🕑 Added 2024-10-27 11:54:03 +0000 UTCChapter 206: The leader of the northern rebels, Muzan Kumokawa
In this operation, the main force of land combat is mainly "demons".
The dark rainy night had become their perfect hiding barrier. The thousand-man army dressed in black robes marched along the planned route in almost silence.
But before crossing the river that divides the north and south of the Land of Rain, the overall atmosphere within the Demon Army was still very relaxed.
Snap! Snap! Snap!
"You bastard! I told you not to follow me, but you insisted on following me. You've become very capable, haven't you?"
Several ships full of people were sailing on the river, and in the cabin of one of the ships, Asa held Asuto in his arms, slapped his butt and cursed: "I will kill you today and send your body back to our parents, so that you don't die on the battlefield without even a complete body left behind!"
"Ah! Brother! I was wrong, I was wrong! Stop hitting me, stop hitting me!"
Asuto's fat figure struggled, looking like a fluttering moth, constantly begging for mercy with his teeth bared, trying to awaken the only remaining trace of brotherhood.
But Asa used surprisingly great strength in his hands, and it seemed that he had no feelings for his brother at all. Even Asuto's current physical condition could not bear it.
"If I don't teach you a lesson, you're going to treat war as a joke! Is this a place where you can mess around?!"
Asa was really angry this time. He growled with a sullen face, "Since you entered Valhalla, there is no turning back. If you dare to look back, you will be sentenced as a deserter, and I, your brother, will chop off your head myself!"
Hearing this, Asuto's expression straightened, and he stiffened his neck and said, "No, I just want to fight with you, how can I be a deserter? I'm not being mad, nor am I joking, I'm serious!"
After saying that, taking advantage of the moment when Asa was distracted, he kicked hard and got out from his arms.
"Brat!" Asa came to his senses, his eyes twitched, and he tried to chase him again.
Seeing this, Asuto quickly looked around as if asking for help.
This was a cargo hold filled with military supplies, with stretchers, iron beds, boxes, and it was crowded with people.
Some were lying on the bed with their upper bodies naked, and some were sitting on the floor...
These people were considered Asa's men, and when faced with the fight between the two brothers, they just watched with a smile on their faces, and no one came forward to stop the fight.
"Stop! Captain Asa!"
As Asuto dodged the slap, he raised his voice and shouted, "I am one of you now, and I am your subordinate. You can't hit me anymore. If you do, you are bullying your subordinates. I will complain to Lord Kumokawa!"
Hearing this, Asa's raised hand stopped in mid-air. The other people in the cargo hold were stunned for a moment, and then the whole cargo was filled with laughter.
“Hahahahahaha!”
"Brother Asa, what this kid said makes sense, hahaha!"
"Is this kid Brother, Brother Asa? Why does he look so silly and cunning?"
Asa's face darkened at his subordinates' teasing, and he shouted angrily, "Quiet! Be quiet!"
But the cargo hold was still noisy, which made his face darker. His expression turned cold and he said in a deep voice: "Lower Moon First Regiment! Everyone is included!!"
Bang! Bang!
In the noisy cargo hold, Asa's sound didn't seem to be clear, but the entire cargo hold suddenly became quiet.
Almost all of the nearly one thousand people in the "Lower Moon First Regiment" under Asa survived the battle of Kagero Village, and their combat skills were second only to the elite group in the Land of Whirlpool.
It doesn't matter if they play or make noise at ordinary times. After all, their relationship is as close as wearing a pair of pants. They are companions who have been through life and death together and trust each other. But once Asa gets serious, others will not make mistakes.
Everyone stood in neat and tidy rows. The entire cargo hold was so quiet that even the rustling of clothes was almost inaudible.
For a moment, the only sound around was the rocking of the ship.
Gulp...
Seeing his brother's newly regained cold and hard look, as well as the cold and depressing atmosphere around him, Asuto smiled, slowly closed his open mouth, and swallowed.
"Since you say you are my soldier, I will teach you a good lesson."
Asa spoke with a cold face, then looked at the other two, pointed at them and ordered: "If you are facing a situation where you are sure to die, and you have done what you should do, and you only have the opportunity to say a few words to each other, what would you say?"
The two people pointed out by Asa were stunned for a moment, then looked at each other and fell into a brief silence.
These two people did not know each other. Today, they were assigned to Asa's team and it was the first time they met.
After a brief silence, one of them pursed his lips and smiled, "Brother, can you help me one last time and take good care of my mother and my daughter?"
The other man's pupils froze, and he did not answer whether he would help him, but asked: "What did you call me?"
"Brother."
"Then they are my mother and daughter too."
“Do you understand now?” Asa looked at the stunned Asuto, pointed at the two men expressionlessly, and said, “Everyone standing here has already made up their minds to sacrifice!”
"When two people face a situation where they are sure to die, they can trust each other and stand behind their companions without hesitation, fighting for their companions' chance of survival and blocking the fatal blow!"
As he spoke, Asa extended his index finger, poked Asuto's heart hard, and said coldly: "Once you are on the battlefield, your life is not just yours. Any hesitation will be a betrayal to your companions who are fighting side by side with you!"
"On the battlefield, I will never give you any special treatment. You will only hinder your companions. It is useless to say nice things to you now! So until you are ready, you should just stay behind and be a waste! Do you understand?"
For a moment, the cargo hold fell into an eerie silence, and the only sound that could be heard was some rapid breathing and one's own heartbeat.
But at this moment, someone suddenly pushed open the cabin door, breaking the silence in the cabin.
"Brother Asa." The man first glanced at Asuto, then looked at Asa and said seriously, "We are almost crossing the river, but we found some... people on the riverside."
"...some people?"
Hearing this, Asa no longer paid attention to the dazed Asuto, and squinted his eyes at the river bank in the distance which was gradually becoming clearer.
It was only a few hundred meters away from the river bank, and with his eyesight, he could already see what was happening on the shore.
They were a group of people wearing armor and a very luxurious carriage, chasing a group of unarmed refugees...
No, it’s not so much a “chase” as it is a massacre!
No wonder the person who reported it hesitated suddenly. The way those bastards swung their butcher knives mercilessly, they didn't even consider the refugees as "people". It was like they were chasing and slaughtering a group of pigs and dogs!
"What the hell is Hanzo doing? Is the southern part of the Land of Rain already in such a mess?"
Asa's expression was gloomy, and he said in a cold voice: "Lower Moon One Regiment, everyone, get off the boat and go ashore!"
"I want to see who is causing trouble at home while the external threat is still there!"
“Yes!!” Among the crowd in the cargo hold who were growling coldly, countless pairs of scarlet vertical pupils lit up after being suppressed for a long time.
In the shadows, a pair of vertical pupils with a darker blood color and engraved with fonts silently looked at the tall figure standing in the center of the crowd, and the fat figure behind him who was gradually clenching his fists. The corners of the eyes suddenly curved up, as if smiling.
"Two stubborn boys..."
——————————
"Ah!"
On the river bank, a group of refugees fell to the ground, hugging each other in fear.
A ragged man, whose palm had been chopped off by a knife, rolled on the ground, wailing and screaming.
But inside the carriage, a fat man lifted the curtain and said jokingly, "Haha, it's really more fun outside the city."
He looked down at the man wailing and screaming in the water. The more miserable the man screamed, the happier he laughed.
Finally, as if he was tired of playing, he pointed at the man and said with a smile: "This peasant dared to resist and injured two of my men. Cut off his head and hang it on my carriage!"
As soon as he finished speaking, a warrior in iron armor stepped out from the side of the carriage, drew the sword at his waist, and a cold light flashed.
Phew!
The wailing of pain stopped instantly, and a good man's head rolled down, and the scarlet and glaring blood gathered into a pool.
After seeing this scene, the others were so frightened that they dared not cry anymore. All they could hear was the slight sobbing sound of someone covering their mouths.
Looking at the refugees who were hugging each other, the fat man stroked his beard, as if he had thought of something. He suddenly sneered and said to the warriors outside, "Tell them that I can spare their lives."
"But, only one can be left. Let them discuss and decide which one to keep!"
The warrior's eyes were somewhat helpless, but he still walked up to the refugees and conveyed these words to them expressionlessly.
A glimmer of hope rose in everyone's eyes, but as they looked at each other, they hesitated for a moment.
Only one young man stood up, walked to the warrior, stretched out his hand and said, "Give me a blade."
Looking down at the short boy, the warrior frowned and was about to refuse, but an interested voice came from the carriage behind him: "Give it to him."
A samurai's sword is undoubtedly his second life. The fat man's order made the samurai's expression a little stiff, but he still looked at the young man with cold eyes, drew out the sword from his waist and handed it to him.
The thin boy took the sword in his hand, and the weight of the sword made him stagger. Under the mocking gaze of the samurai, he slowly turned around, raised the sword, and looked at the refugees.
"Right, right, right. Kill them all and only then you will be left." The fat man laughed excitedly, "I admire you, kid. Trash is trash and it should be cleaned up!"
At the moment when the sarcastic words fell, the heavy sword in the boy's hand fell.
However, he did not attack the refugees in front of him who were filled with fear.
Instead, he used the weight of his sword to turn around and slash at the warriors behind him.
clang!!
The sudden sound of metal clashing pierced everyone's eardrums like needles.
"……pity."
The young man looked at the long sword in front of him that was blocked by a wakizashi. The remaining ferocious look on his face gradually faded away, and he became expressionless or numb again.
Everyone looked at this scene in amazement. No one had expected that this skinny kid would dare to attack the samurai with the sword given to him by the samurai.
Although the warrior did not expect to be caught off guard, the gap between the two sides cannot be made up so easily.
He reacted almost instantly and pulled out the wakizashi from the other side of his waist. Even with only one hand, he was able to easily block the boy's full-strength attack.
"You little brat who overestimates your own abilities, are you looking for death?!" Veins popped out on the warrior's forehead and he said with a gloomy expression.
"I know exactly what you guys are thinking!"
The young man sneered emotionlessly, "Even if I kill everyone else, I will still die in the end. In that case, I might as well drag one person down with me before I die. It's a pity that I didn't expect you to be so afraid of death that you carry two blades with you!"
Hearing this, the warrior's face darkened and he was extremely angry. He didn't care what the Noble in the carriage behind him thought. He raised his other arm that was not holding a sword and hit the boy's heart hard.
BANG!!
In an instant, the young man flew backwards, and the blood he spat out drew a dark red arc in the air. The unusually crisp sound of bones cracking could also be clearly heard.
"Lord……"
The warrior turned around and looked at the carriage. He bowed his head respectfully and was about to apologize, but he heard a cold voice: "Boring, just kill all of them."
Hearing this, the warrior breathed a sigh of relief, bowed his head and replied, "Yes."
Looking at the tall warrior walking towards him, the young man who was helped up by the refugees slowly closed his eyes.
Finally, this world full of misfortune is coming to an end...
When the boy was in a trance, the warrior walked up to them and raised his sword, but he saw that in the boy's eyes that were about to close, besides his own reflection, a hint of blood suddenly appeared.
"Blood Demon Art: Flying Sickle Kick!"
As the cold and stern voice came from behind him, the warrior who had no time to turn around only heard the sound of flesh and blood being broken.
Puff! !
————————
After an unknown amount of time, there seemed to be light shining on the boy's eyelids.
The feeling stimulated his eyeballs and woke him up from his slumber.
When he regained consciousness, the boy's eyelids trembled slightly and he felt a voice appear beside his ears, as if two people were having a conversation.
"I'm sorry, Lord Kumokawa..."
"It's okay. You did the right thing. Liberating the southern part of the Land of Rain was one of the goals of this operation."
"And what about the things you gave them to drink?"
“It’s just boiling water.”
"I thought..."
"You think it's 'blood'? I'm not that extravagant. Besides, it's not just me who can save them. There's only one person who can save them."
"Who?"
"They themselves ..."
At this point, the gentle voice suddenly paused, then smiled and said, "did you wake you up?"
The young boy slowly woke up and opened his eyes, and found two people looking at him from not far away. It was obvious that the conversation he just heard came from them.
One of them was covered in a black robe and his face could not be seen clearly, but his figure coincided with the last figure seen before he fell into a coma.
‘Is he the one who saved me?’ the young man thought to himself and looked at the other person.
The man had a gentle smile and a ruddy face, and it was obvious from his appearance that he was a noble.
The person who wanted to kill him before was a noble, and the person who saved him now is also a noble?
Why?
The boy didn't understand, but someone soon explained it to him.
“You, you are…”
The warrior also woke up, but at this moment, his hands and feet were broken. He looked at the "noble" in shock and anger, and said in a cold voice: "The leader of the northern rebels, Muzan Kumokawa!"
Hearing this title, Kumokawa couldn't help but be stunned for a moment. He turned his head and looked at Asa beside him, and both of them couldn't help laughing.
"You actually call us rebels?"
Kumokawa didn't even bother to correct his last name, and just asked in a ridiculous tone, "I'm curious about when I became a rebellion."
"Have you ever cared about people's hearts from the beginning to the end?”
