“…”
Tsunade stood up silently, laid Mito on the bed, and whispered, "Goodnight, grandma."
Lying on the hospital bed, Mito's eyes were closed, her face was serene and peaceful, not like she had died suddenly, but rather like she had fallen asleep, or was relieved.
This old woman was born in the late Sengoku Era when there were many ninja clans and endless wars. She witnessed with her own eyes the founding of Konoha by Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha, and she happily married into Konoha from the Land of Whirlpools and became the wife of the God of Shinobi.
But what she waited for was not the honor and treatment of a Hokage's wife, but witnessing the breakup between him and his best friend after they each went to extremes, and becoming the first Nine-Tails Jinchuriki as the wife of the first Hokage.
After her husband passed away in depression right in front of her eyes, she had been carrying the hatred of the Nine-Tailed Fox all by herself until now, and had not been able to return to the Land of Whirlpools even for a single look in decades.
Even though the "Yin Seal" can keep her appearance the same as the day she married into Konoha, the familiar faces that died one after another around her reminded her all the time that everything that was gone would never come back.
The only person she owed, the only one she felt sorry for, was the Uzumaki clan.
But she is worthy of Hashirama, and even more so, worthy of Konoha.
She is worthy of her identity as the wife of the first Hokage, and even more worthy of her identity as the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki.
Even so, there are still people who are dissatisfied with it.
"Tsunade, even if Mito wanted to do something crazy, you should have reported it to me instead of letting her do whatever she wanted..."
Before Sarutobi Hiruzen could finish his words, a sharp scream suddenly sounded.
Swish!
He retracted his foot after taking a step forward and turned his head away almost subconsciously.
In his shrinking pupils, the gravel flew past the tip of his nose, leaving a trail of blood before disappearing into the distant horizon!
This time, his dodge was almost instinctive, and he avoided the sudden attack due to his physical reaction and nerve reflex.
"Tsunade! You…"
Sarutobi Hiruzen couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat. He turned his head to look at Tsunade in shock and anger, but the words that came to his lips were suddenly choked.
In the shaky ward, the usual carelessness in Tsunade's eyes had disappeared, replaced by a coldness surging from the depths of her vertical pupils!
Scarlet chakra gushed out of her body, spreading rapidly throughout her body like liquid, turning into a translucent scarlet coat, and a red tail formed behind her.
Then came the second and third...
"I just became the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, it's normal that I can't control my power." She murmured to herself.
As she spoke, the chakra in her body began to flow like water, and the two tails behind her actually condensed into two pairs of palms.
Before Sarutobi Hiruzen could recover from his shock, Tsunade stomped her foot on the ground with an expressionless face.
BANG!!
The floor of the hospital beneath their feet collapsed instantly, and everyone, including Jiraiya and the Anbu, fell down along with the crumbling ground.
But Sarutobi Hiruzen's face suddenly twitched, and scarlet was reflected in his somewhat turbid pupils.
"You call this being unable to control your power?"
He saw that the two chakra palms behind Tsunade expanded to two or three meters wide. She clenched her ten fingers into fists, and the incomparable power gathered in the clenched fists and hit him heavily.
-------------------
At the same time, in the central area of Konoha.
After the invasion of the Land of the Sky and the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki's runaway rampage, the streets centered around the Hokage Building have basically become a desolate ruin.
Trees fell down, countless buildings collapsed, tiles and bricks were scattered all over the streets, and the charred remains of the houses that had been extinguished showed how fierce the fire had been.
Even after so much time has passed, there is still a large part that has not been rebuilt.
In other words, the most important thing is to rescue those buried in the rubble.
Click! Click!
"..."
Looking at another unrecognizable male corpse that he dug out from behind the rubble and wood, and the woman who suddenly broke down and knelt on the ground and cried without caring about her image.
Might Dai, who was able to offer comfort and jokes, fell into silence for a long time.
If I remember correctly, this woman is a medical ninja working in Konoha Hospital.
Being a ninja is a high-risk profession. Killing others and being killed by others is common. As a medical ninja, she has seen too many separations and deaths, so she usually does not show such a weak side.
However, there were too many people crying, and there were also many crying ninjas.
Civilians who came out of the shelters one after another stood on the roadside, either numb, angry or afraid, looking at their homes which had long since turned into ruins.
In the face of life and death, they are all "human beings".
"Sigh, the flame of my youth is like a candle in the wind."
Even the optimistic Might Dai couldn't help but sigh when he saw this scene, and reached out to wipe away the tears from the corners of his eyes.
However, thinking of the Sky Ninjas that brought death to Konoha, he lowered his head, clenched his fists and said in a deep voice: "The truly important things, whether it is pain or death..."
"Next time, no matter what, I must fight to the end. Even if I lose my life, I must protect it to the end! This way, even if I die, there will always be evidence that I lived!"
This time, as a Genin, he was sent to evacuate the crowd when the attack began. Next time, he must stand in front of everyone like the Third Hokage!
However, Genin does not have this qualification.
"I really have to find a way to become a Chunin." Might Guy, who had failed the exam more than a dozen times, scratched his head in distress.
Unable to think of a solution for the moment, he simply shook his head and stopped thinking about it for the time being. He walked towards the woman kneeling in front of the corpse and tried to comfort her in a clumsy and funny way.
-------------------
On the outskirts of Konoha, tents are clustered together to form a temporary camp for the homeless villagers to rest.
Many ninjas could be seen running back and forth everywhere, and there were long queues, either for the delivery of meals or for physical examinations. Other villagers who had nothing to do gathered in groups of three or five to chat.
"Really? I have already proposed to the Third Hokage-sama and elders to demolish those old buildings with potential hazards and rebuild them. If they had listened to me, there wouldn't be so many people without homes to return to." An old man dressed as a worker complained.
After this disaster, more than two-thirds of the buildings were under repair. After all, under such terrifying aerial firepower, even buildings with solid foundations would become dangerous buildings.
For example, the Hokage statue in the square of the Ninja School, the Third Hokage, who is the principal, often gives speeches below it. Another example is the Hokage Rock, which is the spiritual symbol of Konoha, was blown away by the explosion of the Tailed Beast Bomb.
The area near the Ninja School is the worst hit among the worst hit areas and is the most difficult to rebuild now.
The construction team that the old man worked for took just one look at it, gave up decisively and made an evaluation: the time it takes to repair it is enough to rebuild two identical buildings.
This place, which was used by Sarutobi Hiruzen for ceremonies and performances in previous years, has been completely abandoned.
But after careful consideration, they decided to rebuild it instead of tearing it down. However, in this case, the start of school for students at the Ninja School will probably be further delayed.
"You all saw that demon fox, right?" Another person gritted his teeth. "If you ask me, that demon fox is scarier than those flying ninjas."
"Don't mention it. I heard that thing was transformed from a human."
“Is this true?”
"I heard it was a sealed monster."
Ever since Mito, the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki, lost control and ran wild, the news spread and evolved into several versions.
"Okay, it's a blessing to be alive."
The other person shook his head and said in a fearful tone: "You don't know how scary that thing is. At that time, I saw something coming out of the fox's mouth, and it was only a few meters away from me."
"The person standing in front of me was blown to dust. I almost peed my pants because of the shock."
At this point, he seemed to have thought of something, looked at the absent-minded middle-aged man beside him, and said, "Hey, Mr. Gennō, I remember you were there at the time, right? Did you see it?"
“…Ah? Oh.”
The middle-aged man called "Gennō" came to his senses, looked very honest and introverted, shook his head and replied: "I didn't see it, I was doing carpentry work at home at the time."
Hearing this, the crowd who were originally expecting something suddenly felt bored, and turned back to chat again with a common hatred for the enemy.
"I still have some work to do, so I'll take my leave first?" Gennō offered to take his leave when everyone was chatting enthusiastically. When he saw them, he just waved his hand and walked out.
After walking out of the temporary camp, the slight restraint in Gennō's eyes disappeared, and he was no longer introverted. He glanced around with his peripheral vision.
After making sure no one was paying attention, he slipped into an alley.
After he entered, a figure wearing an Anbu mask instantly appeared at the entrance of the alley and followed him in with great caution and alertness.
What came into view was an alley that had been affected by the explosion, a charred black alley, but no one was there.
Phew!
Before the Anbu ninja could react, Gennō holding a kunai appeared behind him and stabbed him straight through the chest without mercy.
The sharp blade pierced his ribs and crushed his heart.
After the severe pain, the limbs become cold.
"You've been watching me for a long time." Gennō's cold voice reached his ears, "That Sky Legion really helped me a lot. Since so many people have died, the death of another Anbu should not be discovered by others, right?"
You, who are you?
The Anbu ninja opened his mouth slightly, but could not say anything, and his blurred vision turned completely gray.
After making sure that he was dead, Gennō took out an explosive tag from his arms and stuck it on the head of the corpse.
He then pasted one on each wall on both sides of the alley, stepped back a few steps skillfully, and made a seal with one hand.
Bang!
The detonator that should have made an explosion sounded, but it only made a muffled sound, so low that no one would notice it. The body was blown into a pile of rotten meat, and the wall that was blown apart also collapsed downwards, completely burying the broken limbs and arms.
After dealing with the scene, Gennō put his fingers in his mouth, his cheeks puffed up slightly.
“Screech!!”
A whistle that was not loud but very sharp came out of his mouth. However, he looked at the sky and waited for a long time but nothing flew over.
On the contrary, looking at the bright sunshine, for some reason, he felt inexplicably uncomfortable all over.
It was not physical, but an indescribable psychological discomfort. The refracted light made him dizzy, and there seemed to be tinnitus in his ears, a hissing sound, a mosquito-like sound, which made him feel like vomiting.
"I'm still not used to the environment of the Land of Fire." He closed his eyes and shook his dizzy head, and finally frowned, "The village hasn't replied yet, what's going on?"
Just when he was puzzled, a burst of sound suddenly rang out!
Boom!!
Along with the sound of shattering glass, a burst of explosions filled his ears.
Almost subconsciously, his hair stood on end and he lay down without thinking. It seemed like an instinctive reaction.
This is indeed the case. In his real hometown, Kagero Village, the Land of Mountains, whenever you hear an explosion, no matter what, the right thing to do is to lie down.
Because everyone in Kagero Village was an explosion maniac who was very good at using explosive tags, and from time to time their experiments would fail, causing some dangerous explosions!
But the next moment he realized that this was no longer Kagero Village, but Konoha, his target of infiltration.
His purpose this time was to go undercover in Konoha, which was hostile to the Kagero Village.
The purpose is to use secret methods to bury millions of explosive tags in key facilities throughout Konoha, such as the Hokage Building, Hokage Rock, hospitals, and schools.
Once such a large number of explosive tags explode, their power will be enough to turn the entire Konoha into ruins.
Their plan was to have Gennō detonate these explosive tags while the main force of the ninja village attacked Konoha, thereby completely destroying Konoha with internal and external cooperation.
Although Gennō was somewhat caught off guard and unprepared by the sudden appearance of the Sky Legion, it should be beneficial to their plan.
However, ever since he sneaked into Konoha, the messages he sent to the village have fallen on deaf ears, and the village has never responded to him.
"What on earth is going on?"
Gennō frowned and looked up. After the sound of glass breaking, a black shadow happened to fly over his head quickly, blocking the sunlight for a moment, and then fell to the ground not far away, making another roar!
Bang!
The sound of the shadow hitting the ground when it landed was huge and astonishing. The cracks on the ground appeared at a speed that was difficult to observe with the naked eye, covering an irregular circular surface with a diameter of tens of meters. The ground in the center where the shadow fell was shattered into powder.
"Cough cough! Damn it!" Accompanied by a cough and curse, a figure stood up from the pit.
He stared in amazement at the hole caused by the landing in the distance. After seeing the face of the black shadow clearly, Gennō couldn't help but open his mouth wide.
It was Sarutobi Hiruzen in a tattered combat uniform!
Gennō stared at the miserable appearance of the Third Hokage, and suddenly an idea popped up in his heart.
If I remember correctly, he just led the team to Konoha Hospital, right?
Could it be that he was sent flying by someone?
What kind of monster could have sent the Third Hokage flying from the Konoha Hospital to here?
