"Oh?"
In the Hall of Heroes, Kumokawa looked at the gentle and delicate Priestess in front of him, narrowed his eyes and smiled sincerely, saying, “Priestess, you mean, 'Son of Disaster'. This title was given to me by the old toad..."
"But you prefer to call me 'the one who defies fate'? In other words, you and that old toad have different attitudes towards me, an outlier?"
At this moment, after listening to Miroku's explanation, Yahiko beside him had already lost his mind and muttered, "What the hell is this?"
What is this "Great Toad Sage", what is this "Three Holy Places", what is this "prophetic ability", what is this "Son of Disaster", what is this "Fate-Defying Person"...
Has the water in the ninja world always been so deep?
Yahiko felt extremely awkward and uncomfortable, especially towards that "Great Toad Sage". He always had a feeling of being stripped naked and seen through.
"Indeed."
Ignoring Kumokawa's disrespectful address to Gamamaru, Miroku nodded slightly and said in a gentle tone: "As a priestess, I can also see a little bit of what the Great Toad Sage can see."
"But what I want is different from what he wants. We are also different in nature, so our views on things are naturally different."
Kumokawa thought quickly and said, "If I'm not mistaken, the old toad is trying to maintain the rule of Mount Myoboku and live forever as an immortal?"
"So, in its eyes, I am undoubtedly the 'Son of Disaster' because I will pose a threat to the three holy places in the future..."
After that, he raised his eyelids, looked at the priestess in front of him, and said with a smile: "What about you? What does your so-called 'defiant' mean? From what perspective do you get it?"
Miroku did not rush to answer his question, but asked a seemingly irrelevant question in return.
"Kumokawa-sama, you didn't seem surprised to see me, so I guess you know about my existence. Do you know anything about the 'Land of Demons' and 'demons'?"
Kumokawa's eyes flickered slightly, and he said bluntly: "I do know, but not much."
The only big countries in the ninja world are the Land of Fire, the Land of Earth, the Land of Water, the Land of Wind, and the Land of Lightning, but apart from them, not all small countries will be classified as neutral countries.
For example, the Land of Rain, the Land of River, the Land of Grass... Although these countries are small, they are still in danger of being destroyed by big countries.
Only small countries with very remote locations and special significance, such as the Land of Snow, the Land of Iron, and the Land of Hot Waters, can become neutral countries.
The Land of Demons is also a neutral country, and even the most special one among them.
Its ruling model is different from most countries in the ninja world.
Because the Land of Demons is a country that is not ruled by a "daimyo".
The supreme ruler is not a daimyo, but a being called "High Priestess", who can be regarded as an outlier in the ninja world.
As a "High Priestess" who holds power in the Land of Demons, she possesses the mysterious power to see into the future, and also possesses unknown mysterious sealing abilities, shouldering the responsibility of guarding and sealing "demons".
As for the upper limit and principle of the predictive ability, as well as the existence of the demon "Mōryō", Kumokawa didn't quite understand it.
He only knew that the monster named "Mōryō" seemed impossible to be completely killed, and only the "Priestess" could seal it, which was one of the reasons why the Land of Demons became a neutral country.
The ability of the priestess to predict the future is only widely known in the Land of Demons and its surrounding countries.
Just ask the nobles and commoners of the Land of Demons, and they will tell you that the priestess' ability to predict the future is 100% accurate, and there has not been a single mistake so far.
“Ha~”
After Kumokawa finished speaking, the black cat, who had been curled up in his arms, stretched out her body, yawned loudly, opened her eyes and looked at Miroku, and said calmly: "But, as far as I know, the facts do not seem to be the case."
"The ability of the Priestess is not so much about predicting the future as it is about... predicting death?"
Hearing this, Miroku glanced at Ayumi in Kumokawa's arms, and a hint of surprise flashed across her originally calm eyes.
In her current state, she could naturally see that this "cat" was strange and it was not some kind of transformation.
The human soul is a fusion of the colors of "wind" and "cat"? It is not a fusion that is forced together by "external forces", but an extremely natural fusion, with no rejection at all.
"I didn't know that. Is that really the case, priestess-sama?"
Kumokawa stroked the cat's head, looked up at the priestess in front of him, smiled slightly and said, "If the priestess's real ability is to predict death, since I appear in your prophecy, does that mean..."
"Did you see my 'death'?"
Miroku came back to her senses, met those meaningful blue eyes, and subconsciously shook her head: "No, quite the opposite."
She paused, calmed down a little, and said in a gentle tone: "Yes, you are right. Maybe for others, this is just a topic of conversation after dinner, but the priestesses of all generations do have the ability to predict death."
"This ability comes from the inheritance of the priestess. It is both a gift and a curse. One can only see death but cannot change it. One can only watch death come as expected. There has never been any mistake in the past thousand years."
"Until one day, I foresaw the death of a noble son of the Land of Rain..."
At this point, Miroku looked at Kumokawa with a deep look in her eyes and smiled, "After that, I seemed to have lost the ability to predict death, and I never saw the future of anyone dying again."
The son of a noble from the Land of Rain?
Kumokawa immediately understood that it was the first day he came into this world, when he was killed by a Sand Ninja.
Could the priestess's loss of the ability to predict death be related to his resurrection?
"I know this must be related to the son of that noble, but because the Second Shinobi World War has started again, the sealed monster 'Mōryō' has shown signs of escaping, so I have been busy reinforcing the seal of 'Mōryō'."
Miroku intertwined her hands and folded them in front of her, and said with a smile: "It was not until recently that I foresaw information related to you again and received the 'reminder' from the great toad sage that I decided to take the time to visit here in person."
"Now it seems that it was worth my trip from the Land of Demons to the Land of Rain to take a look, and not to believe the 'disaster' he mentioned in the letter."
Hearing the Old Toad's "remind" her, Kumokawa couldn't help but smile. He followed her gaze to the white monument and asked, "So, what do you think?"
Miroku shook her head and said, "Can you please tell me first why you are doing this?"
Why?
Kumokawa turned around and looked at the huge white monument, his eyes swept over the name on the monument.
His eyes were cold and indifferent, and the blue candlelight on both sides shone on his face. He suddenly smiled and asked, "Do you want to hear a nice explanation or a bad explanation?"
Miroku pursed her lips and smiled: "Let's listen to the former first."
Kumokawa lowered his eyelids and said in a deep voice, "Nature is to benefit the living, to give hope to those who are walking, to give glory to the dead, to give peace to those who are resting, and to respect the dead."
"In order to make them worry-free in life and worry-free in death, to have a direction when walking, peace when resting, and dignity when stopping, so that they will have no regrets in life and no complaints after death."
His voice became deeper and deeper, as if he was telling an ancient fable. The area in front of the stele became his stage, and his voice echoed in the empty hall.
Only when the words gradually faded away did the sound disappear and everything returned to complete silence.
"Boss?"
After a brief moment of shock, Yahiko looked towards Kumokawa with eyes filled with burning enthusiasm.
Is the boss's ambition so great? !
It's really exciting...
"Then, what about the latter?" Miroku asked with a smile.
"I have no fear of death."
Kumokawa stroked the soft black cat in his arms, turned to look at Miroku and said frankly: "But I admire their courage to die, and the brilliance of their humanity when they die, just like the brilliance of fireworks when they bloom."
"So, if you ask me why I do this, I can say that I did it on impulse, and I am not reluctant to sing praises for their courage."
Upon hearing this, Yahiko, who was originally full of enthusiasm, suddenly froze, as if a basin of cold water was poured over him from head to toe.
Is this the art of language?
If you think about it carefully, it's obviously the same meaning, but when you hear it, why do you feel two completely different feelings?
"You are worthy of the name of 'defiant'."
Compared to the worried Yahiko, Miroku smiled more deeply and said with emotion: "Although the future you want is difficult to achieve, everyone here is no longer afraid of death, so I think you may really be able to do it."
Why do humans value the continuation and inheritance of offspring?
One of the important reasons is that people can still remember us after we die.
In a person's life, true death does not mean the heart stops beating or breathing stops, nor does it mean the body is buried and people attend the funeral wearing black clothes.
But the last person in this world who remembers you will forget you, and the whole world will no longer have anything to do with you.
But in this world where life is as cheap as grass, when you die, you are dead, and there is nothing left.
Now, with Miroku's vision, she can naturally see the purpose of the Hall of Heroes and the Monument to the Heroes built by Kumokawa, and it can be said that they have perfectly solved these problems.
If someone unfortunately dies in battle, his name will be engraved in Valhalla, and there is hope that his spirit will return to the monument and live another life.
From now on, as long as the City of Dawn is not dead and as long as Kumokawa really gets the "Pure Land", then those whose names are engraved on the Monument to Heroes, even if they die, can live another life in the "Pure Land" as the "Shinigami".
Even if you cannot see your loved ones again, you can still live forever in the memories of others and enjoy the sacrifices and respects of everyone.
This is the true meaning of sharing the same fate with the country, sharing the same sacrifices with the country, and being immortal with the country.
In Miroku's view, once the news of Valhalla and the Monument to the Heroes is made public, all the people recruited here will be fearless and brave, and may even commit "suicide" actions by dying together with the enemy on the battlefield.
Because they had nothing worth clinging to during their lifetime, they can enjoy all the honors by dying as heroes on the battlefield.
During their lifetime, they would be granted titles for their merits and given all kinds of benefits, which made people happy when they heard about the war.
There are also monuments to heroes after death, which give them the fullest honor and allow people to die without fear.
Such measures will surely create an invincible army with unity, solidarity and loyalty until death.
Of course, in this world where extremely strong personal power exists, the prerequisite is that Kumokawa also has matching strength.
Thinking of the "well-intentioned" "reminder" from the great toad sage, Miroku sighed in her heart and said sorry.
"So, priestess-sama, have you decided to come and help me?" Kumokawa asked directly at this time.
Miroku came back to her senses, her whole body glowing, she smiled and nodded: "I am willing to bring the entire Land of Demons and contribute my insignificant strength. I may not be able to help in times of need, but I just hope to add icing on the cake."
"But before that, I have one more favor to ask of you."
Standing directly on the opposite side of the holy land, giving a huge gift for no reason, and leading the entire Land of Demons to submit to Kumokawa, she will naturally have her own requests.
Kumokawa was not surprised either. He just raised his eyebrows and asked with a smile, "Let me guess, is it 'Mōryō?"
He had already heard about the monster "Mōryō" in the Land of Demons, and had also collected some information from the ancient books of the Uzumaki clan.
Demons have existed since ancient times.
Before the Six Paths Sage founded the Ninshu, ninjas were not yet mainstream. The ninja world was still in chaos with demons rampant. Countless demons were born, which fed on human flesh and blood and had brutal personalities, bringing terrible damage to the human kingdom at that time.
However, the information about demons is only sporadic and many things cannot be verified.
All we know is that the demons have immortal qualities similar to the tailed beasts, and they can only be sealed with the power of the Priestess.
They once controlled an army of stone statues similar to the Terracotta Warriors to invade and kill various countries, causing extremely bad consequences.
Precisely because demons can only be restrained by the power of the priestess, they are very difficult for ordinary humans to deal with.
"Yes and no."
Facing Kumokawa's guess, Miroku nodded first, but soon shook her head: "The power of the demons comes from human desires. Whenever there is a war in the ninja world, the seal that binds the demons will loosen."
"If you want to achieve the future you want, it will inevitably be accompanied by war and sacrifice, and the escape of the demons is the inevitable result."
Hearing this, Kumokawa asked curiously, "So? You want me to help you seal the demon again? Or, find a way to get rid of the demon once and for all?"
For some reason, Miroku suddenly fell silent.
After a moment, she pursed her lips, lowered her eyes, and said slowly: "No, actually, I hope you can help me... give birth to the next generation."
“……”
Yahiko slowly opened his mouth.
Kumokawa stopped stroking the black cat.
Ayumi's comfortable snoring also stopped.
For a moment, the hall fell into silence, so quiet that one could hear a pin drop.
After a long moment, Yahiko shouted in surprise: "You want my boss to have a baby with you?!"
Author - She is not the heroine.
