Uchiha Giyu chapter 127
🕑 Added 2024-02-21 03:58:10 +0000 UTCChapter 127 Do you know where you went wrong?
Kyojuro put down the tea cup in his hand with satisfaction and praised loudly: "It's been so long since I've tasted such authentic wisteria tea! It's exactly the same as the one brewed by Mrs. Amane. It's really nostalgic!" (Amane is the lord's wife.)
As he said, He turned his head, and his hot and bright eyes stayed on Giyu's face, "Giyu, you feel the same way, right?"
Giyu said that he would get along well with all the resurrected Hashiras to make up for the regrets of the past.
In Kyojuro's view, there is nothing more effective than sincerely praising another person's intentions to achieve this.
So he decided to lend a helping hand and guide Giyu once...
But what surprised him was that after finishing his tea, Giyu just nodded calmly: "Maybe."
Kyojuro's expression froze slightly for a moment, feeling that he had done it Superfluous things.
Not only did Giyu not praise him, but he also looked indifferent. Thinking back to Miss Shinobu's character...
[Sure enough, I shouldn't have forced Giyu to evaluate the fruits of Miss Shinobu's labor without hinting in advance! Now...]
But what surprised him was that Kocho Shinobu actually covered her mouth and laughed without caring: "You ask him to tell, but he can't tell. Because Tomioka has never drunk Mrs. Amane's hand-made brew wisteria tea."
"Why is that?"
Kyojuro has not worked at the headquarters with Giyu in the past, so he doesn't know this. "Is it because you can't get used to the taste of wisteria?"
“Hey, this has something to do with an embarrassing incident of Tomioka. Although he may not realize until now, there is something wrong with what he did..." Kocho Shinobu's eyes flashed mischievously, and he turned to ask Giyu: "How about it? Do you want me to tell you?"
"I have nothing to embarrass at all."
Giyu's Sharingan eyes revealed a strong look of doubt, "I don't know what you want to say."
Kocho Shinobu showed a true expression, " Since you said that, I won't be polite. Rengoku should also want to hear it, right?"
In fact, Kyojuro had no intention of inquiring into other people's dark history.
But he saw with his own eyes that although Giyu had made progress in expression detection over the years, his ability to read the air was actually regressing.
If Miss Shinobu thinks it is an embarrassing thing but Giyu doesn't realize it, then it is indeed time to bring up the old thing again and let Giyu be alert, otherwise history will repeat itself sooner or later.
So he nodded, looking like he was listening attentively: "I'd like to hear the details!"
"Then I'll tell you."
Kocho Shinobu sat upright, looking like a storyteller in Kabukicho, "When it happened, I was still not an Insect Hashira, so my sister told me about this.”
"It is said that when Tomioka was an ordinary team member, he always followed clues to find traces of demons. His crow Kanzaburo is very old and can only follow him everywhere, so he cannot report back to the headquarters frequently. Later, it was my sister who met him by chance and learned from the crow's complaints that Tomioka had killed more than a hundred demons. According to the regulations, a swordsman can become a Hashira by killing fifty demons.”
"Have you already achieved such results without becoming a Hashira? "
Kyojuro couldn't help but cheer, "It's really amazing! Giyu! "
Kocho Shinobu nodded with the same approval and continued: "Anyway, my sister told the lord about this, and the lord decided to call Tomioka to the headquarters to complete the appointment ceremony of the water Hashira. Because it was their first meeting, and Tomioka's crow rarely reported back to the headquarters, neither the lord nor Mrs. Amane knew much about him. When Mrs. Amane served wisteria tea to the newly appointed Hashira as usual, Tomioka was about to get up and leave immediately. "
“I can imagine!"
Kyojuro was not too surprised. If others do this it is a serious disrespect, but if it is Giyu, it seems to be normal.
"My lord and Mrs. Amane were both young at that time, and inexplicable things happened suddenly. It was inevitable. Feeling a bit at a loss, I asked frankly why Tomioka left. Was there something wrong with the taste of the tea? "
When Kocho Shinobu said this, his eyes glanced at Giyu's face: "Tomioka answered like this at the time - 'I will not drink this cup of tea. I am different from them. I shouldn't be here either.’ ”
"I see." Kyojuro understood it all at once.
According to Giyu's always too humble view of himself, he felt that he was not qualified to be a Hashira, so he could not drink this cup of ritual tea with peace of mind like other Hashiras. But for the first meeting As far as his lord and Mrs. Amane are concerned, I am afraid that Giyu's answer can only make them more confused.
"For a long time after that time, my lord and his wife thought that Giyu simply hated the taste of wisteria tea. Every time they meet, Madam only gives Giyu plain water. It wasn't until more than half a year later that they figured out the actual meaning of that statement, but the habit of pouring plain water for the water Hashira remained. So from beginning to end, Tomioka never enjoyed the same treatment as other Hashiras. "
At this point, Kyojuro finally understood Giyu's "Maybe" comment.
[As expected of Miss Shinobu. For more than three years, Giyu and I have met every day, and my understanding of Giyu is still incomparable to hers!]
Kocho Shinobu narrowed his eyes and asked Giyu jokingly: "So, do you now know what you did wrong? "
"Um. "Giyu nodded deeply and said seriously: "When dealing with people with a higher status than yourself, it would be very impolite to just stand up and leave. I should explain the reasons first and ask for permission before leaving, otherwise it will make others uncomfortable. "
“..."
Kocho Shinobu clasped her hands and squeezed hard. After enduring it for a while, she commented sarcastically: "I have felt it before, Tomioka... you are really good at grasping the key points of other people's words."
Who knew that Giyu actually nodded helpfully and responded politely: "Thank you for saying that, Kocho.”
Flame Hashira and Insect Hashira looked at each other, and they raised their foreheads and lowered their heads in unison. Only Giyu was left in the room, sitting peacefully in embarrassment and silence, recalling Kocho Shinobu's "praise" for his way of conducting himself in the world.
After about half a minute, Kyojuro took the lead in regrouping and broke the silence: "I propose that from today on, everyone should address each other by their first names! This will reduce the distance and sense of isolation!"
After all, Giyu’s surname is no longer Tomioka. In addition, he was a person who easily dwelled on the past. Kyojuro felt that if Kocho Shinobu continued to scream like this, it might awaken many negative memories that he had buried for a long time.
Kocho Shinobu thought for a while and nodded: "You can just call me by my name."
She remembered her lord's judgment about the "tearing feeling" in Giyu's heart. Calling him Tomioka would indeed make it worse. Risk of tearing sensation. But calling the name Uchiha felt too unfamiliar to her. Besides, she would inevitably meet Giyu's family members or clanssmen in the future, and it would always be a bit strange to call them by their last name.
"I am ok with it." Giyu also had no objection.
In this way, the three people reached an agreement on the first matter.
"Okay, we've finished the tea and exchanged greetings. It's time to get down to business."
Kocho Shinobu looked solemn, took the map, spread it flat on a short round table made of rolled tree branches, and used her fingers to draw three circles on it.
"This is what I asked Yakushi Kabuto, and he told me that Orochimaru has three other strongholds in the Kingdom of Water."
"Are there many people who have been captured?" Kyojuro gestured on the map with his fingers. It seems to be calculating the distance.
"That's right." Kocho Shinobu nodded: "Those three strongholds are smaller than this one. There are two or three special children in each stronghold, but most of them are 'experiment subjects' captured by Orochimaru. There are ninjas and ordinary people among them, and other subordinates of Orochimaru are responsible for taking care of them."
“These three places are not far from here."
Kyojuro judged: "I can bring them back within a day! The key question, how to place them in the future."
In addition to the children who have lost their families, the "experiment subjects" who were captured were also a mixed bag.
Some of them were fugitives who committed all kinds of crimes, some were farmers from nearby villages, and some were simply ninjas from Kirigakure Village. How to properly screen and arrange these people is also a big problem.
For example, the adults working with the Bloodline Limit children below the hillside were the ones Kyojuro had carefully observed and were less likely to be hostile to others, so he brought them out.
As for the remaining people whose conditions are still uncertain, they are still isolated individually in the prison area on the second floor of the base, and there are hundreds of them. Coupled with the three batches he is about to bring back, the number of people will not be too small.
"These people can be handed over to the daimyo of the Kingdom of Water and let him find a way to identify them. The key is still these helpless children."
Kocho Shinobu frowned and said decisively: "They absolutely cannot stay in this country. "
“The Fourth Mizukage is dead, and the decree has been abolished."
Giyu said in confusion, "If we find their relatives who may still be alive, we might be able to raise them..."
“It's not that simple."
Kocho Shinobu shook her head and interrupted him: "I know what you are thinking, Giyu. You think this is the same as killing the demon Kibutsuji Muzan and all demons will cease to exist. All the mistakes are the fault of the initiator. As long as source of evil is solved, everything will slowly get better, right?"
"Yes." Giyu nodded, "Didn't the daimyo of the Kingdom of Water always want this country to return to normal? Now there is no obstacle for him. "
"This is a very simple idea."
Kocho Shinobu asked: "But have you ever thought about the impact of so many years of cruel policies on this country, many of which are irreversible in a short period of time."
Kocho Shinobu planned to take some examples.
"The reforms in the late Meiji period have proven that no matter how outrageous the policy, there will always be beneficiaries.”
"According to my understanding in the past few days, the Fourth Mizukage persecuted the villages with bloodline limits, but at the same time, it also targeted those Bloodline limit clans. Although this approach is puzzling, it gives a large number of civilian ninjas more opportunities for promotion, and even the privilege of killing first and then reporting later.”
"Now that he is dead, these beneficiaries are still there, and the conflict between them and the big clans that was damaged in the past few years is on the verge of breaking out. The Kirigakure Village will take long time to solve this problem. Contradictory, the Kingdom of Water is still not at peace. If these children continue to live among the people of the Kingdom of Water, they will either become an outlet for civilian ninjas; or they will be taken away and become tools of the bloodline limit ninjas." Kocho Shinobu paused and said, "Furthermore, the policies of the Fourth Mizukage not only affected the concept of ninjas, but also made the people regard these special children as disaster stars and enemies; on the contrary, after what these children have experienced, it is difficult for them to trust others people anymore."
There was a trace of disgust in her tone, "For example, that Yakushi Kabuto cooperated with Orochimaru to destroy the homes of those children, but many of them not only did not hate him, but were very grateful and begged me not to kill him. Can you imagine this?"
Not to mention Giyu, even Kyojuro raised his eyebrows strangely, feeling a little weird.
"Actually, if you think about it carefully, it's not difficult to understand why they had this idea. The villages destroyed by Orochimaru were either discovered by the Kirigakure ninjas and were about to be destroyed due to the existence of bloodline limits; or the villagers were trying to survive, intending to attack these children in advance.”
"But no matter which one they are, after the bloodline limit was exposed, most of these children have experienced the disillusionment of being treated as enemies by the villagers. If they are lucky, they are hidden at home by their parents and are not allowed go out to meet people at all; more unlucky ones are locked up without water or food, while the people in the village are waiting for them to fend for themselves. At this time, Orochimaru's summoning beast destroyed their home, but they also completely lost their trust in their parents, family and fellow villagers…”
"Afterwards,Yakushi Kabuto appeared as a savior. He promised them food, strength and future. Even if we exposed the truth and told them that this was a trap, there are still some people who can't hate Yakushi Kabuto and Orochimaru at all. Because in their view, if Without this accident, they would probably have died at the hands of their biological parents. Although they can't be said to be grateful, they have 'benefited' from it."
Under the warm sunshine, Kocho Shinobu's words made people feel cold all over.
"Can you call the villagers' actions evil? But the policy is there. If these children with bloodline limits are not targeted, they will all face the risk of being killed. "
“Can you call these children who are grateful to Yakushi Kabuto and Orochimaru heartless? If those villagers hadn't died, it would have been them, and they would have died in unimaginable despair, betrayed by their families. And this is the distortion that Kirigakure's policies have brought to the people. Once the bond of family affection is destroyed, it will never be restored without a generation…”
"Can you imagine what the consequences will be if you continue to let these children grow up in a place like this?"
"It's really a pity. They are obviously so young..."
Kyojuro stood up and looked at the people below. The children were cutting down trees and transporting stones, and they seemed quite happy for the time being.
"But their trust in people has been ruthlessly destroyed! If they are allowed to grow up in this country, they will never experience the kind of warmth that people should fully understand, and naturally they will not bring this warmth to others! Over time, they will become alienated, withdrawn, and cold-hearted..."
But immediately, he turned around and said loudly: "But we must let them understand that even if they get a bloody blow, even if they feel that they are ten thousand Reasons to hate this world, even if they think everyone is their enemy, or potential enemy. The goodwill, friendship, and family affection in life can still pull them back from the cliff of despair! No matter what kind of predicament they sink into, in their hearts there must still be light!"
"Us!"
Kyojuro turned his back to the morning sun, patted his chest heavily, and looked at Giyu and Shinobu with infinite hope.
"It's up to us to be their family and friends! To be the ones who can pull them back from the cold abyss! It's up to us to give them a warm home! We are very powerful and have this ability; We are also very young and have this energy and patience! As long as we persevere, we will definitely be able to do this!"
"Not bad." Kocho Shinobu endured the congestion in her cheeks and said with a smile, "That's exactly what I thought."
“At least," Giyu also nodded seriously and said, "We cannot let them become the same people as those who harmed them. In that case, everything they did before will be meaningless."
The three people reached a consensus again.
"But," Giyu changed his voice, "After leaving their hometown, where should we take them?"
“In my opinion, this place is very good."
Kocho Shinobu turned over the map of the Water Country, and on the back was a Ninja world map.
And the place where her finger was pressed was the center of the world.
"According to Yakushi Kabuto, Orochimaru's bases are all over the ninja world. And this country is located in the center of the continent. No matter where you go, the distance is about the same. Even if he is really resurrected, it will be much more convenient for us to find him from here. Finally, The most important thing is that you know this place very well."
Giyu and Kyojuro looked down and expressed their disapproval in unison: "The Country of Rain?"
"Yes. It is unrealistic to take them to settle in a big country. If we have our own ninja village and daimyo, and with a group of children with bloodline limits, we are at risk of being targeted and exploited. Although the three of us are not weak, the children are not ready yet. If they are raised in a big country, They have a lot to worry about. Moreover, we need to reduce the influence of ninjas on them."
Kocho Shinobu took out a piece of folded paper from the pocket of his white coat.
"I searched everywhere last night and found some records of Orochimaru. I noticed that the Daimyo of Rain Country seemed to have ignored state affairs for many years. Although it is in the center of the world, it is a relatively closed country. Except for its geographical and strategic value during wartime , there are almost no resources worthy of attention, so big countries have little interest in it. The area of this country is comparable to Switzerland, but according to Orochimaru's calculations, it has a population of less than 100,000.”
“Considering these contents, he wrote these before 10 years ago, the population of the Rain Country should be smaller now, and the only Sanshouo no Hanzo that needs to be taken care of is dead, and the new leader (referring to Konan) and Kyojuro are also familiar. Putting everything together, this place is most suitable for our self-sufficient life and for these children to grow up in relative privacy. "
Obviously, Kocho Shinobu had already made corresponding plans, so she started doing homework last night.
"The Country of Rain does have advantages in terms of geographical location, but it is probably impossible to be self-sufficient!”
Kyojuro had a full understanding of the Land of Rain and put forward the reason for his opposition: "During the Second Ninja War, Sanshouo no Hanzo fought against ninjas from all over the world and released a large amount of poison. Because the battlefield is in the plain area where farming can be done, the poisonous gas will completely pollute the land, and the crops will die in the war; while in the dense forest, which is less affected by the poison, there are terrifying beasts and poisonous insects everywhere, and the danger is Extremely, it is also unsuitable for people to survive!”
"For many years, the ninjas led by Hanzo have been the only economic pillars of the Country of Rain. It is precisely because of this that ordinary people are insignificant in the Country of Rain. Now that Hanzo is dead, the Rain Hidden Village has a new leader, but still the environment in this country is really too bad!"
Kocho Shinobu didn't care much about this, but grasped a key point: "What do you mean by native crops?"
"It is said that waterlogged rice can thrive even if it rains for three months."
Kyojuro replied, "It's just that after the rainwater and soil are filled with sansho toxin, this kind of rice can no longer survive."
Kocho Shinobu was not surprised: "Rice is a self-pollinating crop. It is not surprising that it evolves too slowly and cannot adapt to new environments."
"Self-pollination?" This is a rare and awkward word. When repeating it, Kyojuro is not even sure if he can write it correctly.
Although Giyu didn't speak, his blank expression showed that he needed to add some scientific knowledge.
"You don't deal much with medicines and insects, so it's not surprising that you don't understand these things. It seems that I need to explain to you what the evolution of plants is, and what self-pollination is..." Kocho Shinobu held her finger to her chin and pondered for a while and suddenly she asked: "Do you know about radish legs?"
Giyu and Kyojuro nodded at the same time: "It means that human calves are as thick as white radish."
"That's what it means." Kocho Shinobu laughed, " But do you know that in the Heian period, radish legs were not used to describe people's thick legs, but were used to praise other people's thin and long legs?"
Thinking about the shape of his favorite radish, Giyu shook his head: " This gap is too big."
"With the efforts of dozens of generations, nothing is impossible."
Kocho Shinobu stretched out two slender fingers and gestured, "It is recorded in the book that the white radish in the Heian period, Most of them are only this thin, and the roots were very long. The round, white and tender radish we eat is a new variety that people have been breeding for four to five hundred years, and it was not until the Edo period that it became but it is now.”
"Actually, the principle of breeding is very simple. It is to pick out all the thin radishes with poor appearance, plant only the seeds of those with good appearance, and then let these high-quality radishes pollinate each other, and repeat this process. For hundreds of years Later, radish with poor quality was completely eliminated, leaving only the kind we eat today.”
"In other words, through this artificial elimination, we achieved the evolution and evolution of radish varieties, taming them into the shapes we want. But the plants we have tamed are far more than just radish, wheat and rice are also among them.”
"It's just different from radish. The pollination of radish is cross-pollination. Just like your parents combined to give birth to you. Although the three of you are similar, you are essentially different people. From generation to generation, the differences will become bigger and bigger, and changes in the environment will guide this difference, allowing future generations to better adapt to this environment and achieve evolution, avoiding being eliminated by the new environment.”
"But a self-pollinating crop like rice is like a copy of itself, and generation to generation actual differences are very small. Once this kind of crop wants to evolve, it takes much longer than the former. This leads to the fact that once the environment changes drastically, self-pollinating plants will perish before they have time to evolve.”
Giyu asked: "You mean, we can grow other cross-pollinated crops in the Rain Country? "
"No, it's not just that. I have a more reliable way, which is to use external forces to allow the evolution of crops to catch up with the rapid changes in the environment. Look at the apple seed in my hand..."
Kocho Shinobu stood up, shoveled the ground behind her, and buried the apple seed into the soil.
Then she knelt down on one knee and folded her hands on the ground surface. "Now, I use the ability of Wood Release to turn chakra into the nutrients it needs for growth, so that it can grow quickly. "
As soon as she finished speaking, a green seedling that swelled when the wind broke out of the ground, quickly enlarged and widened, hardened the soft skin, and became a fruit tree over two meters high and as thick as an ordinary person's arm.
Immediately afterwards, small pink-white flowers appeared on the branches of the apple, but they fell off in a moment; then its torus expanded rapidly, turning into green fruits in just a few seconds, and finally the fruits quickly turned red, turned into an apple the size of a fist.
It took less than 20 seconds in total from planting the seeds to producing new apples.
"20 seconds." Kocho Shinobu stretched out two fingers and said proudly: "I can make a fruit tree go through a generation in 20 seconds. If I repeat this work non-stop for an hour, I can reproduce 180 generations of apples, which is 4320 generations if I switch to 24 hours a day... which is equivalent to 70,000 years of human evolution (taking 18 years as a generation)! "
Hearing this number, Giyu and Kyojuro couldn't help but get excited.
After 70,000 years of evolution, are we still afraid that we won't be able to cultivate crops that can resist toxins?
"It feels very promising."
At this time, Kocho Shinobu smiled slyly: "But if you really think so, you are wrong. "
As she said that, she jumped up and picked an apple from the treetop, and then broke it hard. "Look, is there anything different about this apple? "
Giyu and Kyojuro stared at it for five or six seconds before realizing that the apple in Kocho Shinobu's hand was different from a normal apple: "There are no seeds! "
"Yes. In most cases, only plants that have undergone pollination will produce seeds, and with the seeds, the next generation of crops can be grown. I can use wood release to force apples to bear fruit, but pollination requires another job. Of course I can artificially pollinate, but this way the plant iteration speed will not be very fast. If I plant a hundred of the same crop and add pollination, one generation will be barely enough per day; if I can use insects to pollinate, things will change. It's very simple and can be done two to three times a day. "
Kocho Shinobu concluded: "In short, the general process is like this.”
"In the first step, I plant the seeds of the crops in slightly toxic soil that can barely survive, and use Wood Attribute Chakra to provide nutrients to make them grow.”
"The second step is to carry out cross-pollination artificially or using insects. Make sure the crops produce seeds.”
"The third step is to force the plants to bear fruit before they are killed by soil or rain, and harvest the seeds for replanting. This cycle continues hundreds and thousands of times, gradually increasing the toxicity of the soil. Generation after generation, there will be thousands or even tens of thousands of new varieties, at least one of which can be produced on poisonous soil while being safe for consumption.”
"By that time, large-scale planting in the Kingdom of Rain will not be a problem. Besides, there are only so many people in a country. We don’t need much land in the first place. We can just pick the least toxic soil from the beginning..."
"Including the workload of pollination, how long will it take? "
Kyojuro's eyes are full of confidence.
If crop breeding can be successful, not only will these homeless children in the Kingdom of Water be settled, but the refugees in the Kingdom of Rain who can only pick berries and mushrooms will no longer have to live a life full of fear.
[The angel from the Kingdom of Rain will be very happy to know this, right?]
"A conservative estimate, one to two years. "
Kocho Shinobu looked at Giyu, "If there was a way to control insect pollination, it might be faster.”
Giyu responded: "The Aburame clan in Konoha has a secret technique for controlling insects. I can ask, but this is a family-herited skill that people rely on for survival. There is little hope they will tell me."
Kocho Shinobu narrowed her eyes dangerously, "Do you think there is ever a scumbag in this clan who kills innocent people indiscriminately? "
If there is, she can justifiably "rob" this secret technique, and treat it as atonement for this clan. After all, those who fight in the Kingdom of Rain have Konoha's share. "Konoha's ninjas are relatively peaceful. Whether there is or not is unknown for now. "
Giyu nodded, "But I will check it out when I get back. "
"Good. "Kocho Shinobu nodded, and then looked at Kyojuro, "The weather in the Land of Rain and the Land of Water is very humid. When there is heavy fog, there will also be toxins in the fog, which means that the crops here are also resistant to toxicity. In the recent period, we can collect crops that are unique here, and then use them to cross-breed with crops of the same genus in the Rain Country to see if after hundreds of generations of breeding, there will be better mutant varieties."
“Okay, I will definitely pay attention! "
Kyojuro said and he sincerely praised: "I didn't expect that a matter that makes the strongest person in the ninja world (referring to Nagato) helpless can be solved in this way. Shinobu is indeed the brains of the Demon Slayer Corps. "
"It's just a hypothesis now. When we start doing the actual process, it will definitely not go as smoothly as we thought."
Kocho Shinobu felt a little ashamed at being praised, "Although I hate guys like Orochimaru, he is indeed a talented person. He gave me a lot of inspiration. I think it is necessary to learn a lot of the things he left behind, so that I can avoid many detours…”
"But what really works," Kocho Shinobu turned to look at Giyu and revealed a smile that truly belongs to her and is not a habitual one, " The carrier of resurrection you chose for me. In every aspect, the capabilities of this body are perfect for me. Thank you, Giyu. "
[Sure enough, Just like Kyojuro said, the relationship has been drawn in.]
Giyu can tell that Kocho Shinobu is really very happy now.
However, Sasuke said that his father is happy. That time was when he asked to go to the City of Fire with our family to watch a newly released movie.
"Since you thank me..."
Giyu said in a consultative tone, "Can you release Hozuki Suigetsu? Although he is not flesh and blood like you and me, it is not good to freeze like this. "
"Sure enough, just as I said. "
Kocho Shinobu's eyebrows and eyes curved into a crescent shape, and the meaning in her smile was completely different from a few seconds ago.
"Giyu, you are really good at reading the atmosphere sometimes. "
