🕑 Added 2024-09-06 12:04:00 +0000 UTCChapter 155: Development of explosive tags
In the Land of mountains, in an empty pit with a charred ground.
People carried wood in the dark and hammers clanged as they built houses.
"Cough, cough! Cough!"
A young man wearing a Kagero village forehead protector choked on a mouthful of dust, put down his hammer, scratched his limp blond hair, and sighed, "Sigh, I finally become a ninja but why do I still have to do carpentry work here like before."
Before, when Kagerō and Konohagakure Village were fighting each other and the situation was tense, he had not yet become a ninja. Now that he has finally passed the exam, they signed a ceasefire agreement.
"Humph." As if he had thought of something, the blond boy said angrily, "It's all because Konoha is so despicable."
Konoha took advantage of the absence of the main force of Kagerō Village and launched a surprise attack on them led by Jiraiya, which laid the foundation for Konoha's victory.
"Just work hard, little Gengo, and stop talking nonsense."
A head popped out of the wooden house, and the middle-aged man teased, "Mr. Gennō spoiled you too much. After all, he is one of the few Trap Masters in the village, but you, his son, haven't even learned half of his father's skills."
Hearing this, Gengo also thought of his father who was still on a mission outside and knew nothing about Kagero's current situation. He couldn't help but fall silent.
In the third month after being attacked by Konoha, Kagero Village was forced to sign a ceasefire agreement with Konohagakure Village. This was originally just a delaying tactic. Kagero Village had planned to launch a counterattack before the ceasefire.
The core of this counterattack plan is Gennō, a Trap Master.
He was sent to infiltrate Konoha and bury explosive tags in Konoha. When he received the signal from Kagero Village, he would detonate the explosive tags. The main force of Kagero Village would then attack Konoha.
Now, two and a half months have passed since Gennō sneaked into Konoha.
Based on Gengo's understanding of his father, he was afraid that the other party had already completed the mission and was just waiting for the main force to attack Konoha in one fell swoop.
However, the leader of Kagero Village who advocated fighting to the end died unexpectedly and inexplicably not long ago.
He was so angry that he died.
To be precise, he was already sick with anger because of the sudden attack by Konoha and the severe damage to the village, and then his wife and children were dismembered by Takigakure. As a result, he spat out a mouthful of blood and died of anger.
However, the person who succeeded to the position of leader of Kagero Village decided to actually sign a ceasefire agreement with Konoha, and never assigned any more tasks to Gennō.
"What on earth is Lord Hotaka thinking?" Gengo murmured in a low voice with a confused expression.
He has loved playing treasure hunting games with his father since he was a child. He has always believed that life is to be explored, rather than following the routine of getting married, having children, and then going to the grave.
He is an adventurous person at heart, but now as a ninja he has to compromise and surrender when facing the enemy. This kind of future makes him feel gloomy,
and his father still hasn't come back.
We have already decided to sign a ceasefire agreement, so why haven’t we let my father come back yet?
————————
At the same time, inside the walls of the Kagero Village settlement.
This place has been completely hollowed out and hidden hundreds of meters deep in the mountains.
A young man in brown clothes walked in and went straight into the deepest part of the mountain.
The man had just stepped out of the passage, but before he could breathe in the fresh filtered air, two people walked towards him.
"I was wondering who it was. Isn't this the leader?"
The middle-aged man, wearing an explosion-proof suit, greeted calmly, "How come you have time to come to such a dark place like ours today?"
Although his tone was calm, one could hear a hint of joking in it.
"Hey, be polite to Lord Hotaka."
Before the young man called "Hotaka" could say anything, another relatively short old man kindly dissuaded him, then held Hotaka's hands with both hands and shook them, saying: "Welcome to the inspection, Lord Hotaka!"
Hotaka was caught off guard and choked on the words that were about to come out of his mouth. He suddenly felt a little surprised.
This kind of enthusiasm is no different from that of a woman soliciting customers on the street in a red-light district, but these hot-tempered researchers have always looked down on him as a dove. Why is there such an enthusiastic atmosphere and attitude right from the start today?
"Master Reyū, you are so polite."
Unable to figure it out, Hotaka could only smile bitterly and shook his head, and explained in a gentle voice: "I just heard that your research has made new progress, so I suddenly had the urge to come and take a look."
"Excuse me, is this convenient? If not, I..."
Although he has never been to the research base before, he grew up in Kagero Village. After being influenced by various rumors, he naturally knows how dangerous this place is.
At least judging from the explosions that roared throughout the village several times at night, as well as the slight tremors that occurred from time to time.
However, as he was forced to become the leader, he had to come and take a look at the research base.
"Of course! Of course it's convenient!"
Reyū blinked his eyes and pulled him with a smile: "Come, come, come! This way, please!"
Hotaka was almost half pulled, half dragged by him to a door before he stopped.
"Lord Hotaka, please come in."
Reyū opened the door for him, smiled sideways and said, "It may be a little cold, please don't mind."
Hotaka shook his head and walked in, and saw that the white room was empty and there was no complicated equipment.
There was only a compartment with double-sided glass. Several men wearing explosion-proof suits and goggles were frowning at the things inside through the glass.
"We have developed a more efficient method for making explosive tags, shortening the long process of making to a few hours."
Reyū came to his side and started to tell him, but was met with a long silence. He looked at the space on the other side through the double-sided glass and saw a blank special tag paper placed on the stone platform.
Quick, what's the use?
No matter how fast you make it, it's useless.
It will still only be controlled by big countries.
A speck of dust from a big country's battlefield, when it falls on a small country's head, is like a mountain...
"Do you want to take a look at the test?" Reyū asked suddenly.
Hotaka took a deep breath, suppressed his resentment, and tilted his head slightly to ask, "Do I need to wear an explosion-proof suit?"
"Don't worry, this test is safe."
Reyū patted his shoulder straightforwardly, then looked at the people next to him and waved his hand: "Let's start the first test."
First test?
Upon hearing this, Hotaka was stunned for a moment.
The researchers at the side had already grasped the metal that conducted chakra, and black lines gradually appeared on the special tag paper.
Feeling more and more that something was wrong, Hotaka looked around the room and found that the walls, ceiling and floor were all pure white metal plates, which should have first-class hardness and pressure resistance.
Turning his head to look at the glass again, an inexplicable thought flashed through his mind.
Could this double-sided glass be explosion-proof?
The next moment the thought came to his mind, the explosive tags placed on the stone platform suddenly emitted a faint red light.
Beep, beep, beep!
The dashboard also flashed red and issued a piercing alarm. Hotaka noticed this abnormality at the first moment and subconsciously turned his head to look at Reyū and the others beside him.
It turned out that this group of people were very familiar with each other and lay down at the same time!
"You guys..." Hotaka's eye twitched and he was about to say something.
Boom!!
