The center of the forest was full of potholes, and the ground looked like ravaged and crumpled paper.
Blood flowed along the gullies on the ground from the twisted limbs, broken arms and rotting flesh, presenting a strange and eerie tone in the forest with twisted tree roots and fallen leaves.
“Ahem!”
The blue-haired Taki ninja, who was receiving emergency treatment for his injuries, woke up, lay on his back on the ground and spit out a mouthful of sticky and dirty blood.
"Captain, you finally woke up!"
"Quick! Change people, I'm running out of chakra!"
A noisy "buzzing" sound came from his ears, and the warm current belonging to the Mystic Palm Technique flowed in his body. The blue-haired Taki Ninja opened his eyes with some pain, and his fuzzy brain gradually became clear.
"Huh!"
He suddenly widened his eyes and gasped, then pushed away the Taki-nin who was treating him, looked at the mess around him with a ferocious expression and said, "Where is that traitor Kakuzu?! Ahem! And that damn big guy!"
The surrounding Takigakure ninjas looked at each other in bewilderment. One of them lowered his head in an unwilling tone and said, "I'm sorry, those two people are very familiar with the terrain of the Land of Mountains. We chased them to the Land of Mountains but they were able to escape from us."
Hearing this, the blue-haired Taki-nin suddenly felt his vision go dark and he forced himself to swallow the blood that was rising up his throat.
They had lost so many people during the pursuit and were about to catch the damn traitor, but they were intercepted by a guy who appeared out of nowhere.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!
I'm afraid it will be hard to encounter such an opportunity again in the future!
"Captain, what should we do next?"
The other Takigakure ninjas were obviously unwilling to have their spoils snatched away in front of them.
"Nonsense!" The blue-haired Taki-nin's pretty face was distorted, and he shouted, "Of course we are chasing..."
Boom!!
Before he could finish his words, there was a sudden explosion in the distance.
A loud noise came from far away and then got closer, causing the ground to tremble. The bushes were buzzing and their leaves were scattered, and ripples were forming in the pool of blood.
At the moment of the explosion and the shaking, all the Takigakure people, who were shouting for revenge, jumped onto the nearest tree, then cowered and looked down at the tree, as neatly as a group of frightened monkeys.
But when they looked down from the tree as if they were facing a great enemy, they only saw their captain with a pale face.
After confirming again and again that no monsters fell from the sky, the Takigakure ninjas, who were covered in cold sweat, finally breathed a sigh of relief.
There's nothing I can do.
The cruelty and brutality of that monster left such a deep impression on them that they all developed a bit of PTSD.
"The explosion came from over there..."
Everyone looked up, the dim morning light shone on their faces, and they saw countless birds taking off.
Although it was difficult to see clearly in the distance due to the distance, the large area of black smoke was still reflected in my eyes.
There was no doubt that it was the smoke from the explosion.
"They've already started over there!"
Knowing that now was not the time to settle personal grudges, the blue-haired Taki-nin gritted his teeth, stood up and gave an order, "Leave two teams to continue searching for Kakuzu's traces, and the others will come with me to destroy Kagero Village."
"yes!"
"And..." As if he had thought of something, a hint of coldness flashed in the eyes of the blue-haired Taki-nin, "That strange monster-like big guy, his weakness must be above the neck!"
It's too obvious.
He didn't defend himself at all against the wounds on his body, and only blocked the initial kunai and explosive tag, as well as the final blow from his blade on the neck.
This is simply arrogance.
"You will pay for your arrogance!" said the blue-haired Taki Ninja with a distorted and ferocious face.
——————————
In the Land of Mountains, a thousand meters away from Kagero Village.
"Is this the minefield set up by those guys from Kagero Village?"
Looking at his men who had been blown to pieces in the distance, the black-haired Taki-nin who led the frontal assault had an extremely ugly expression. He grabbed the collar of the sensory ninja beside him and yelled, "Asshole! Didn't you say there was no trap?"
This unreliable bastard nearly got all of them killed!
"I, I didn't see it."
The Takigakure ninja in charge of sensing broke out in a cold sweat and said in panic, "I really didn't sense any explosive tags there!"
The black-haired Taki-nin turned his head to look at the place where the explosion occurred, but there was only a dense forest in front of him, and he could not see or sense any traps.
But when the two teams exploring the way ahead stepped into the woods, there was a loud "bang" and the two teams that inexplicably triggered the trap were killed on the spot.
Several ninjas who were more than ten meters away from them were knocked over by the impact. There was also an unlucky guy who avoided the shock wave but he was hit by the flying debris and howled on the ground, holding his abdomen.
To be honest, it would be better if they die.
Because of their half-dead condition, people had to be assigned to carry them at their own risk.
Unfortunately, they couldn't see where the explosive traps were.
“……”
The black-haired Taki-nin frowned, formed seals with both hands to condense water attribute chakra, and swung the water in his hands vigorously: "Water Release: Water Whip!"
The whip made of water was swung out and tied up the injured Taki ninja.
But just when I was about to pull him over.
Swish! Swish!
A sharp whistling sound suddenly came, and the black-haired Taki-nin looked up suddenly.
He saw countless kunai coming from a distance, with something wrapped around the ends.
That was... explosive tags! Nearly a thousand explosive tags!
When lit, they left trails of meteors in the sky, looking brilliant and gorgeous but also extremely deadly.
"Retreat!!"
The black-haired Taki ninja's face changed instantly and he was scared to death. He immediately formed seals with his hands and used the technique of instant body movement.
Boom! Boom!!
In the first wave, nearly a thousand kunai with explosive tags were fired, which was almost equivalent to a forbidden fire technique landing near the Takigakure ninja. Then there was the second wave, the third wave...
"Ah!!"
Loud noises, flames, smoke, broken limbs, and wailing—the main theme of death sounded at this moment.
Without perception ninjutsu, it is impossible to see the situation on the battlefield shrouded in smoke and fire. In fact, you don't need to see clearly to know that those Takigakure ninjas who are close to the minefield are basically finished.
No one can survive such a terrible blanket bombing of explosive tags.
"Damn it! Damn it! The sound of the battle with Kakuzu and that monster there really alarmed Kagero Village, causing them to be prepared in advance!!"
The black-haired Taki-nin retreated several hundred meters in time and was not affected. He gritted his teeth and looked at the thick black smoke rising in front of him and said coldly: "Even after they are seriously injured after the battle with Konoha, do they still have so many explosive tags stored?"
They had originally planned to launch a surprise attack on Kagero Village tonight when the moon was dark and the wind was strong, but a sudden loud roar in the distance disrupted their plans.
Now, I am in trouble.
Who would just scatter explosive tags as beans?
Thousands of explosive tags could have been used by a hundred-man army, but now they were thrown out by Kagero Village in one go. It was so rude and wasteful!
"If I knew who disrupted the plan, I would definitely tear his head off!"
The black-haired Taki-nin's tone was extremely resentful. He looked at the murderous jungle and said coldly: "Give me the hero water and use water release to flood all those trees! If it is a waterproof explosive tag, then use fire release and earth release!"
If there is no road, then just blast one out!
Although the distance of more than a thousand meters is a bit long, they can do it. It's just a matter of time.
And at this moment, someone in the tall house in Kagero Village obviously understood this.
"We won't be able to hold out for much longer at this rate."
Looking at the sky outside the window that was illuminated red by the fire, Hotaka frowned in annoyance.
As early as last night, he already knew that an outsider had broken in and had stepped into the surrounding minefield. He insisted on walking 500 meters carrying the trap, which can be said to have passed through half of the minefield.
So he had already prepared for the battle.
But what I didn't expect was that the ones who came were not some bounty organization or group, but those people from Takigakure.
That scene was clearly an attempt to wipe out their Kagero Village in one fell swoop, right?
They were in a small basin, and once the Takigakure ninjas crossed the minefield, they would most likely be trapped.
"Should we escape? No, even though those bastards from Takigakure can only open a path through the minefield, they can still seal off the entire Kagero Village and the minefield. If supplies don't come in, we'll be trapped here to death."
Hotaka pondered the pros and cons in his mind, and said thoughtfully: "So it is definitely not possible to escape together. We should each carry a portion of the explosive tags and escape separately. This way, some of us may survive."
"But now that I think about it, that guy from last night, with his reckless style, doesn't seem to be from Takigakure Village."
Hotaka remained extremely rational. Although he was filled with resentment, he was still able to remain calm.
But, in the next moment.
He suddenly looked towards the dark corner, concentrated his attention and shouted: "Come out!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As soon as he finished speaking, the originally subtle heartbeat could no longer be concealed, and it resounded like a drum in the shadow.
Hotaka narrowed his eyes and his heart became solemn for a moment.
But all of this disappeared in the next moment.
"Ahahaha, it seems that I haven't mastered the lesson of aura concealment yet, even though I don't like hiding anyway."
A carefree yet somewhat distressed childish voice reached his ears, and Hotaka was stunned when he saw a figure walking out of the shadows.
"Although it's a bit rude to ask for something when you just meet someone for the first time, could you please not tell anyone else about this?"
Yahiko walked out obediently with his hands raised, showing with a hearty smile that he was not a threat, and put his hands together and begged, "If the boss finds out, he will definitely punish me, so please, please."
He no longer hid and announced his existence openly.
"A little boy?"
Hotaka's narrowed eyes slightly widened, and he took a deep look at the sword behind him, and asked coldly: "Who are you?"
From Hotaka's perspective, he couldn't see any signs of the kid in front of him making any moves. His figure was reflected in those sincere brown eyes, but he felt as if a blade was pointed at his vital points.
"Thank you for not attacking me directly." Yahiko looked very harmlessly relieved, and then smiled, "We are here to help you. We have a common enemy."
"...We?" Hotaka paused and asked.
Instead of mocking the kid for overestimating his own abilities, he grasped the two words in the sentence.
"Yes, it's 'us'."
Yahiko grinned and nodded, confirming his statement.
As he finished speaking, figures appeared one after another from the dark corner he walked out of.
No, not "people".
Looking at the faces of those dark shadows, Hotaka's pupils shrank slightly.
He knew those weren't real "people".
Because their faces were pale and their exposed claws were long and slender.
Black robes shrouded their bodies, and the faint light that illuminated their pale cheeks in the shadows came from their glowing scarlet eyes.
In comparison, Yahiko, standing in front of the group of black shadows, was as gentle as a shining sun on a winter day.
——————————
Kakuzu didn't know how much time passed, but his consciousness gradually became clear.
When he woke up again, he heard some noise and someone was walking around him.
Although he regained consciousness, he was unable to open his eyes.
Only vague sounds could be heard, as if there was some barrier between them.
"What a miraculous creation this is!"
"It looks like a parasitic bug?"
"No, no, it's more like a symbiotic relationship."
"Lord Kumokawa's blood looks even more magical."
Hearing a curious exclamation, Kakuzu finally opened his eyes.
He saw strange black threads in front of him, beating like a living heart, and he seemed to be curled up in a "cocoon" made of black threads.
"What is this?" Realizing this, Kakuzu looked a little surprised.
As his consciousness gradually became clearer, his control over his body improved. He could feel his body, which had been dead for decades, blooming, and now being awakened to life as his heart violently contracted and expanded.
Something had changed in his body...
Kakuzu couldn't help but feel shocked and doubtful about this change.
Compared to the emotionally indifferent undead he once was, he now seems to have become more emotional.
But the question now is not this, but where he is.
Kakuzu stretched out his palm and placed it close to the "shell" made of black lines in front of him. He exerted force lightly, and a force far stronger than expected burst out within half a centimeter.
Crack! Crack!
The terrifying force that was enough to shake the ground was transmitted to the black wire. The entire black wire shell bulged as if it had been hit hard, and cracks instantly covered every place within sight.
With a crisp sound, the black shell finally broke.
It was just a simple movement, but it caused countless tiny noises to sound, which were the black threads that had pierced dozens of places on his body being pulled out.
But nothing came out of the wound. Only black threads could be seen coming out of the tip. The huge wound healed almost instantly.
"This feeling..." All of this made Kakuzu, who was looking down at his body in a daze, look shocked.
"You seem to be feeling pretty good, Mr. Kakuzu."
That familiar gentle voice came from the side, Kakuzu looked up and saw those deep blue pupils.
But in the reflection of the mirror-clear eyes, his eyes were no longer lifeless dark green, but lively light green vertical pupils.
“……”
Kakuzu was silent for a moment, then he exhaled slowly and said in a hoarse voice, "I was actually saved by a little brat like you, and you also..."
He was no stranger to this feeling of change.
——Vitality, a “vitality” that is far stronger than the heart.
Kakuzu doesn't know how he did it, but doesn't that mean he owes more?
It's really troublesome.
