It wasn't long since the few of them left the town where the intelligence station was located.
Ao, who was walking in front, suddenly stopped with a serious expression.
"Someone is following us."
"Fifteen people, two jōnin, three of them are the Kumogakure ninjas we met in the town just now."
Upon hearing this, everyone stopped immediately, took a defensive stance, and waited for Ao's next order.
"Be alert and continue to move forward normally. See what the other party means. A fight may not necessarily occur."
"Yes" x7
Everyone immediately returned to their previous state and continued to move forward casually.
Before they had gone far, the Kumogakure Ninja accelerated and caught up with them. Fifteen ninjas surrounded the two teams in an instant.
"What does this mean, my friends in Kumogakure?"
Ao showed some wariness and asked preemptively.
A dark-skinned man who seemed to be the leader walked forward a few steps and looked at Ao who had spoken.
"State your identities and tell us the purpose of the Land of Hot Water."
"Have you, the ninjas of Kumogakure, also begun to take charge of the security of the Land of Hot Water?"
As he spoke, Ao put his hand on the hilt of the sword in a serious manner, as if he was ready to draw the sword at any time.
Although Kaito and others knew that Ao's swordsmanship was not even as good as his direct kunai fighting.
However, the Kumogakure Ninja on the opposite side still leaned slightly and looked at Ao warily.
"You don't need to ask about this. I'll say it again, tell me your purpose!"
Ao showed hesitation and spoke after pondering for a while.
"We are subordinates of the general of the Land of Iron. We have been ordered to come to the Land of Hot Water to deliver a letter to the Daimyo of the Land of Hot Water. We do not wish to come into conflict with your country."
"I see. Now you can go. Say hello to Lord Mifune for me."
The dark-skinned jōnin forced a smile upon hearing that and waved to everyone, indicating that they could leave.
Just as he was about to turn around, the leaders of both sides shouted at the same time.
"Get started!" x2
A ray of white light instantly shot out from Kaito's hand towards the head of the dark-skinned jōnin on the opposite side.
It’s a pity that the other party was well prepared and had been on guard against Kirigakure’s actions.
Although he didn't expect the attack to be so insidious, he still managed to avoid the sneak attack by tilting his head, leaving only a slight scratch on his face.
The dark-skinned jōnin was nearly hit in the head, and immediately started to sneer with hatred.
"Is that all you can do? The Land of Iron is not so extravagant as to send two jōnin and six young chūnins to deliver the message."
Ao saw that the Kumogakure Ninja jōnin opposite him was obviously ready to take action. He cursed "damn it" inwardly, but did not stop making hand seals.
The next moment, a large amount of water spurted out from Ao's mouth, directly surrounding the Kirigakure people, forming a solid water wall that blocked the attacks of all the Kumogakure ninjas.
Then the water wall collapsed, and everyone scattered, and Ao gave orders.
"Be Quick and decisive, no one should be left alive."
Although leaving one or two people alive might help us find out the purpose of the Kumogakure Village's action.
But you have to know that there are more than 200 Kumogakure ninjas scattered throughout the southern part of the Land of Hot Water. If they are held back by the enemy because of holding back, then it is estimated that none of them will survive.
However, when these words fell into the ears of the Kumogakure Ninja, they seemed to be looking down on them.
The dark-skinned jōnin who was leading the group roared with a little anger.
"Capture a few of them alive and kill the rest of them!"
The more than twenty ninjas present were fighting in an instant.
Kaito kicked away a Kumogakure Ninja who was trying to launch a sneak attack on him, and immediately bit his finger and slapped the ground.
"Blue!"
The Summoning Jutsu was performed, and the little frog jumped into the air from the smoke.
After hearing his master's call, he immediately opened his mouth in understanding.
"Quack! (｀0′)"
A large amount of gray smoke spewed out of Blue's mouth, instantly covering the three Kumogakure ninjas rushing forward, blocking their vision.
It was the 'Smoke Screen' that Blue had mastered some time ago. The visual effect of this move was very similar to the 'Fire Style: Ashes Burn' used by Asuma in the future, but unfortunately it did not have the effect of igniting an explosion.
But it doesn’t matter!
Seeing the enemy shrouded in the "Smoke Screen", Kaito quickly formed seals again.
"Water Style: Water Shuriken"
Dozens of water shurikens quickly formed around Kaito, and in the blink of an eye they all shot into the smoke.
"Ah!" x2
Two screams came from the smoke.
However, another Kumogakure ninja rushed out from the smoke, wielding a longsword that was flashing with electric light and slashing towards Kaito.
Unfortunately, the Kumogakure Ninja only heard a clear low hum coming from behind him.
"Aerial Ace"
Kaito quickly passed by the opponent and sheathed his sword. Only then did he hear a dull sound of falling to the ground from behind him.
Kaito quickly dealt with three opponents and ignored Hozuki Shingetsu who was being stabbed into the ground by a Kumogakure ninja not far away and was unable to move due to the electric shock.
Instead, he activated his 'Keen Eye’ and quickly scanned all the Kumogakure Ninjas, his gaze specifically lingering on two enemies that were closer to him for a moment.
The weak deterrent effect of the "Keen Eye" caused the two Kumogakure ninjas to pause for a moment, leaving them injured.
However, this is not the main purpose of Kaito.
With the help of his dynamic vision which had slowed down several times at this moment, Kaito noticed a Kumogakure Ninja who was hiding aside with his eyes closed but kept throwing kunai and shurikens.
"It's you!"
That’s right, Kaito was looking for the perception ninja in the opposing team.
If they don't get rid of this person, even if the people of Kirigakure are really defeated and want to retreat, they will not be caught up by the enemy.
Kaito formed seals again, and the water under his feet began to surge violently. At the same time, his right hand tightly grasped the short sword behind him, and strands of green wind-attribute chakra also flowed behind him.
Staring at the guy who was suspected to be a perception ninja, Kaito muttered to himself.
“I wouldn’t dare to play like this without dynamic vision.”
The next moment, the long-accumulated water gushed out from under his feet. At the same time, the wind attribute power that came with the use of the Aerial Ace skill also pushed Kaito to accelerate forward.
In the blink of an eye, a blue-green figure crossed a distance of more than thirty meters and appeared in front of the Perception Ninja.
With his powerful dynamic vision, Kaito swung his sword accurately across the opponent's neck.
Then he rushed forward for several meters without slowing down before finally stopping.
But it’s also thanks to this forward charge.
Because the speed was too fast and the force of the slash could not be contained, the head of the perception ninja flew high. If Kaito had stayed where he was, he would have been covered in blood.
“Although this move has not been named yet, it is better to use it less frequently until I can have better control over my body.”
Kaito stretched his stiff calves slightly to reflect on himself.
It seems that ever since I started practicing Kenjutsu, I increasingly consider myself less and less a long-range ninjutsu-type ninja.
But in fact, his body is not as good as those of the Taijutsu ninjas who have been tempered through thousands of trials. Immersing himself in the tension and excitement of this close combat is a dangerous signal for him.
Just when Kaito was recovering from his numb legs, a long sword with a cold glow silently stabbed at his back.
"Shua~"
The long sword went straight through Kaito's body, and the tip of the sword stabbed out from his chest.
