In the jungle surrounding Kagero Village, the shadows were blurry and unreal.
"Lord Yahiko, wake up, those Takigakure guys are moving strangely again." A "demon" with perception ability whispered.
"Hmm? Oh, it's happening again? hoohaah~"
Yahiko responded dazedly, opened his eyes in a daze, and yawned tiredly.
He has now mastered the "Total Concentration Breathing" and can continue to concentrate on his breathing even when he falls asleep.
But he is too young and his body is not fully developed. After persisting for a whole day, he still feels very tired. He can only take a short rest to recover when the opponent slows down his offensive.
"Eh? That's not right."
Yahiko seemed to suddenly remember something, turned his head to look at the "demon" beside him, and said in a troubled and helpless tone: "Asa-nii, I've told you so many times, just call me Yahiko, calling me 'Lord' or something like that feels so awkward."
"Don't embarrass me, Lord Yahiko."
The "demon" called "Asa" quickly shook his head and explained, "You can call me whatever you want in private, but Lord Nagato said that we must follow the rules at this time, and everyone should be in their proper place."
It’s that red-haired, gloomy, expressionless kid again.
The expressionless face appeared in his mind. Yahiko looked a little depressed and complained: "It's so troublesome. Being that guy's subordinate is really difficult for you."
It's easy to tell with your toes that given that guy's personality, he must be very rigid in normal times.
Being friends with his subordinates is simply impossible for him.
No, Yahiko even doubted whether he had any friends.
However, although he always disliked the little demon, he admired those who were willing to become "demons".
Not everyone has the courage to become a "demon".
By becoming a "demon" you can gain terrifying vitality and the body can be slowly restored as long as the brain is not destroyed, at the same time one will lose the qualification to stand in the sun.
Even when going out on normal days, one needs to wear a robe that covers the entire body, otherwise one will be burned by the not-so-hot sunlight of the Land of Rain. One can only go out normally when the sky is completely covered by dark clouds or at night.
Fortunately, there are almost no sunny days in the Land of Rain.
But what Yahiko didn't know was that the self-healing ability that the "demon" now possessed was actually a weakened version.
A true "demon" can be said to be immortal. As long as it is not beheaded by the special "Nichirin Sword" or exposed to sunlight, even if its head is destroyed, it can completely heal itself within seconds.
However, there is no gain without sacrifice.
It is precisely because of the weakening of their self-healing ability that they can eat human food like normal people, and do not crave flesh and blood like real "demons", completely turning into a group of human-like species that eat humans as a way of survival.
At least in Kumokawa's opinion, this kind of change is neither good nor bad.
"Ahahaha, that's not a problem."
Hearing Yahiko's direct complaints about Nagato, Asa just laughed dryly and said seriously: "In fact, we all know that Lord Nagato is just cold on the outside but warm on the inside. There is no order without rules. He is usually very nice to us."
"You can tell that he has a cold face, but his heart is warm..."
Hearing this, Yahiko scratched his cheek and didn't know what to say.
He had too little contact with Nagato, and what impressed him most was his bad character.
However, he was also learning to put aside his prejudice. Since Asa, his subordinate, said so, he would just believe it a little for the time being.
After all, these "demons" are still that guy's subordinates, and he was just temporarily given command authority by the boss.
Although he did not like this hierarchy of superiors and inferiors, he also understood that it must exist for the time being.
"Pheww!"
Yahiko stood up by supporting himself with his thighs, exhaled mist from his mouth, and looked towards the direction of Taki Ninjas in the distance.
The wind in the middle of the night blew the branches, revealing a corner of the moon, which cast down its compassionate moonlight.
It was too dim to see clearly when he was leaning against the tree before, but now, under the shining moonlight, Yahiko's disheveled appearance was clearly visible.
Although he did not suffer any serious injuries, his arms and chest were wrapped in bandages, and his clothes and face were charred black, all caused by the flames from the explosion of the explosive tag.
The wounds on his body were caused by the black-haired Taki ninja when he was covering the evacuation.
After all, that guy is an elite among the jonin of Takigakure. Maybe he is not as good as those elite jōnin in Konoha, but he is much stronger than most jonin.
He attacked with all his might in a rage and without restraint, which was difficult for him to deal with with his current strength.
Of course, that guy who ran directly into the minefield was also badly blown up. If it weren't for the blue-haired Taki Ninja who reacted in time to rescue him, he might have died in the explosive tag traps around him.
"Ugh, what a pity."
Thinking of this, Yahiko couldn't help but sigh again.
Asa looked at the sighing boy beside him, and there was a hint of gentleness in his scarlet vertical pupils.
The same goes for the "demons" around him. No matter how embarrassed Yahiko is now, he has already won their recognition.
It’s not because of how strong he is, nor how strong his command ability is.
Instead, because he dared to go to the battlefield in person with his "mortal body" to cover the evacuation of these "demons" and their companions.
As the temporary commander who made the decision to rotate the players, he was the only one who did not participate in the rotation.
During this day, no less than fifty enemies died at his hands.
It can be said that he took on the most dangerous rearguard missions, and he was able to survive every time thanks to his keen intuition.
Tactics are a commander's best control over the battlefield, but Yahiko is still very young, so he only used one tactic.
Suicide attacks, death fights, with them.
"It seems that those people from Takigakure are determined to fight to the death."
Yahiko took a deep breath, looked up at the moon in the night sky, and smiled: "But now this is our home court."
The reason why they never took the initiative to attack and always insisted on defending was that they could not be exposed to the sun.
Although he knew that this flaw would be discovered sooner or later, Yahiko still hoped that it would be exposed later.
After all, once this flaw becomes known, it will be easy for the enemy to target it in the future.
"Go get everyone ready for battle. Those guys from Takigakure will push forward regardless of the losses."
Yahiko turned his head to look at the tall and burly figure behind him and said with a smile: "Uncle Yoru, I'll trouble you to give them a surprise when the time comes."
"..." Yoru scratched his head, the "Upper Rank" and "Six" engraved in his eyes glowing, and he replied in a low voice, "Okay."
————————
Just as Yahiko and the others expected.
When night fell, the Takigakure troops led by the black-haired Taki-nin attacked.
Furthermore, in order to minimize the damage caused by the explosive traps in Kagero Village, they attacked in groups of three.
Even Yahiko didn't have any good countermeasures. After all, this could be said to be using human lives to explore the way forward. Whether or not they could survive and how many they could survive depended entirely on luck.
Almost at the same time, several teams from Takigakure Village encountered the same number of enemies, and like them, they were all configured with three people in a team.
But the difference is that there is a "demon" on the side of Kagero Village, plus two ninjas from Kagero Village.
Bang!
After encountering the Takigakure ninja team, two Kagero ninjas did not hesitate to stick explosive tags on the "demon's" arms, and stepped back at the same time and shouted: "Quick! It's done! Go and deliver it!"
Under the gazes of the Takigakure ninjas, which were either terrified, angry, or desperate, they watched helplessly as the demons rushed towards them in an instant, with the explosive tags on their arms igniting and emitting green smoke.
Boom! Boom!!
A series of explosions suddenly rang out in various parts of the jungle, along with wailing, cursing, screaming and sounds of fighting.
Under the pale moonlight, above the two Takigakure ninjas, a nimble and flexible figure pounced down with a fierce murderous intent!
Yahiko hid the sound of his falling in the violent sound waves of the explosion, knelt down on his knees and sat on the shoulders of the Takigakure ninja who was momentarily unconscious due to the explosion. When the other party came to his senses, his face showed astonishment and fear.
"How dare you be distracted in a place like this?" Yahiko sneered and exerted force with his legs.
Crack!
After the terrifying sound of bone cracking, he dodged the kunai swung by another Takigakure ninja with a backflip, and kicked the limp body into his arms!
"Water Style: Water Fang Bullet!"
An angry voice sounded, and a spiral stream of water with a terrifying impact force shot towards Yahiko, who was still in the air with nowhere to get support, like a cannonball.
BANG!!
The water cannon exploded less than half a meter in front of him, and it looked like a blue and white flower blooming. The water vapor floated and spread like smoke and fog and fell down.
At the same time, the Takigakure ninja who was holding the body of his companion in his arms, half of his body exploded into a bloody mist along with the body.
Yahiko landed lightly and steadily, patted the burly figure in front of him, and said with a smile: "Thanks, Uncle Yoru."
Phew.
"Yoru" slowly pulled back its bloody arm from the two pierced corpses, tore off its torn black robe and exposed its extremely burly body to the night.
The moonlight shone on Yahiko's face, with blood foam from the corpse still on his cheek. He turned his head to look at the angry black-haired Taki Ninja and the indifferent blue-haired Taki Ninja in the distance.
"Oh." Yahiko couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and laughed, "You smelled the scent and chased after me so quickly."
But surprisingly, the black-haired Taki-nin and the blue-haired Taki-nin ignored his trash talk.
After looking at each other, the two men reached into their ninja tool bag and took out a tube of blue unknown liquid. They stared at Yahiko and Yoru, who was standing in front of them and remained silent, with fearless eyes.
Immediately, they drank the tube of blue unknown liquid without hesitation.
"What?"
The unexpected behavior made Yahiko frown. He squinted at the glass container that was thrown to the ground by the two men, and the first thing he thought of was something like medicine.
But then, the strange changes in the blue-haired Taki Ninja and the black-haired Taki Ninja instantly overturned his guess and made his face change.
Boom! Boom!
The liquid, which was far more dangerous and several times more effective than the Akimichi clan's secret medicine "Three Color Pills", melted into their bodies in one breath, making the two feel as if a fire was ignited in their bodies, burning fiercely in every corner.
The next moment, an extremely terrifying chakra aura burst out from the bodies of the two people, turning into an almost visible light blue mist surrounding their bodies. The fierce wind and waves motioned wildly around them, their outer clothes were lifted up and shook, and the ground beneath their feet collapsed into two circular pits with the two people as the center.
All the surrounding trees were cleared away, revealing a huge vacuum area.
Seeing this scene, Yahiko instantly realized what they had drunk.
——Hero Water!
This unexpected change gave Yahiko a headache for a while.
He originally planned to tie up the blue-haired Taki Ninja over there, and then Uncle Yoru would take care of the stronger black-haired Taki Ninja.
But he didn’t expect that these two people actually had the "Hero Water" with them, and he didn’t expect that they had the courage and determination to drink it directly.
The entire Takigakure Village is built around a giant tree. It is said that the giant tree will produce "Hero water", but only one bottle of water can be accumulated every hundred years.
After drinking the "Hero's Water", you can instantly have ten times your original chakra!
It can be said that the power of most ninjutsu, especially the power of water ninjutsu, is determined by the chakra consumed.
Ten times the chakra can increase the power and range of their ninjutsu by at least ten times, gaining a powerful strength that surpasses elite jōnin.
The price of gaining this power is to burn the user's life.
In other words, when the two drank the so-called "Hero Water", their lives had already begun the death count down.
"So that's how it is. You two are together. Although it's a little unexpected, but..."
Looking at the two figures in the distance, who were clearly on the road to certain death, the blue-haired Taki-nin spoke in an unusually calm tone, as if stating a fact, and said calmly: "Little brat, and that big guy, you will die today."
The thoughts in his mind were interrupted by him, but Yahiko smiled, his eyes gradually became warmer and he said: "Why think so much, just take a look, then decide who will die here today!"
BANG!!
As soon as he finished speaking, an explosion sounded far louder than that of other battlefields, and the ground in the surrounding area was shaking.
Five hundred meters away, Kakuzu casually smashed his fist into the head of a Takigakure ninja, piercing through the back of the head and splashing out red and white substances.
"Humph, meaningless garbage. This damn thing is now called 'Hero Water'?"
Looking down at the glass container on the ground that had been completely drained of liquid, Kakuzu snorted and said with some disdain, "You are a bunch of pigs that can't beat humans. If you add more water to your weight, you will only become a bunch of heavier water-injected pigs. Apart from being given the nice-sounding title of 'heroes', your death has no value at all."
A pig is a pig and a bear is a bear. They can never become heroes.
While thinking, as if receiving some information, Kakuzu suddenly raised his head to look at the black shadow above his head, then looked in the distance and whispered: "Is it there? It seems that that stupid bird is still useful."
As soon as he finished speaking, his figure disappeared in an instant and headed towards Yahiko and the other three.
