"What on earth happened here?"
Looking at the unfamiliar scene in front of her, Tsunade stood there in a daze, almost thinking that she was lost.
In her impression, the Land of Whirlpools is a beautiful place with green trees and big rivers.
The trees will dye the water waves into a green color, reflecting the wide blue sky.
But now, Uzushio Village has fallen into darkness, but the darkness is not pure enough.
In the night sky hung a shadow of the moon, distorted by the scorching air.
The green forest had disappeared, leaving only the dry and burnt tree trunks.
Under the distorted moonlight, the remaining flames on the tree trunks emitted a faint red light.
It cannot be a source of light to illuminate the night, but instead adds a touch of dead silence to it.
It was like a black curtain that closed after a show had ended, decorated with intricate red patterns, yet still shockingly black.
Click.
Jiraiya subconsciously took a step forward and seemed to step on something and made a crisp sound.
"…What is that?"
Jiraiya looked down and saw only a charred area and a piece of "trunk".
Trunk?
When he squinted his eyes and looked carefully, he finally recognized its true appearance.
It was not a trunk of a tree at all!
It was actually a human arm!
The strong arm that should have been powerful now only made people think of one words.
– Crispy.
It’s a bit of a chilling metaphor, but it is very appropriate.
It was as dry as firewood and had shrunk a lot.
No, I should say…
"These are all body parts?"
Jiraiya raised his other foot in astonishment, and another crisp sound was made, which made people feel chill under their spine.
At his feet was a corpse, completely carbonized from head to toe. Its fragility was visibly apparent to the naked eye, no different from that of a dry tree trunk.
The same charring, the same decay.
When everyone looked up, they were all stunned and astonished.
Charred corpses, all charred corpses!
There were charred corpses lying all over the ground in front of them. There were so many of them that they covered the entire ground. The density was so high that it was uncomfortable, and the stench was nauseating!
Those charred and ugly limbs looked like twisted branches full of flowers, turning into a low jungle.
Leaving a long-lasting visual shock in the eyes, it wantonly drew a black painting, transformed into monsters crawling out of the ground, stretching out their arms to drag them down to hell.
"It looks like the Uzushio Village was lured into a trap by the Kirigakure?" A jonin whispered, "There are traces of explosive tags, and this level of flames. Is there anyone in the Kirigakure Village who can perform such large-scale fire ninjutsu?"
He saw large areas of corpses and tree debris that had been blown up, with black smoke from the burning covering the wreckage.
The initial speculation is that a terrifying number of explosive tags exploded at the same time, and then someone used this to launch a fire release ninjutsu...
"No, I'm afraid that's not the case."
Kato Dan slowly squatted down and picked up two forehead protectors from under his feet, ignoring the burning pain in his hands.
Looking at the Kirigakure logo on it, a trace of surprise flashed in his eyes, and he whispered: "It seems that there are only Kirigakure corpses here..."
As soon as these words were spoken, everyone present fell silent for a moment, their eyes started scanning the charred corpse at their feet, their expressions gradually started to become serious and suspicious.
Really.
There really is only Kirigakure's corpse.
At least from here, all you can see is Kirigakure's forehead protector.
Someone used a barrier technique." Kato Dan used all his perception to quickly find out the situation in this forest. He said in a serious tone: "After surrounding the Kirigakure ninja in this forest, he ignited the explosive tags and performed a fire release ninjutsu at this location."
In other words, no matter whether it was the people trapped in the barrier or the people who cast the barrier and ninjutsu, in the end, no one would be able to escape.
“…”
Tsunade stood up silently and looked at the horrifying scene in front of her. Suddenly, she felt a sense of familiarity.
The flames rising into the sky seemed to flash across her eyes, causing her heart to twitch and her bandaged arm to ache slightly.
"Tsunade, what's wrong with you?"
Jiraiya's worried voice came to her ears, but Tsunade waved her hand with a painful expression and said in a deep voice: "It's okay, let's keep going."
Click.
After the fire was extinguished, the land was left with only white ashes.
Tsunade and her companions walked in a scorched forest, crushing gray bones with every step they took.
But none of them spoke.
There was only a continuous sound of crackling.
Passing by many densely packed charred dead trees, it was like a scarecrow standing watch in the woods, afraid that a living monster would walk out of it.
The hot and oppressive air was simply suffocating.
Several people involuntarily quickened their pace and soon walked out of the deepest shadow.
The moonlight shining on their bodies was neither hot nor warm, but the cold wind blowing from the lake made everyone suddenly feel a little cold.
The chill seemed to penetrate into their hearts as the moonlight shone on their bodies.
"Huh!"
Jiraiya's lining was soaked with sweat. He shivered and clutched the collar of his clothes tightly. He couldn't help but exhale a breath of depressed air from his lungs: "The range of this fire release ninjutsu feels too large..."
"Shh."
Tsunade put her hand to her lips, looked into the distance expressionlessly, and said in a grim tone: "It seems that I am already late."
Tsunade saw that the Uzushio Village in the distance was still only a scorched earth, with faint white smoke and the smell of burning rising from the ground, just a desolate scene.
Everywhere she looked, there was wasteland.
Tsunade continued to walk forward with a heavy expression. The people behind her subconsciously tightened their kunai and took cautious steps.
But after entering the first floor of the building, everyone couldn't help but stop and let out a hissing sound as they gasped for air.
The air in the entire building was filled with a burning smell, and cracks covered the entire first floor of the building like a spider web.
The entire building was crumbling and all the windows and doors were blown out.
The charcoal-black walls on both sides were full of hideous grooves, stretching from their side to the end of the other side, revealing the rough steel bars exposed inside the walls.
The devastation and every detail reveal the brutality and terror that took place here.
Just looking at those blade marks, you can feel a sense of sharpness.
And in their dull eyes, there was a reflection of a shadowy figure.
The entire floor was filled with charred corpses without heads, all of which seemed to be kneeling in a pilgrimage posture, like a painting of a passage leading to hell.
"This……"
Seeing this horrifying scene in front of him, even Jiraiya, who was a strong man, couldn't help but feel his scalp tingling.
The breath of cold and death filled the entire air, and people could feel it clearly with every breath. It turned out that death was not only a concept, but also a real smell at the olfactory level.
"Why do I feel..."
Kato Dan exhaled and whispered, "The situation in the Whirlpool Country is a little different from what we imagined."
