The Land of Rain, The City of Dawn.
It is already late at night, with only a few lights in the greenhouse still on.
Snap!
"Uncle Aki! I knew you were here. The boss asked me to come...!" Yahiko pushed open the door of the greenhouse and shouted.
But before he could finish his words, a warm breeze with the sour smell of a coal stove and a feeling of tightness in his chest hit him directly.
"Pfft! What's that smell?"
Yahiko staggered due to the smell and his face couldn't help but wrinkle.
But soon, as if he thought of something, his face suddenly changed and he rushed into the greenhouse holding his breath.
A moment later, Yahiko dragged Aki, whose face was flushed, out of the greenhouse.
Before he could catch his breath, the arm that was holding Aki was thrown away, causing Yahiko to turn his head subconsciously.
"Ahem! Yahiko boy, what are you doing?"
Aki coughed a few times, and the redness on his face faded a little. He said angrily, "I was observing the results of the experiment. Why did you pull me out?!"
Yahiko couldn't help but twitch his eyes, and said speechlessly: "If I had come a little later, your body would have been completely cold. Didn't you feel dizzy, tinnitus, and suffocation?"
Upon hearing this, Aki, who was originally immersed in the agricultural experiment, finally reacted. He felt a black screen in front of his eyes and staggered, and was supported by Yahiko beside him.
"Cough, cough! Cough!"
After a while, he took a few breaths and recovered. He looked at Yahiko who was worried beside him and scratched his head a little embarrassedly: "Sorry, Yahiko, I thought I was too excited so I had trouble breathing and felt a little dizzy."
During this period, he followed Kumokawa's advice and borrowed several people from the biological research and development department of the Academy of Sciences. Then, as if something had dawned on him, all kinds of inspiration came pouring out like a spring.
He used to be a commoner who helped the nobles manage the fields. Although he liked to figure out some little farming techniques, he had little education and did not understand any principles. He was just a typical "pragmatist".
Simply put, if he didn't understand something, he would just try it out without any systematic theoretical system. Sometimes he would accidentally discover an interesting phenomenon, but it would be impossible to reproduce it a second time.
But recently he has been absorbing theoretical knowledge and scientific research methods like a sponge, making him feel as if he is on a smooth road with no end in sight.
During this period of time, he was studying, verifying his previous brilliant ideas, making systematic summaries, and teaching his experiences to others.
With a large number of "small trumpets", they opened a field. This time there were more people, and unlike before when they only planted one crop, this time they planted all the crops together. They almost lived and ate in the greenhouse.
"Didn't the boss arrange a helper for you?" Yahiko rolled his eyes in annoyance. "What's wrong with that Nagato guy? He was willing to let an old man like you do the experiment by yourself?"
"Why do I need help? That brat at home is enough for me."
Aki's face looked much better. He waved His hand and said nonchalantly, "I suddenly had an idea before going to bed, so I didn't tell him and secretly ran here to verify it... By the way, what's the matter with you?"
Yahiko was about to say something, but when he heard the last sentence, he slapped his forehead, pulled up his arm, and walked with big strides while shouting: "I almost forgot about the important matter. The boss asked me to call you to the meeting!"
Hearing this, Aki, who had originally wanted to shake him off and leave, was stunned for a moment, then grabbed Yahiko's arm and scolded, "You little bastard, why didn't you tell me such an important thing earlier! Hurry up!"
After saying that, before Yahiko could react, he was grabbed by the arm and flew into the air.
————————
At this time, in the conference room of the administrative building.
"Lord Kumokawa, if this trend continues, the defeat of the Land of Wind is inevitable."
Kumokawa, who was sitting in the first seat, lowered his head and looked through the documents in his hand. Tsuyu, who has now become the head of the Military Intelligence Department, stood respectfully behind him.
The Military Intelligence Department is an intelligence agency responsible for conducting external intelligence collection, analysis and transmission. Its work covers war preparation, battlefield situation awareness, enemy reconnaissance and other aspects. Its main purpose is to provide timely and accurate intelligence support to the Army to ensure the smooth progress of future military operations.
"What an ugly gesture."
Looking at the statement in his hand about the Sunagakure Village condemning Hanzo and the Amegakure Village and refusing to admit defeat, Kumokawa laughed contemptuously.
He tapped the conference table with his fingers and said in a bored tone, "Tsuyu, what do you think is the right thing to do as one of the five major ninja villages in the ninja world when a scumbag country kicks us in the ass?"
Hearing this analogy, Tsuyu was stunned for a moment, then pondered for a moment and said, "The correct approach should be to destroy the scum country that offends your dignity, right?"
"Yes, he should admit that he was indeed offended, and then just kill the scum who offended him. In this way, no one will laugh at him for getting his ass kicked by the scum. But that's not how the Sunagakure Village works."
Kumokawa smiled and said sarcastically, "They refused to admit the fact that they were kicked by the scumbag, and then in public, they stuck their butts out and shouted to let everyone see whether they were kicked or not."
Ridiculous, so ridiculous.
Tsuyu's eyes also showed a hint of smile, and he whispered: "This further proves that the Sunagakure Village is now at the end of its strength."
However, Kumokawa gave an opposite opinion to Tsuyu's words.
"No, it won't end that easily."
He put down the documents in his hand, supported his cheek with one hand and smiled: "The Land of Rain is a small country. The Land of Rain declared war on The Land of Wind. This is the first arrow shot by the small country at the big country. Whether this arrow can make the big country bleed is very important."
"Although the five major powers are either at war or preparing for war, they are still the 'five major powers' after all, birds of a feather, in collusion with each other and of the same ilk."
“War is the continuation of politics, a tool of politics, bloody politics, a violent struggle between classes, and the highest form of struggle of social contradictions. Politics determines the purpose, motivation, scale, and strategic plan of war.”
"In essence, it's all about scrambling and plundering. Everyone wants to have a piece of the pie, and everyone wants to be the strongest and richest. But the problem is that there are only so many resources. If someone eats it, someone else has to spit it out."
"The five great nations don't even have enough to share this cake. Do you think they will allow a small country like the Land of Rain to sit on an equal footing with them and share the cake?"
Without waiting for Tsuyu to answer, Kumokawa shook his head and said calmly: "No, they won't allow it."
"Once the Land of Wind is defeated by the Land of Rain, which is a small country, it will expose the fact that big countries can also bleed. Those small countries that have been oppressed by big countries for a long time will gather around the Land of Rain and form an alliance to fight against the five big countries together."
"This is also the reason why Sunagakure continues to pretend that it doesn't hurt at all even though they have been stabbed in the heart by Hanzo and the Amegakure Village."
Hearing this, Tsuyu gradually frowned and said in a deep voice: "You mean, Konoha, which is now fighting against Sunagakure with Amegakure, is about to turn against Amegakure next to it?"
If Konoha really does this, isn't it afraid of becoming the target of public criticism and completely losing its own credibility?
"What is there to be afraid of?"
Kumokawa saw what Tsuyu was thinking and couldn't help but laugh: "Ever since the Sky Legion disclosed the truth about the destruction of the Land of Whirlpool, Konoha has completely lost its credibility."
"It's only during the war now, so it's not too obvious yet. When the war is over, Konoha's share of missions will definitely be reduced by half. If they can win beautifully this time, perhaps they can make up for it a little."
According to the information from Konoha, Jiraiya and Tsunade have already left the village, and Kumokawa guessed that Sarutobi Hiruzen had realized this.
So he planned to win a beautiful victory, let those "financial sponsors" see the strength of Konoha, and try to win the trust of more "financial sponsors".
Unfortunately, Kumokawa had prepared for so long, bleeding Konoha, the big tree that was the leader of the five major ninja villages, bit by bit, causing Sarutobi Hiruzen to gradually be deserted by his friends and relatives, and causing Konoha to become disunited, all in order to hollow out this big tree and cut it down in one fell swoop in the future.
Now that we can see obvious results, we will naturally not let that old monkey get his wish.
Knock knock!
Just as Tsuyu was frowning and pondering, and the conference room fell into a brief silence, someone knocked on the door of the conference room.
Tsuyu came back to his senses and was about to sit back in his seat, but he saw Kumokawa waving his hand and casually said, "Come in."
As soon as he finished speaking, the door of the conference room opened, and the security members who were originally guarding outside, wearing white robes, walked into the conference room.
"I'm sorry to bother you, Lord Kumokawa," he said respectfully, "There's an old man outside who said he hopes to see you or Minister Aki, and he won't leave no matter how much I persuade him."
Kumokawa raised his eyebrows, probably knowing the purpose of the visitor, and said with a smile: "Then let the person in. It's cold at night, don't let the old man wait outside for too long."
"Yes."
The security member saluted and left. When he came back, there was a short figure behind him.
He was an old man wearing a linen robe, hunched over and looking a little timid, carrying a large basket on his back.
The old man's feet were still covered in mud, and when he stepped on the smooth floor of the conference room, he left several conspicuous muddy footprints, which made him subconsciously retract his feet.
But after looking up and seeing Kumokawa, his face showed obvious excitement, and he said respectfully: "Greetings to Lord Kumokawa and... this Lord."
Tsuyu was actually about the same age as the old man, but looked much tougher. He had been a commoner before, so he felt a little awkward being addressed like that, so he quickly walked over and helped him up.
"Don't be so reserved, old man." Kumokawa asked kindly with a smile on his face, "What can I do for you?"
Tsuyu took a chair from the side and walked over to the old man. The old man subconsciously and panickedly refused the chair, but was finally half-pushed down by Tsuyu.
Normally, outsiders were not allowed to enter the conference room, and there was a fixed number of chairs. However, Tsuyu knew that since Lord Kumokawa had allowed the old man in, there was no need to put on airs.
After hearing Kumokawa's words, although the old man who was sitting carefully on the chair seemed a little disappointed because he didn't see Aki, he still stood up, put the backpack behind him on the ground, and lifted the clean white cover.
"Lord Kumokawa, thank you for helping our village get rid of the bandits, and for helping us to reclaim wasteland and teach us farming techniques. We don't have any good gifts to thank you, but this is the first batch of fruits from the greenhouse, please accept them."
After hearing what he said, Kumokawa glanced at the large basket of fruits. They looked very appetizing and one could tell at a glance that they were top-quality, pollution-free green products. It also reminded him of the old man's identity.
During this period, the City of Dawn expanded its sphere of influence in all directions, bringing the surrounding villages and settlements under the City of Dawn's jurisdiction, and also cleared out a group of bandits who were abusing their power.
Those bandits were either guys who gathered a group of people to "rule the mountain", or they were Chunin and Genin who fled from the Sunagakure Village or the Amegakure Village because they were afraid of fighting. In the five major countries, they would be considered "consumables".
This old man should be one of the prestigious leaders in the village designated as an "experimental field".
During this period, too many villages were brought under the jurisdiction of the City of Dawn, and Kumokawa couldn't remember which village he was from.
"That's fine. We can let Aki and the others have a taste during the meeting later."
It was not the first time that Kumokawa had received a gift, and he did not refuse the old man's kindness. He motioned Tsuyu to take the fruit from the old man, and said in a gentle tone, "Then I thank you on their behalf."
The old man left happily after his kindness was accepted. Kumokawa took a bite of the fruit, then turned his head to look at the silent Tsuyu and asked with a smile, "Why, do you have any ideas?"
"I always feel a little... unworthy of it?" Tsuyu sighed, "After all, to us, these fruits are not important, but to them, they must have been grown with great difficulty."
"After all, it's a token of their love, and what they want is peace of mind. Only if we eat the things they send, will they believe that we will protect them. If wr don't accept them, it will make them worry too much."
Kumokawa looked as if he had a clear conscience, and spoke vaguely while biting the fruit.
It’s true, these fruits grown by Aki taste really good. I’ve never eaten them before, and it’s nice to satisfy my appetite occasionally.
Knock, knock, knock.
Kumokawa, who had been sitting lazily at the first seat with puffed cheeks, sat up straight and said with a smile, "Come in."
Click.
As several figures walked into the conference room, the quiet meeting room was filled with a serious atmosphere.
"It looks like everyone is here."
Kumokawa's eyes swept over the faces of those figures, and a smile appeared on his face. He said, "In this case, let's officially start the first high-level meeting of the City of Dawn."
