After a very gloomy rain, the Land of Rain ushered in rare good weather.
Although the sun has been obscured by dense dark clouds, you can still see the sunset by standing by the river.
The red glow sprinkled on the surface of the river, reflected in the water, casting long shadows and drawing thin golden lines on the surface of the river.
"Let's raise the net!"
A small boat was floating on the river. Asa stood on the bow and looked into the distance. It had been almost a year since he left the Land of Rain, and the scene before him made him a little dazed.
The scenery along the coast at this time is very different from before. Although there are fishing boats traveling in the river, casting nets and fishing, the customs and practices on the shore are completely different.
As the scene changed and more settlements formed along the coast, some roads began to appear around, neat brick houses, and even the appearance of a market in the distance.
Children were laughing and running on the newly built embankment. In the distance, someone was shouting at the children to be careful. Fishermen on the river were busy casting their nets to catch fish.
"Child, you haven't been back for a long time, right?"
In a trance, Asa heard the old boatman's voice behind him, and he shook himself back to his senses.
"Ah, yes." He calmed himself down and smiled, "I went to Land of Waterfall and didn't expect it to change so much."
"Haha, I don't know what the Land of Waterfall is like, but life here is indeed a lot better this year."
Asa smiled and said, "That's great."
Ever since the battle at Kagero Village in the Land of Mountain, he had been sent to Takigakure Village to carry out a secret mission, away from home for a year.
Although he had already prepared himself, it was impossible to say that he had no complaints at all.
But the scene before him made him feel it was worth it.
What he feared was not being tired or even dying. He was just afraid that he would do a lot but in the end nothing would change.
Now all this at least proves that what he did was not in vain.
"Hey! It's you brats again!"
Just as Asa was staring at his reflection in the river in a daze, a loud shout suddenly sounded from behind him.
He turned around and looked over there in confusion.
The old boatman in a straw raincoat was seen waving a flat pole, looking at a group of barefoot children playing on the embankment and angrily saying, "You came here again without telling your parents. Wait until I tell them and they will beat you half to death!"
"Whoa whoa!"
"Run! It's that shameless lame old man who loves to tell tales again!"
"We are not afraid. Even if we fall, Brother Asuto will save us!"
The children on the embankment fled while happily making faces at the old boatman, jumping up and down and shouting. One of them, a big boy with a broad build, was obviously the leader and was surrounded by the other children.
When Asa heard the familiar name, he looked up suddenly, and seeing the broad-built boy, he narrowed his eyes and shouted, "Asuto!"
Just this long shout startled a flock of pigeons into flight.
The boy seemed to be thinking about something, but was suddenly interrupted by a shout. He turned around and shouted subconsciously: "Who's calling?"
"Your brother!"
Asuto suddenly looked up and saw Asa with an angry face, and he was stunned where he stood.
The children around also saw it. They stared at the two people for a moment, then started chattering.
"Is that Asuto's elder brother? He looks so fierce!"
"Oh no, my mom said he has a bad temper!"
"Um, Brother Asuto, my mom asked me to go home for dinner, so I'm leaving first!"
A group of fishermen's children who had just been so arrogant and fearless, were like mice seeing a cat when they saw the gloomy Asa. They were all terrified and ran away from the river to the other side of the embankment.
Asuto suddenly came back to his senses, blinked his eyes, and subconsciously wanted to run away...
"Stop!"
The voice suddenly appeared behind him, and then Asuto heard the sound of breaking wind.
Asuto, who had already thoroughly mastered the "Total Concentration Breathing: Constant" and was able to keep the breathing method working all the time, almost subconsciously clenched his fists, turned around and smashed out.
Not only did his broad stature not affect his speed, but his breathing method made the muscles under his fat bulge, just like a compressed spring suddenly bursting, and collided with the palm that grabbed him from behind.
Boom!
As the wind pressure exploded, the ground beneath their feet could not withstand the downward force and instantly collapsed into spider-web-like cracks.
Asuto raised his right hand above his head, and it looked like he was holding something, as if he was about to launch a downward strike, but Asa grabbed his wrist tightly and stopped him instantly.
“What a fast speed.”
“What a powerful force.”
Asuto and Asa looked at each other and saw each other's astonishment. Two different thoughts emerged in their minds at the same time.
But soon, Asuto pulled out a smile from the corner of his mouth and laughed dryly: "Haha, brother, you are back?"
"...You still know how to call me brother?"
Asa loosened his slightly numb hands that were clenched around his fists and wrists, and shook them lightly a few times behind Asuto's back, looking sideways and sneering, "Good job, kid!"
"When I left, you were still rolling around on the boat, holding your sore butt. I've only been gone for a while, and now you have the guts to fight me?"
As he spoke, Asa looked his younger brother up and down, his pupils narrowed slightly, and he was a little frightened.
He didn’t turn into a “demon”, so what did the academy teach him?
This muscle density and body strength...
What happened during the time I was away? Did this lazy boy really work hard and learn something?
Seeing Asa's cold but concerned look, Asuto's remaining fear and unfamiliarity disappeared instantly. He scratched his head and smiled, "As the teacher said, this is called a scholar who has been away for three days, you should look at him with new eyes!"
"I'll still be your brother even if we're apart for three days!"
Seeing that he was somewhat smug, Asa couldn't help but kick him again. Although he dodged it again, he couldn't avoid the slap on the head.
"Brother! You can talk, but what's the point of hitting someone?"
"I hit you a few times and you still dodged. Are you still dodging? Huh? Are you still dodging?"
"Ah! If you hit me again, I'll hit you back! I'm not afraid of you now!"
"You're not afraid of me?"
——————
On the river bank, Asuto was like a crab without claws and teeth, with tears on his face, and he was lying on his back with his limbs spread out.
After the two of them walked all the way to the fishing port.
"Hey, Asa is back?"
"Haha! Asuto has been taught a lesson."
"The crybaby Asuto is crying again."
The two brothers looked so strange that people looked at them wherever they went, and greeted them with smiles and jokes. Asuto also responded with a smile.
These people have been fishing here for generations. They have no place to stay on the shore, so they can only live in the lake and rely on the river for their abundant fishing catch. A boat is all their belongings.
There are also some people, like the family of the two Asuto brothers, who used to be trackers and could not even afford a fishing boat. They were able to live a well-fed life only because of subsidies from the administrative department and the construction of dams and fishing ports.
The whole family lives on a boat. The boat has everything a home needs. Eating, drinking, defecating and urinating are almost all done on the boat. Lying on the boat, you can see the stars in the night sky.
It is small and not stable, but its biggest advantage is that it is quiet. This is enough to satisfy them. It is everything they have never dared to imagine before.
As if feeling ashamed, Asuto struggled and shouted, "Let me go."
Asa lowered his head and smiled: "Oh, are you convinced?"
Asuto did not move, and said unconvincedly: "I am just showing mercy to save your face, Brother."
"I think you are the most stubborn person I have seen in my life."
The two brothers bickered as they walked to the end of the dock, where they came to a relatively larger fishing boat.
There were two figures standing at the bow. Aqua, who was wearing a bamboo hat, seemed to have heard their voices from afar and turned around subconsciously.
When he saw Asa, he was happy at first, but soon restrained his expression and just nodded to Asa.
In comparison, their mother was much more excited. She trotted over to ask about Asa's well-being, and glanced at Asuto at the side with some surprise: "What's this on your face..."
Asuto glanced at the culprit and muttered reluctantly, "I fell down myself."
Hearing this, Asa couldn't help but laugh, but when he turned around and saw his father Aqua's empty right sleeve, he was stunned and asked in surprise: "Father?"
His mother and silly brother didn't know his father's identity, so how could he not know?
Fortunately, he was favored by Lord Kumokawa and became one of the "Upper Ranks", one of the twelve demon moons of the demon army.
With the healing abilities of the Upper Ranks, as long as their heads are not destroyed, there will be no irreparable injuries. No matter how serious the injuries are, the only difference is the length of time required to heal.
But now…
“Ahem.”
Aqua didn't reply. Instead, he walked over and patted Asa on the shoulder. He then pointed to Asa behind him and whispered, "Aren't you trying to motivate your lazy, crybaby brother?"
Hearing this, Asa understood instantly and was a little amused and helpless for a moment.
No wonder that brat has improved so quickly and can now fight with me. It turns out it’s because of my father.
Aqua put his arm around Asa's shoulders, glanced over and whispered, "You've been in Takigakure Village for a year, how strong are you now?"
Asa blinked and looked at Aqua. Both of their pupils shrank into vertical shapes at the same time, and different words appeared on the scarlet background.
"Upper Rank" and "Lower Rank".
And in Asuto's pupils there are "Lower Rank" and "One".
"Upper Rank Six?" Asa frowned, "Aren't you Upper Rank Five?"
"The ranking is not fixed. I haven't been out on missions much, so it's normal for me to be surpassed by the people below me."
Aqua didn't feel any regret, but smiled: "Seeing you two getting better and better, I am very satisfied. I am waiting for you to take my place."
Asa felt warm in his heart, but he didn't want to be too sentimental, so he quickly changed the subject and said, "By the way, father, I heard that Lord Kumokawa allocated land and houses to our family in the residential area of City of Dawn?"
"That's true. Your mother and I are discussing moving there."
Aqua nodded and said with relief: "Before, our family either slept in the open air or floated on the water. Now we have a place to stay."
"Today's weather is good, so I can help move..."
Asa was about to say something, but at this moment, a cold and indifferent voice suddenly came to his ears.
"One of the Lower Moons, urgent order, stop visiting home and gather at Valhalla before dawn."
"Repeat! Urgent order, stop visiting home and gather at Valhalla before dawn!"
Hearing that familiar voice, Asa stood up straight almost reflexively. After the voice disappeared, the expression on his face had turned cold and hard.
"Big brother?"
Asuto also noticed this. Seeing Asa standing upright at the bow with a serious face and frowned brows, he understood instantly and said with a tense expression, "Are you leaving again?"
Asa came back to his senses and happened to meet his mother's gaze. She asked, "Do you want to go again and fight again?"
Hearing this, Asa twitched his lips a few times and said with a smile: "No, maybe, it's just that the legion has something to do..."
As he spoke, his voice became smaller and smaller, and finally he fell silent.
Of course he knew what this emergency order to go to Valhalla meant.
The boat fell silent for a moment. A wind blew on the lake in the morning, making a howling sound, and the sound came through the gaps in the wind.
Aqua walked over to his wife, put his arm around her, looked at Asa and smiled, "When are you leaving?"
"… before dawn."
"Then let's eat first before leaving." Aqua nodded and walked into the cabin.
Asa pursed his lips and followed.
But behind him, looking at his brother's back, Asuto's eyes flickered slightly, as if he had made some decision in his heart.
