Looking at the tragic situation in the Konohagakure camp, it was more of a naked massacre than an attack on the camp.
After taking a quick look around and not seeing Yakushi Nono and the jōnin of the Akimichi clan, Kaito completely gave up the idea of joining the attack.
While they were on the way, all the Kirigakure ninjas learned that their front-line camp had been attacked by Konoha, but since the higher-ups had ordered them not to go back to rescue, these Kirigakure ninjas could only vent their anger on the Konohagakure camp in front of them.
At this time, there were less than a thousand people in the Konohagakure camp, and most of them were medical or logistical personnel. They were completely unable to stop the attack of these blood mist ninjas who were red-eyed with murderous intent.
Most of the Kirigakure ninjas who arrived later have already begun to destroy various material facilities in the Konohagakure camp, collect intelligence information, and capture important members.
Biwa Juzo, who had also joined the team earlier, took some ninjas and went deeper into the territory, choosing to destroy the supply lines and important roads within the Land of Fire.
"Is there any point in destroying Konoha's supply lines now?"
Mei, who also did not participate in the massacre, asked with some confusion.
"The purpose of the frontline leaders should be to prevent Konoha ninjas from continuing to station large numbers of troops on the border for a period of time."
Kaito thought for a moment and continued.
"Since there is no way to cause numerical losses to the Konoha ninjas, then we should prevent these ninjas from staying on the front lines for a long time, and create a short period of manpower vacuum before the supply lines are restored."
"On the contrary, our Kirigakure relies on sea transportation for supplies. Even if we fail temporarily, as long as we have enough ninjas, we can still fight."
This is also the consensus of several Kirigakure commanders in the Land of Fire. Even if Orochimaru wins temporarily, Konoha will not be able to continue confronting Kirigakure at the border of the Land of Fire due to logistical constraints.
This will ensure that the Kirigakure Village will continue to have control over the Land of Whirlpool.
At this time, there were still a large number of ninjas in the Kirigakure Village who did not participate in the war, and more than half of the ninjas in the front-line camps were scattered across the territory of the Land of Fire. The actual losses were not as great as imagined.
If Konoha falls into decline in the later period, as long as the Land of Whirlpool camp is still there, the Kirigakure Village will still have the opportunity to launch an offensive against the Land of Fire.
Mei nodded thoughtfully, but still spoke with some concern.
"I hope Ao-sensei is okay."
"Don't worry, Ao-sensei's ability to save lives is first-rate."
Although he comforted Mei, Kaito was still worried about Ao. After all, Ao was still injured and it was too dangerous to be on such a battlefield.
Feeling a little bored, Kaito had nothing to do, so he randomly grabbed an injured Kiri Ninja and treated him.
Not long after, Zabuza and Kisame also finished their battle and returned here.
Kaito saw that the two men were not injured and did not pay too much attention to it, and continued to treat the wounded.
Among them, there were even a few unlucky ones who had been injured when they were causing destruction in the Land of Fire. They simply bandaged themselves and did not receive any effective treatment at all.
Now that they saw there was a doctor seeing patients here, they hurried over to ask for help.
"Not bad, little doctor!"
A handsome young man with white hair praised with a mouth full of sharp teeth.
As soon as he finished speaking, he was slapped on the head by a thick-browed senior ninja beside him.
Several people nearby were so frightened that they almost drew their weapons and prepared to attack.
But then they saw that the white-haired young man with a broken head did not splatter any blood. Instead, his head turned into a ball of clear water and then slowly recovered.
The thick-browed jōnin also said unhappily.
"Shingetsu, Doctor Mirukawa is treating Azusa, please speak politely!"
"Okay, Captain! Sorry, Doctor Mirukawa."
This guy from the Hozuki clan was very sincere. He first responded to his captain and then immediately apologized to Kaito.
Kaito opened his mouth slightly, but finally gave up explaining.
‘Forget it, a doctor is a doctor. Why would I bother with these killers from the Kirigakure Village?’
However, although he did not stop the treatment, Kaito still took a quick look at this guy named Hozuki Shingetsu.
'This guy who didn't appear in the original novel, what is his relationship with Hozuki Mangetsu and Hozuki Suigetsu?'
After treating many wounded people in succession, although there were still many people waiting for treatment, other Kirigakure ninjas had completely destroyed the Konohagakure camp and began to clean up the battlefield.
One of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen, Akebino Jinin, instantly stood on a wooden stake in the center of the camp and started shouting.
"All Kirigakure ninjas, listen up! Divide into three teams and disperse back to the Land of Whirlpool camp immediately!"
Most of the ninjas have not yet recovered from the excitement of killing, and only a few ninja teams have begun to plan their direction and prepare to return.
‘We're going to split up into small groups and return? That's very ninja-like.’
Kaito had thought about this matter when he was treating these ninjas just now.
Now, even though the Kirigakure troops had the upper hand here and destroyed the Konohagakure camp directly, there were still a large number of ninja teams scattered near the border of the Land of Fire that had not gathered.
A small number of them did not receive the intelligence conveyed by the front-line communications team, and most of them were because the initial information they received was to cause as much damage as possible to attract Konoha's attention, so their direction of advance was not at all towards the Konohagakure camp, resulting in the distance being too far to arrive.
Therefore, if these ninjas who have gathered and destroyed the Konohagakure camp now act in unison and run into the returning army led by Orochimaru, they will most likely be wiped out.
By then, all previous efforts will be in vain.
On the contrary, a dispersed retreat can more effectively preserve combat effectiveness. Grouping into three teams can also ensure that they will not be easily dealt with by Konoha's reconnaissance team, leaving enough confidence for the continued confrontation with Konoha.
Just when Kaito was still thinking about the situation on the front line.
Seeing that the healing work on Kaito's hands had been completed, the thick-browed jōnin pulled him over and said with a smile.
"What do you think? Doctor Mirukawa. Would you consider bringing your team with us?"
Several ninjas who were waiting for treatment nearby were originally thinking that they should retreat immediately according to their superiors' orders, and it was a pity that Kaito could not stay to treat them.
When they heard what the thick-browed senior ninja said, their eyes immediately lit up. However, there was only one senior ninja, Thick-browed, present, and the others did not dare to speak out for Kaito. They could only wait for these two to make a decision.
Only Zabuza stared at the jōnin's eyebrows for a long time before turning his head away.
Kaito didn't mind returning with a senior ninja, as it would be relatively safer, so he nodded and agreed happily.
"No problem, then just get another team."
As soon as Kaito finished speaking, a voice came from above his head.
"Then both of your teams should come with me."
