Kaito gave Shimotsuki Ichiro an apologetic smile, then stood up and opened the door.
Outside the door was Terumi Mei, who looked a little anxious.
"What happened?"
Seeing that Mei looked a little strange, Kaito immediately became serious.
Mei glanced at Shimotsuki Ichiro standing beside her somewhat uncomfortably.
"Ao-sensei asked us to come over. There is something that needs to be notified."
"What about the mission to protect Shimotsuki-san?"
After all, he is the protection target of this actual mission, and it is not good to always leave the old man alone.
However, as a man of great age, Shimotsuki Ichiro could tell from Mei's expression that something important must have happened.
He said with a very cheerful smile.
"It's okay, you go ahead, Kaito boy. What kind of danger could there be on the ship? I'll study this ninja tool here, and we'll talk when you come back."
"Thank you Shimotsuki-san for your understanding. Blue, you stay here to protect Shimotsuki-san's safety."
First, he apologized to Shimotsuki Ichiro, and in the second half of the sentence, Kaito made arrangements for Blue.
"Quack~ (v)"
The combat power of Blue, who has just evolved, is not weak. On a passenger ship sailing like this, even if he encounters danger, there will be no problem in making some noise to delay time until Kaito and others can arrive.
The old man just smiled when he heard it and didn't take it too seriously. Instead, he waved to Blue to show his friendliness.
However, Kaito's words when he walked out of the cabin still made old man Shimotsuki excited.
"Shimotsuki-san, I will consider the weapon forging. You can use this time to think about the forging direction."
After saying that, without caring about Shimotsuki Ichiro's excited expression, he closed the door and followed Mei who seemed a little anxious.
"What happened?"
"Come in first."
Since the team members bought tickets and boarded the ship together, the rooms were basically next to each other. It only took a few steps for the two of them to reach Ao's guest room.
The first thing Kaito saw when he entered the room was not to look at Ao and Zabuza who were already seated, but to look at the two small coffins standing in the corner of the room.
"Two living people were sealed in ninja tools for so many days, and Ao-sensei was actually able to sleep."
Seeing that Mei had already brought Kaito over, Ao did not explain the situation directly.
Instead, he habitually formed hand seals and released a perception ninjutsu to make sure that no one else was eavesdropping.
Then he looked at his three students and spoke.
"Just now, I received information from Jōnin Yagura. The Land of Water has officially declared war on the Land of Fire."
After saying this, Ao paused and looked at his students.
However, when Kaito heard the news, his heartbeat just quickened slightly, and he didn't have any other special reaction.
When I first learned that the Third Ninja World War was about to begin, I was nervous and anxious for a long time.
However, the Kirigakure Village has yet to officially intervene in the war, and has long since calmed down.
Hearing this news now, I felt like a rock had finally fallen from my chest.
Zabuza put his hands behind his head and spoke with an indifferent look on his face.
"The village has been preparing for war for two months. It's not surprising that they're only declaring war now, right?"
When Ao heard Zabuza's somewhat arrogant voice, he did not feel unhappy at all. Instead, he felt relieved.
After returning to the village, they might directly receive war missions. What Ao is most worried about is that the two students who have just graduated less than a year ago may have problems with their mentality.
But now seeing the condition of Kaito and Zabuza, Ao was no longer worried and continued.
"Jōnin Yagura's original intention was that if we hadn't completed the mission, we should rush back to the village as soon as possible. He probably didn't expect that we would find the target of our investigation so quickly."
They can't just get off the boat and run back to the village from the sea now. Besides, there was a living person, Shimotsuki Ichiro, who needed to be escorted. The so-called rushing back as soon as possible was naturally nonsense now.
"So after we return to the village, will we be assigned war missions?"
Mei, who had been a little nervous from the beginning, asked.
This is also the issue that Kaito is most concerned about. After all, the village cannot send all the ninjas to the battlefield as soon as the war starts. It would be best if they could have more time for development.
"It is not certain yet, but the first batch of troops to establish an outpost may have already set out. Even if we receive a war mission in the future, it should be an independent mission in the form of a small team."
In fact, Ao didn't tell the whole truth.
According to common sense, new jonin like Ao are not important combat forces and will not be transferred away specifically.
However, Ao is still a Perception Ninja.
The Kirigakure Village is not like Konoha, which has the Hyuga, Aburame, Inuzuka, and various other sensory ninja clans, and can easily form a professional sensory unit.
If the village really needed to organize a Perception Unit and transferred Ao away, the team would probably be disbanded. In order not to worry the students, Ao did not mention this possibility.
As the student who had followed Ao the longest, Mei vaguely guessed some of the situations, but after thinking about it, she chose to remain silent.
But after all, participating in the war is something he will do after returning to the village, so Ao decided to change the subject.
"I called you here for another reason. I have already sent the general information of this investigation back to Jōnin Yagura through the Ninja Eagle. I didn't intend to tell you which clan was smuggling."
"Ao-sensei is afraid that we will be involved in the internal fighting in the village." Kaito made a timely comment.
"Yes, but considering that you may need to be more careful in the future, I decided to remind you."
Having said that, Ao rubbed his eyebrows and his voice became slightly lower.
"It is recorded in the account books this time that the Yuki Clan and the Taitun Clan were both involved in smuggling. But it is not certain which family trained the pirates before." ( I Couldn't find anything about the Taitun clan. Maybe it's an OC clan. If anyone knows it just tell me I will change it)
"The Yuki Clan?"
Kaito was a little surprised. He didn't have much of an impression of the Taitun clan, but the Yuki clan was the famous Kirigakure bloodline clan.
Since the character Haku, who is a member of the Yuki Clan in the original work, is very likable, Kaito has a certain filter for this Clan.
But think about it, in such a large ninja clan, how could it be possible that all the members are as pure and flawless as Yuki Haku?
Zabuza may have no good feelings towards these ninja clans because of Karatachi Yagura. He sneered and said.
"They'd better not think about doing anything behind our back!"
Ao did not refute anything. He said these things to his students just to remind them to be safe.
It’s okay inside the Kirigakure Village, but on the battlefield, the attack may not necessarily come from the front.
"In short, you should be more careful next time."
Kaito and the other two nodded in agreement at the same time.
