Becoming Hokage?
After hearing what Mito said, Tsunade's pupils shrank slightly, and she spoke:"Why?"
In her eyes, only an idiot like Jiraiya would dream of becoming Hokage.
But now, Grandma Mito wants her to become Hokage.
"Because Sarutobi Hiruzen can't do anything now, because Konoha has embarked on the wrong path."
Mito closed her eyes and said with a complicated expression: "At the beginning, everyone gathered around your grandfather just because they wanted to see the ideal world he talked about, so they chose to follow him."
"He just hoped that everyone could live a peaceful and tranquil life without the uncertainty of their life, without the turmoil and fighting."
"At least the children can have a peaceful childhood, and for that, they can fight for Konoha in the cruel ninja world."
"It is because of family and companions that Konoha is what it is today."
"Even if Konoha is destroyed by the enemy, we can still build another one."
"But now, Sarutobi Hiruzen and his men have put the cart before the horse. Everything is expendable for the sake of the village, including allies, ninja clans, civilians, and children."
"For Konoha, for the village, no one is expendable. Whoever threatens the village will die."
"Like he said, leaves can burn, and people can also burn to ashes. Under the illumination of the will of fire, the big tree that uses people as nourishment will only become uglier and more hideous, and more and more frightening and terrifying."
"If we continue like this, nothing will change. Sooner or later, the great tree of Konoha will collapse under the weight."
Mito slowly opened her eyes, looked at the silent Tsunade, and whispered: "I hope that as Hashirama's granddaughter, you will stand up and bring Konoha back to the right path before the big tree of Konoha is completely overturned."
She lied.
In fact, as a bystander, she has always been very clear in her mind.
The fall of the big tree of Konoha did not start with Sarutobi Hiruzen's succession, but had gradually deviated from its original path as early as the beginning of Konoha's establishment.
The real beginning was actually Hashirama.
Therefore, Mito, as Hashirama's wife, remained silent.
But now, it was precisely because of her silence and indulgence that Sarutobi Hiruzen and his men became more and more aggressive, eventually leading to the tragedy of the Land of Whirlpool.
Recalling the nightmare of being haunted by countless wronged souls, the fear still lingered in Mito's heart, making it impossible for her to remain silent any longer.
'You are a sinner.'
'But death cannot atone for sin.'
'So you have to do something.'
The familiar yet unfamiliar gentle words seemed to still linger in Mito's ears, making her slightly dazed, but she quickly came to her senses and did not notice anything unusual.
"Tsunade, you have grown up."
Feeling Tsunade's slightly trembling body, Mito said softly: "The village is your grandfather's hard work and the meaning of his life, but Tsunade, you have to remember that the village is not something too important."
"Compared to the village, we are more precious treasures. As long as we are still here, the village will be rebuilt at any time..."
Don't ever learn from your grandfather; he's a jerk who doesn't understand human nature.
Mito didn't say the last sentence.
In her eyes, Hashirama was a man who didn't understand romance, had a bold and open personality, loved gambling, was not serious, was extremely gentle to outsiders, and was even a little too ideal for a husband.
But the dead Hashirama had already become a "symbol" in the hearts of everyone in Konoha, a "symbol" that made them proud and willing to follow in his footsteps.
Hashirama Senju was imperfect, but the first Hokage was perfect.
She couldn't personally destroy the godly image that Tsunade and the people of Konoha had made for Hashirama.
"In this Ninja World War, accumulate enough merits." Mito said in a gentle tone, "Then, let Sarutobi Hiruzen retire, take the position of Hokage, and change this village."
"Also, don't be so fierce, be gentle..."
"Grandma! I don't want it!" This will-like request made Tsunade burst into tears, "I can become the Hokage even without the Nine-Tails."
Obviously, she already understood Mito's plan.
In this ninja world, the words of the weak are nonsense.
It is difficult to become Hokage with just the "Yin Seal" and the "Katsuyu", but if you add the "Princess of Konoha" and the "Nine-Tails Jinchuriki", you can give it a try.
"Silly girl, what nonsense are you talking about." Mito just stroked Tsunade's head and smiled with relief, "I have lived long enough. So many people died in Konoha. I have to give an explanation to their families."
And the wronged souls of the Land of Whirlpool...
Fear still tormented Mito. The curses, screams and wails lingered in her ears, making her feel painful every moment.
Even the doctor who woke her up couldn't remove the fear toxin.
What's more, even if she doesn't choose "dignity" herself, Sarutobi Hiruzen will help her be "dignified".
But now, because of her previous out-of-control rampage, countless villagers have lost their loved ones and friends, and their hostility towards the Nine-Tailed Fox has reached its extreme.
Once they know who the Nine-Tails Jinchuriki is, that person will definitely bear this hatred and resentment.
Rather than letting Sarutobi Hiruzen transfer the Nine-Tails to the young Kushina, and let her bear the horrible malice at such a young age, Mito felt that it would be better to hand the Nine-Tails directly to Tsunade now.
With Tsunade's status and reputation, even if she became a Jinchūriki, she would not become a weapon controlled by Sarutobi Hiruzen.
"No, I don't want it." Tsunade just bit her lip and shook her head, "If I have to use your death to exchange for the position of Hokage, I would rather not have it."
Looking at her stubborn granddaughter, a hint of helplessness flashed in Mito's eyes.
However, she had anticipated this.
She glanced at the silent Kushina, then retracted her gaze to Tsunade and said with a smile: "What are you thinking about? Why do you think I will die? In this ninja world, the monsters that can take your grandmother's life are all lying in coffins!"
Hearing this, Tsunade was stunned for a moment, sniffed, and whispered: "Don't lie to me, grandma, if the Jinchūriki is separated from the tailed beast, you will definitely die. Even if you are from the Uzumaki clan, you will definitely die with your current physical condition."
"If I forcibly extract the Nine-Tails, I will indeed die." Mito nodded, but then changed the subject, "However, the prerequisite is that I extract the entire Nine-Tails."
Looking at Tsunade with a confused expression, Mito smiled, wiped her tears and whispered: "The Nine-Tailed Fox is very special. I have tried it and can split it into yin and yang. So, I will give you half first, and the remaining half will stay in my body, so I will not die."
"So, don't cry, grandma won't abandon you."
As soon as these words came out, Yakushi Nonō who had a very low presence at the side had her eyes flickering, and she looked at Kushina at the side with a knowing look.
I see.
Do you intend to make Tsunade the official Nine-Tails Jinchūriki, and let Kushina be the other Nine-Tails Jinchūriki?
In this way, Tsunade can indeed conceal Kushina's existence, and she doesn't have to worry about being noticed before she truly controls the Nine-Tails.
It’s really well calculated and somewhat unexpected.
