below in some disbelief.
It’s not that the Third Mizukage’s residence is particularly strange.
But Kaito had never imagined that the Third Mizukage had been the absolute leader of the Kirigakure Village for decades.
The place where he lives is so simple?
"Yes, this is the residence of the Third Mizukage-sama."
Fuku, who appeared at the side at some point, said with a hint of admiration in his tone.
"The Third Mizukage-sama has no family or relatives, and he often even sleeps directly in the Mizukage Building."
It seems like Fuku is explaining why the Third Mizukage's residence is so simple, and it also seems to be conveying a certain emotion.
Upon hearing this, Kaito felt as if he had gotten to know the old man who had single-handedly pushed the Blood Mist Village forward all over again.
It is no wonder that even though the blood mist policy has various shortcomings, there are still so many Kirigakure ninjas who are proud of their identity as the 'Blood Mist Village'.
"Captain Fuku!" x2
After listening to this, Kaito and the others did not forget to turn around and greet him.
Fuku didn't care about their reactions and his tone became cold again.
"You continue to perform your mission. I am here to inform you that the subsequent duty time has changed. Meet at the Anbu base at ten o'clock tomorrow night."
"Understood." x2
When Fuku saw that the two agreed, he left instantly.
Kaito guessed that Fuku needed to notify the other staff on duty so he left instantly.
After seeing the other party leave, Kaito touched his chin and thought.
‘Could it be because of the mission that the Third Mizukage assigned to the Anbu this afternoon?’
‘But Captain Fuku said that the duty hours have changed, not the mission. It seems that we don't need to send our team to the front lines of the Land of Fire and Wind.’
‘Well, maybe a large number of Anbu personnel were transferred out, so the workload of the remaining personnel has increased?’
Kaito was a little amused and didn't know whether he should be glad that he didn't have to carry out a dangerous mission, or be worried that he might not have much rest time.
"I was thinking of talking to Mei and the others about the situation after I rest tomorrow."
'Sigh, the flight practice plan will be postponed again.'
Kaito was daydreaming here.
Kisame, who was standing aside, also said nothing.
Anyway, everyone is wearing a mask, so they don’t know what other people’s expressions are.
There was no conversation that night, and the Third Mizukage might have really taken a rest.
He also didn't ask the Anbu to inform anyone.
Kaito also stayed up all night like a responsible security guard.
It was daybreak.
Kaito yawned, exchanged secret signals with the Anbu who came to take over the shift, then said goodbye to Kisame and went home to rest.
As soon as he entered the house, he found that the little frog was making breakfast by himself, which was a rare occurrence.
Kaito smiled and walked forward, took a peeled egg and put it into his mouth.
"Quack!=.=#"
"Okay, okay, I'll peel one for you."
Rubbing Blue's little head, Kaito picked up another egg and started spinning it deftly on his fingertips.
In just a moment, a peeled, white and smooth egg appeared in Kaito's hand.
After releasing the chakra scalpel from his fingertips and handing the egg to the somewhat happy Blue, Kaito continued.
"Why don't you go and practice with Mei and Zabuza these days?"
"I think Anbu's mission will be quite busy next time, so it's not a good idea to bring you along."
Blue held the egg and looked at it from left to right, then nodded nonchalantly, to show that he understood.
Kaito didn't care much about it.
While eating breakfast, he complained to Blue about how boring the guard duty in the Anbu was.
"Okay, stop playing with the eggs and finish your breakfast."
After lightly tapping Blue, who had not taken a few bites of food yet, Kaito gently pushed the plate towards him.
Blue reluctantly stuffed the egg into his mouth, and then devoured his breakfast in a flash.
Looking at Blue who went to wash the dishes on his own initiative, Kaito stretched and walked into the bedroom.
"Blue, remember to wake me up when you come back from training tonight."
