The other side.
A huge snake covered in wounds jumped out of the water from the coastline of the Land of Fire, spitting out a large amount of soil and several Konoha ninjas including Orochimaru.
After landing, Orochimaru looked at the dying brown giant snake, pulled out the Sword of Kusanagi from his mouth and swung it with his hand, relieving the giant snake's pain.
Then with a "bang", the giant snake's body turned into smoke and disappeared without a trace.
"Orochimaru-sama, the main injuries of Nara Jonin and Akimichi Jonin were due to exhaustion of chakra, and the rest of their injuries are not serious."
Yakushi Nono respectfully knelt on one knee and reported the situation to Orochimaru.
"Um."
Orochimaru nodded indifferently, his mind still recalling that somewhat interesting little kid.
Although illusion was not his strongest skill, the little kid, who had only the strength of a Chunin at most, seemed to have no reaction at all.
It’s a pity that this good research material is a ninja from the Kirigakure Village. I don’t know if I will have the chance to see him again in the future.
Orochimaru came back to his senses, looked at Yakushi Nono who was still kneeling on one knee, and spoke softly.
"Tell me why this mission failed."
Yakushi Nono organized her words and told Orochimaru in detail what happened today.
"I was careless at the time. I wasn't sure whether the other party had suspected my identity. I was worried that taking action on the spot would alert the enemy. It was not until the signal flare was launched in the camp that I realized the mission had failed."
"Haha, was it that little brat who discovered it? What an interesting little fellow."
Orochimaru licked his lips with some aftertaste and continued.
"Get up. I won't tell Danzo about this. You should help treat the wounded in the medical camp for the time being."
"Thank you, Orochimaru-sama!"
Yakushi Nono stood up respectfully and consciously carried the two unconscious jonin on her back.
However, Orochimaru waved his hand to stop het, and summoned another giant snake to carry away the two people and other corpses.
After returning to the camp, Ao and Kushimaru were immediately sent to the medical tent.
Yagura was clearly here to replace the front-line commander, but as soon as he arrived at the camp, he went to rescue the pursuit squad.
At this time, he was not busy handing over the position with Suikazan Fuguki. Instead, he accompanied Team Ao to the medical tent.
However, the other party was the highest person in charge on the front line after all, and Kaito and the others could not control what the other party wanted to do, so they could only stay quietly with Ao.
Fortunately, doctors on the front line confirmed that although Ao's injuries were serious, they were still curable and there would be no sequelae.
This is similar to the judgment made by Kaito himself.
After all, in such a large front-line medical force, there are many people whose medical skills are better than Kaito's. Even Kaito himself, given enough time, can completely heal Ao's injuries.
Not to mention the current head of the Medical Uint, who is even better than Yakushi Nono in terms of medical skills alone.
It’s a pity that the other party is busy with management work most of the time. This is why Kaito had been staying next to a spy to ask for medical advice.
As if seeing that the others had let go of their worries about Ao, Yagura also withdrew his gaze and turned to chat with Kaito.
"I remember that Genin Kaito was a student in the same class as Zabuza?"
On the way back, the few of them had already briefly reported the general information of this pursuit mission to Yagura.
So Mirukawa Kaito didn’t understand why the other party started asking about his identity again at this time?
‘You act like you don't know me at all?’ However, Kaito didn't dare to confront Yagura directly with his true feelings, so he could only go along with what he said.
"Yes, but I didn't graduate from a ninja school. I switched to participating in medical ninja training midway, and finally became a Genin as a medical ninja."
"I heard that you developed quite a few ninjutsu yourself?"
"Well, they are just some minor ninjutsu, and they are still not as powerful as your Water Mirror Jutsu, Jōnin Yagura."
Kaito didn't understand what was going on and started having an awkward conversation with Yagura.
"It's already amazing. I didn't expect that Genin Kaito could now kill Jonin alone. It's a pity that a genius like you is still just a Genin now."
"Thank you for your praise, Jōnin Yagura. It was just a fluke."
"Kaito, you don't seem to be a perception ninja? Have you ever considered transferring out of the Perception Unit?"
Well, now Kaito finally understood. It turned out that the reason they were chatting here for so long was to poach him because he had just changed jobs.
However, although Yagura is now the representative of the civilian faction and the front-line commander, and may even become the Mizukage in the future, he is really involved in too many troubles.
Moreover, his own captain is currently injured and in a coma. If he changes jobs at this time, he might have to change his surname to Lu in the future. Mirukawa Kaito is ready to decisively reject the other party.
However, Yagura spoke first.
"There's no rush for this matter. You can discuss it with Jonin Ao after he recovers and then make a decision."
After saying that, Yagura turned and left the tent, leaving the three little ones looking at each other in the corner.
"Does Jonin Yagura want Kaito to be transferred under his command?" After hearing the whole thing, Terumi Mei asked half-doubtfully.
"Maybe? But I don't have any intention of changing teams."
Although Ao never said that he would formally accept the team members as students, his actual actions had completely exceeded the scope of a captain, and Kaito naturally would not think of changing his allegiance.
Just say it directly to save your teammates from having to think too much.
Zabuza on the side had a strange expression on his face, but he didn't say anything in the end.
After some busy treatment by the doctors of the Medical Unit, Ao woke up from his coma.
However, his severely injured left leg has not yet fully recovered, and it is estimated that he will not be suitable for outdoor missions in the short term.
However, the previous leader of the Perception Unit, Chūkichi, had already returned to the village for treatment after being injured, so Ao had no choice but to drag his injured leg and continue to be responsible for the overall coordination and dispatch work at the front line.
It is indeed ironic that two consecutive commanders of the Perception Unit were ambushed and injured.
As a result, some senior officials in the camp have some distrust in the current strength of the Perception Unit.
Fortunately, the commander-in-chief of the front line is now replaced by Yagura, who has some friendship with Ao, and the two have a certain tacit understanding in dealing with many things.
At least it's much more comfortable than when Suikazan Fuguki was in charge of the camp.
Therefore, Kaito didn't say anything to Ao about Yagura's previous attempt to poach his students.
So as to avoid any rift between the two of them.
In the following days, perhaps because of the performance of Kaito and the other two in the previous pursuit battle, Ao gained some confidence in the current strength of the three.
Now that he is injured and unable to move, Ao no longer simply arranges some routine patrol tasks.
He can be rest assured to let the three little ones and other ninjas from the Perception Unit go to the territory of the Land of Fire to carry out some more dangerous tasks.
However, the conflict on the border of the Land of Fire is now intensifying, which makes everyone feel that a storm is about to come.
