In the Hokage Building, in the office.
Sarutobi Hiruzen leaned back in his chair, his eyes lowered in silence, puffing smoke from his pipe.
The air was as heavy as a clay jar in high pressure, making people want to break the tile wall or open the mouth of the jar to escape.
"Ahem!"
The unbearable silence was broken only when Utatane Koharu couldn't help coughing.
"Hiruzen, this time..."
Mitokado Homura breathed a sigh of relief, glanced at Danzo who was stubbornly refusing to bow his head, and then looked at Sarutobi Hiruzen in front of him and advised: "This time, Danzo did go a little too far..."
"Just a little too far?"
Without waiting for Mitokado Homura to continue to excuse Danzo, Sarutobi Hiruzen interrupted expressionlessly: "The root was originally just a training department of the Anbu, and later gradually evolved into an intelligence organization."
"Anbu", the full name of which is "Assassination Tactics Special Forces", was established by the second Hokage, Senju Tobirama, and is a special force directly under the Hokage.
Each member of the Anbu is an excellent ninja selected from the village. They are mainly responsible for protecting the Hokage and preventing foreign enemies from invading Konoha. However, they are also responsible for reconnaissance and assassination during special periods.
When they are in action, they wear white masks imitating animals. The nature of the mission and all other information are kept confidential.
Under normal circumstances, there are four teams, each with 17 people, with a team leader, and four squads.
Each squad is composed of four ninjas, including a squad leader and three members.
The "Root" that Danzo is in charge of is essentially equivalent to an Anbu squad.
As the team leader, he leads four squads, a total of 17 people, which is in line with the Anbu system.
But now...
"The Root dared to hide such important information from me, the Hokage. Does that mean..."
Sarutobi Hiruzen paused, squinted his eyes and looked at Danzo, and asked: "Has it become an independent organization controlled by some people for their own profit?"
This is a question.
A question that cannot be ignored.
Such a severe questioning is almost impeachment.
And the object of his questioning is his classmate and friend Shimura Danzo.
"…What did you say?"
Upon hearing this, Danzo, who had been expressionless, looked at Sarutobi in disbelief, with veins popping out of his forehead. He said in a deep voice, "You can say I did something wrong, but you can't say I was selfish!"
"You should know that everything I did was for Konoha!"
Hearing the resounding response from his old friend, Sarutobi Hiruzen silently exhaled a puff of smoke, his face shrouded in a misty white mist, and from Danzo's perspective, he looked uncertain.
"Hiruzen, isn't that a bit too much?"
Utatane Koharu couldn't help but speak, and advised in a kind voice, "Danzo's starting point is good. After all, it's for the village. We really don't have the ability to help the Country of Whirlpool..."
"Enough." Hearing that the two were pleading for Danzo, Sarutobi Hiruzen waved his hands irritably, signaling them not to say anything more. Of course, he knew what Danzo was thinking.
The relationship between the two of them could be said to be well-known, and they knew what position to change as soon as they patted their butts.
After Senju Tobirama died due to the conspiracy of the Kumogakure Village, he was ordered to take over the position of Hokage from his teacher.
But "Hokage" is different from his fantasy when he was young. As soon as he took office, he faced the pressure of war and the ninja clans, which instantly shattered his fantasy of the position of Hokage.
Whether it was the Hyuga clan or the Uchiha clan, their initial attitude towards him was to listen to orders but not to words.
Fortunately, as a Hokage, he had great righteousness when fighting for power. In addition to the Sarutobi clan, he also had the support of the Ino-Shika-cho.
So he adopted the strategy of hitting one group and pulling another. With the assistance of Danzo, he used some special means to make the two wealthy ninja clans, Uchiha and Hyuga confront each other.
Finally, he sat firmly on the position of Hokage and held the power of Hokage in his hands.
And his original intention of agreeing to Danzo to establish the root was to deal with those dirty things that could not be seen in the light.
It cannot be handled in the name of the Anbu directly under the Hokage, so a root can only be differentiated under the Anbu.
But in this process, the root is also growing rapidly, and under the influence of Danzo, it is acting more and more darkly.
If the Root is allowed to continue to develop like this, it will completely become Danzo’s personal armed organization.
——It must be restricted.
"Orochimaru wants us to send two ANBU teams to the Country of Rain battlefield."
Sarutobi Hiruzen's eyes flickered slightly, and he looked at the three people in front of him deeply, and asked calmly: "What do you think about this?"
As soon as these words came out, Utatane Koharu and Mitokado Homura's eyes widened.
"Impossible!"
Mitokado Homura frowned and said in a serious tone: "One team has been taken to the Country of Rivers battlefield by Hatake Sakumo. If two more teams are sent, there will only be one guard team and one team left. The defense force will be too weak."
"Homura is right." Utatane Koharu nodded, "At any time, at least two teams of Anbu must be left!"
Will the defense force be too weak?
Sarutobi Hiruzen had an inexplicable expression on his face. He shook the pipe in his hand, looked at Danzo without comment and asked: "What do you think?"
Danzo narrowed his gloomy eyes slightly. After a moment of silence, he said in a low and hoarse voice: "I don't trust the Uchiha clan."
The defense force will be too weak, which is an excuse. It is simply because they are afraid of the Uchiha clan.
One team is used to guard against external threats, and the other team is used to guard against the guard team.
"The Uchiha clan is also a member of Konoha."
Sarutobi Hiruzen took a deep puff of his cigarette and warned, "They are all members of Kagami's clan. You shouldn't have such a clear prejudice against them."
Can prejudice be divided into clear or not?
"Kagami is Kagami, Uchiha is Uchiha, have you forgotten Uchiha Setsuna?"
Danzo frowned and subconsciously retorted, "The Uchiha clan is born evil. There are many members of the clan who inherit the radical ideas of Uchiha Madara. They are all potential dangers and must be guarded against at all times..."
As he spoke, he suddenly paused.
Because he actually saw Sarutobi nodding in agreement.
"In that case."
Sarutobi Hiruzen smiled and said to Danzo in a gentle tone: "You can take 'my' root to the border to help Orochimaru."
"...What?" Danzo and the other two were stunned.
"Is there a problem?" Sarutobi Hiruzen narrowed his eyes and said meaningfully, "Or do you want me to ask Tsunade to visit your roots in person?"
As soon as these words came out, Danzo's pupils shrank instantly, and a chill surged from the bottom of his heart.
What does it mean?
What does he mean?
Why did he mention Tsunade?
Danzo's expression was uncertain. Looking at his old friend, he suddenly felt a little scared.
Wood Release Experiment.
Did he know?
How much did he know?
"... Humph! Let's go!"
Danzo's mind was in a mess. He simply snorted and turned around, avoiding the eyes of Utatane Koharu.
After stepping to the door, he suddenly stopped and said unwillingly: "Remember your choice today, you will definitely regret it, Sarutobi!"
"Watch your attitude, Danzo!"
Sarutobi Hiruzen's body showed a powerful aura that could not be offended. Even Mitokado Homura felt a sense of oppression. Sarutobi Hiruzen said in a deep voice: "Remember, I am the Hokage!"
Hearing this, the blood rushed to his head instantly, and Danzo's old face was flushed with anger.
"Then just be a good Hokage!"
Bang!!
Danzo said in a low voice and left without looking back. The door was slammed by him and the loud noise made by Utatane Koharu couldn't help but tremble.
Seeing this, Mitokado Homura sighed, feeling sad that Danzo was still in Hiruzen's hands.
I hope that with this lesson, Danzo can be more obedient...
"By the way, Hiruzen."
Mitokado Homura seemed to have thought of something, and suddenly frowned and looked at Sarutobi Hiruzen, lowering his voice and asked: "Is it really okay to let Tsunade and the others go?"
If those things fall into Tsunade's hands, they, the top leaders, may not get any benefits.
"It doesn't matter."
Sarutobi Hiruzen took a puff of cigarette and said indifferently: "Danzo has already sent people over."
However, at the same time, the situation in Uzushio Village was not what they imagined.
"What exactly happened here?"
Tsunade and others looked at the scene in front of them and fell into a weird stagnation and silence.
