Kaito followed the Anbu all the way to the Mizukage Building.
Since he didn't know what was going on, Kaito didn't rush at full speed, but just went at a normal speed.
The Anbu in front didn't deliberately speed up in a way that was too dramatic, trying to throw Kaito away or anything like that.
On the contrary, it is obvious that it is coordinating with Kaito's forward speed.
Not long after, the two arrived at the Mizukage's office.
"Third Mizukage-sama, Mirukawa Kaito is here."
The Anbu knelt on one knee and reported to the Mizukage.
This made Kaito look a little silly as he stood there motionless.
'Hey, should I kneel down as well? There was no such procedure before.'
The Third Mizukage didn't care about Kaito's silly look, but waved his hand to let the Anbu retreat first.
"Fuku, go wait outside for a moment."
"Yes, Third Mizukage-sama!"
As the ANBU named Fuku left, only Kaito and the Third Mizukage were left in the office.
It was a rare occasion that Elder Genji was not working in the Mizukage's office today, which made Kaito feel somewhat uncomfortable.
But Kaito thought about this timing again.
‘Elder Genji is not young anymore, maybe he has gone back to rest?’
The Third Mizukage looked at the little brat who dared to be distracted in front of him, narrowed his eyes, and tapped the table with his fingers.
Kaito quickly came to his senses.
"Third Mizukage-sama!"
The Third Mizukage did not show any dissatisfaction, he just nodded, and this little matter was over.
"Kaito, your team doesn't seem to have completed many missions recently?"
Kaito didn't expect that he was called over late at night for this matter.
Kaito couldn't help but complain in his heart.
‘No? You are the Kage of a village after all. Do you have to ask about the number of missions for the three of us Chunins?’
But what Kaito said was.
"I'm sorry, Third Mizukage-sama. Our team just happened to have some insights into practice recently. We have indeed been slacking. We will ensure that we actively complete the mission in the future."
Unexpectedly, the Third Mizukage shook his head.
"Forget about the mission. Kuriarare Kushimaru recommended you to join the Anbu. What do you think?"
This sentence made Kaito stunned for a moment.
Suddenly he remembered that Kushimaru did have the idea of recruiting him into the Anbu, just when they were on their way back from destroying the Konoha camp.
However, due to the later recruitment of Karatachi Yagura, he forgot about this matter.
‘But why did Kushimaru come to the Third Mizukage to recommend me?’
However, Kaito immediately thought of it.
Since Suikazan Fuguki died before, it was natural for the vice director of the Anbu, Kuriarare Kushimaru, to take over the entire Anbu.
However, due to the special nature of the Anbu, the village leaders will not publicize such personnel changes.
As a result, Kaito was unaware of this matter for a while.
Of course, since the Third Mizukage asked, Kaito naturally responded obediently and sensibly.
"Third Mizukage-sama, I have no opinion. I will follow the village's arrangements."
The Third Mizukage was quite satisfied with Kaito's answer.
"Well, then you will be transferred to the Anbu. You will follow Fuku to the Anbu base to report and receive your equipment. You will officially join the Anbu starting tomorrow."
"Yes, Third Mizukage-sama-sama."
Seeing that the Third Mizukage had picked up a scroll and was about to lower his head to continue working, Kaito hurriedly asked.
"Third Mizukage-sama, what about my two team members?"
The Third Mizukage said casually without even raising his head.
"Of course, they will continue to follow Ao. When Ao came to report in the afternoon, he already knew about this."
"Thank you, Third Mizukage-sama."
"Okay, let's go find Fuku."
Kaito only reacted after leaving the Mizukage's office.
‘Why are you asking me what I mean? You have already informed Ao-sensei this afternoon. Does it make any difference whether I agree or not?’
But now that things have come to this, Kaito has nothing to complain about.
Gently closing the door of the Mizukage's office, Kaito looked at Fuku who was standing against the wall with a mask on, and he didn't know how to greet him.
The other party is probably my future leader. Isn't it a bit strange to call him by his code name directly?
Fortunately, Fuku must have known about Kaito's situation in advance, so he stood up and walked over.
"Come with me."
Then he seemed to see what was bothering Kaito, so he paused and continued.
"You can call me Fuku. I am the captain of an Anbu squad. You will be carrying out missions in my team from now on."
"Yes, Captain Fuku."
Behind the Mizukage Building, inside a hollowed-out mountain.
Fuku led Kaito through this winding passage and introduced him to the work of some Anbu members.
"Currently the Anbu are divided into three parts: tracking, surveillance, and assassination."
"Of course, the work content is far more than this. As long as it is the task of Mizukage-sama, we must complete it unconditionally."
"Most ordinary teams will rotate after a period of time. If someone is particularly suitable for a certain position, they will continue to stay in the corresponding position."
"Remember, in the Anbu, obeying the orders of your superiors is the first priority. Mizukage-sama, director, and squad captain, there is only one thing you need to do, and that is to obey."
Following Fuku's introduction, Kaito also had a general understanding of the daily life of the Anbu members.
Although the work of Anbu seems very high-end, it is actually not much different from that of ordinary ninjas.
However, the tasks they carry out are relatively secretive and require them to wear masks and remain anonymous.
During my rest time, I am still an ordinary Chunin and can live a normal life.
After wandering around the Anbu base for an unknown amount of time, I finally arrived at the logistics equipment department.
"Okay, go get your equipment first, and I'll introduce you to the other members of our team tomorrow."
"Thank you, Captain Fuku."
Kaito walked to a small window with metal railings and looked at the Anbu members on duty.
"Kid, you're new here, right? Wait a minute, no one has claimed equipment of your size for a while, I need to look for it."
"Um, thank you!"
"What's wrong with my body shape? I joined the ANBU at such a young age, which means I'm a genius! Am I short because I'm eating your rice?"
Kaito took a few deep breaths and loosened his clenched fists, not intending to argue with this impolite Anbu.
After a while, the Anbu holding two large trays returned to the window again and threw the trays directly in front of Kaito.
"Here, your equipment, try it on and see for yourself. Then you can pick out a mask from here."
After looking at the row of masks with the Kirigakure logo printed on them, Kaito gave up his desire to complain.
Unlike the animal masks of Konoha, the masks of Kirigakure's Anbu are basically in the style of Peking Opera masks.
Kaito finally chose the one with the most flamboyant appearance, which looked a bit like the mask of Kurosaki Ichigo.
Afterwards, he reluctantly tried on the vest that he had disliked when he became a Chunin.
"Well, it's actually not bad. With my looks, I can handle this ugly thing."
"By the way, Captain Fuku. Can I use my own sword?"
