"Good evening, Lord Kumokawa."
Amidst the rippling sounds of the lake breeze and lake waves, the two people guarding the city gate bowed slightly and said respectfully to Kumokawa in front of them: "Please show me proof."
The moat seemed to be several feet wide, and the city wall was ten feet high and over eight feet thick, making Yahiko and Konan open their mouths slightly.
Just this city wall and moat may not be able to stop the ninjas of Amegakure Village, but it is enough to make most bandits give up the idea of plundering.
When did a small city appear out of thin air here?
Didn't the daimyo and those officials find out?
Kumokawa is almost establishing a country under their noses, right?!
Those losers are really hopeless!
While Yahiko was still surprised, the guard's words brought him back to his senses.
"Ah? What proof can you show?"
As if he heard something incredible, Yahiko's eyes widened immediately behind him, and he looked at Kumokawa and took out the card with a smile and handed it over.
It was a card engraved with some words and with strange patterns on the surface.
After one of them had seen it, they took a slight step back to make way for Kumokawa and the others. At the same time, they handed over a black umbrella and said, "I'm sorry, Mr. Kumokawa, please forgive me."
"That's not necessary." Kumokawa took the black umbrella, shook his head and said with a smile, "You did a good job, it's just your duty."
After that, as the two guards looked on, he held up his umbrella and walked into the city in the swaying rain.
After passing through the city gate, the wide bluestone road made Yahiko and others slightly stunned, and they felt as if they had arrived in the capital.
No, it looked cleaner and tidier than the capital they had seen before!
"That,Brother Kumokawa."
Finally, he turned around and glanced at the two guards. Yahiko approached Kumokawa and asked in a low voice: "Are you sure this is the city you built? Why do you have to show your ID when you enter your home?"
"...I didn't build it." Kumokawa glanced at him and said in a perfunctory tone, "I built it with everyone."
whispering sound.
Yahiko curled his lips in disdain and complained in his heart: If he took the lead in establishing it, he can just say that he established it himself, and he insists on talking about how everyone should work together.
This guy is so pretentious!
"You have to register your household registration later. When you get the certificate, only then you will be allowed to come in and out..."
At this time, Kumokawa glanced at Yahiko warningly and reminded: "Also, those two are very responsible men. Even if I force my way in, they will find a way to catch me back. You'd better be honest with them!"
Of course, let's not talk about whether they can catch him. If so, they will kill themselves afterwards to apologize.
After all, "the duty lies" is "the duty lies", and "the Lord humiliates the subject to death" is "the Lord humiliates the subject to death."
There is no need to tell Yahiko these things, even if he did, he wouldn't be able to understand.
"I know!" Yahiko responded in a long tone, and then asked, "What is household registration?"
"The main information above is your name, date of birth, relatives, marital status and other information." Kumokawa simply explained, "You only need to know that this can reduce possible spies and hidden clues in the future."
There are some capable people under him.
The so-called "household registration certificate" is not a "card" that can be forged at will, but an identity certificate with a special encryption method that is extremely difficult to decipher and detect. It records relatively detailed information such as body shape and appearance.
The two unattractive guys at the door were rebel ninjas who were forced to leave because they couldn't agree with Hanzo's philosophy before they met Kumokawa. They were both guys with the secret technique of perception.
Unless he was a software-modified guy like Orochimaru, who used the B-level forbidden technique "Vanishing Facial Copy Technique" with a real face, it would be difficult to deceive the two of them with simple disguise and transformation techniques.
Of course, if their illusion skills are so strong that they are caught unknowingly, there is nothing they can do for the time being.
Fortunately, their presence is not too strong now and they have not become a thorn in the eyes of others. It will be fine if Kumokawa is replaced by someone more suitable in the future.
"The Uzumaki clan seems to be quite suitable.” After thinking, Kumokawa thought to himself, "Guarding the gate is also a vital job!"
However, in addition to reducing the risk of spies, secret agents, and spies infiltrating, household registration also has huge benefits for taxation, population management, and conscription. It facilitates census, adjustment of population structure, male-female ratio, and so on.
The sooner this kind of thing is done, the better. It can be divided into occupations such as "scholar", "agricultural", "industry", "business", etc. In the future, when there are too many people and teams are difficult to manage, they can be managed by subdivided departments..
In order to adjust the household registration system to be in line with reality, he had spent a lot of time and energy at the beginning, so he naturally had to play a good leading role.
"Lord Kumokawa! You are back!"
Although there was still a hazy drizzle, the village looked lively.
Some people put up small rain shelters, and some shops put up rain shelters, shouting enthusiastically in the shops.
While Kumokawa was thinking, they had unknowingly arrived in front of a tavern. When the woman at the door saw Kumokawa, her eyes suddenly lit up.
"Have you eaten? Do you want to have some midnight snacks?"
Kumokawa came back to his senses and recognized the person in front of him. He smiled gently and said: "Good evening, Mrs. Yoshikawa, but forget about late night snacks. I'm not used to four meals a day."
Just when the woman was about to say something, she heard shouting coming from the tavern.
"Mrs. Yoshikawa! We are out of wine! Add another bottle of soju! I made some money again today, so I must drink it to my heart's content!"
"Why are you urging me to come right now, you old drunkard,! Then I'll have to excuse myself for the time being, Lord Kumokawa!"
"Please don't pay attention to me." Kumokawa waved his hand gently, with a helpless expression.
"Lord Kumokawa, have you rescued four poor children again this time?"
"Yeah, now that I've seen them, I have to save them. I'll have to trouble you all to help me take care of these little devils in the future."
"You are as gentle as ever, Lord Kumokawa!"
Just a short walk into the village, whether they were businessmen or civilians, they would say hello with a smile, or come over to chat, and try to force something on Kumokawa.
This made Kumokawa unable to bear it. They repeatedly waved their hands to beg for mercy but to no avail.
Yahiko, who was still laughing and watching the fun, became unnatural because of their enthusiasm.
The last few people simply started running. It wasn't until they ran out of the designated commercial area that no one finally came up to them.
Because they ran into the "residential area" that was being expanded.
The pungent smell of cement, the dull sound of moving, the noisy shouting…
"Work hard! It will be finished soon... Hey! Old bastard! Where are you going? Look at the bottom of your feet! You broke it under my nose, I must tear your bones apart!"
The men were working with their backs to the sky and their faces to the loess, carrying a load of sand on their backs and two buckets in their hands. The person in charge with a hat was directing everywhere.
The chilly rain in the sky did not dampen their determination at all.
"This...is such a strange feeling."
Seeing the scene in front of them that was full of waste but exuding amazing vitality, Yahiko and others couldn't help but feel an inexplicable shock in their hearts.
"I came here three years ago with my father."
Ayumi's eyes flickered slightly, and she said in a strange tone: "If I remember correctly, at that time, this place was still being ravaged by bandits, and it was in a dilapidated state that was worse than an ordinary village. But now..."
If we say that the capital of the Kingdom of Rain is like a steel jungle, with numerous towers and exposed pipes inside, it feels cold and majestic at first glance, but after a long look, it will feel chaotic.
So, the small city in front of us may not be as big as the capital city, but it has surpassed most cities and villages, especially the scene of bustling work in front of us, which is far beyond the imagination of a few little ones.
They stood here and looked at it. Although there were many pipes in the building, they could see that they were all planned and there were no hammers here and there.
There is not much difference in the size of the buildings, but there are some differences in style. It does not look chaotic at first glance. It is obvious that strict standards are followed, and the interior of the building is customized and decorated.
They even saw that if a worker's work was substandard, the supervisor would scold him bloody, and those workers could only smile and beg for mercy.
"Brother Kumokawa, this..." Konan's face was full of confusion and surprise, and she asked curiously, "How did you make them so conscious and well-behaved?"
In her few memories, the quality of these workers was very low. They would often goof off and work hard, and would not obey discipline without threats.
"Well, it's a bit complicated to explain." Kumokawa narrowed his eyes and said thoughtfully. "To put it simply, it's just one sentence."
"What?" Yahiko subconsciously took a step forward and blurted out.
"When the granaries are full, the people follow appropriate rules of conduct, and when there is enough to eat and wear, the people know honor and shame; When people are obedient, they will have strong ties."
As soon as these words came out, Yahiko's pitifully small brain immediately shut down.
What kind of etiquette is there? What do you know? What kind of support do you have?
I obviously understand every word, but I can't understand them all!
"This sentence means…”
Kumokawa sighed, rubbed his head vigorously, and said with a smile: "When the granaries are full, the people follow appropriate rules of conduct, and when there is enough to eat and wear, the people know honor and shame. If the leader takes the lead in following the system, the people below will learn."
Hearing this, unlike Yahiko who was stunned on the spot as if struck by lightning, Ayumi frowned and gave up thinking.
She didn't need to understand the meaning of these things.
She just needs to know...
When the world is full of locked rooms, the person with the key is the "king".
