🕑 Added 2023-12-27 03:42:28 +0000 UTCChapter 71 3 Years (Part 2)
When Giyu walked into the pedestrian street, Uchiha Mikoto had just gotten the list of new subordinates from the Hokage Building. Unexpectedly, she looked up and saw Giyu's back.
She originally wanted to say hello and walk home with her little son, but then Mikoto remembered that this highly entertainment-oriented street filled with hot springs and casinos was not the place where Giyu usually buys groceries.
[What is Giyu doing here? ]
The curiosity that suddenly arose in her heart drove her to follow behind without saying a word.
Giyu was so focused on the whole journey that he didn't notice anyone behind him at all. Soon, he walked all the way to the corner and entered a bookstore.
"Are you buying a little book for Sasuke?"
Mikoto raised her eyebrows and made a related guess.
It was already evening and there were no customers in the store.
Giyu suppressed the expectation in his heart and walked to the counter with a serious expression. He stared at the shop owner who was settling accounts, and asked in a low voice: "Have you found the book I asked you to find?"
This spy-like attitude startled the boss. But when he looked up and saw that it was Giyu, he didn't seem too surprised.
"Why are you talking in such a low voice... It makes me look like what I sold you is something shameful."
The boss muttered angrily and took out a paper bag from under the counter.
At this time, Uchiha Mikoto happened to arrive outside the bookstore.
She pretended to take out a real estate magazine from the shelf outside and read it, but her ears were tightly focused on the movements in the room.
"This series of books was out of print a few years ago because they were boycotted by ninjas."
The boss's mysterious tone made Mikoto raise a brow.
She leaned her back against the wall outside the bookstore to hear better.
Giyu took the paper bag and arranged several books in a row quite solemnly.
The titles of the books are -
"Reading People Accurately Like a Ninja·Summary"
"Reading People Accurately Like a Ninja I: Body Language Insights into the Secrets of the Human Heart·Men’s Chapter"
"Reading People Accurately like a Ninja II: Body Language Insights into the Secrets of the Human Heart· Women’s Chapter”
“Reading People Accurately Like a Ninja III: 1,000 Pictures to Teach You to Distinguish Subtle Emotions·Practical Chapter”
“Seeing People Accurately Like a Ninja IV: Why there are differences in emotional expression between men and women”
Giyu opened the cover and was surprised to find that The author of the set of these books and the book his mother gave him turned out to be the same person!
The boss looked at Giyu, whose eyes were about to shine, and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
Despite his words about cherishing them, in fact these books cannot be sold in the ninja village.
This author wrote the book entirely based on his own opinions, but he chose to use the banner of the Ninja Village of the Five Great Nations. In addition, the language style was humorous and interesting, so it was very popular among civilians who knew nothing about it.
On the contrary, no one bought the large interrogation works that the ninjas had worked so hard to compile, so this set of books soon encountered severe boycotts.
"Primary Evolution"
was not allowed to enter the Ninja Village until his latest work, for which Onoki, the Third Tsuchikage, paid a high price to write the preface.
But to be honest, the latest book three years ago, "Iwa Ninja ANBU Teaches You Mind Reading", is actually his highest level book.
As for the books in front of me, they are purely for bluffing.
"How much do these five books cost?"
Giyu raised his head and asked.
"Oh, it took me a lot of effort to get these out-of-print books."
The boss knew that it was time to raise prices, so he opened the album of "Practical Combat" and ran his fingers over the close-ups of the models one by one.
"Especially this book. It's full of clear pictures, and all the details are clear at a glance. If you look at these close-up shots, you can see even the slightest wrinkle on the skin, and the texture of the skin when the blood spurts out. The color changes and the blood vessels on the neck can be said to be very detailed..."
Uchiha Mikoto outside the bookstore suddenly covered her mouth to stop her subconscious exclamation, her eyes filled with disbelief.
[Could it be that Giyu bought that kind of book? ]
Money, alcohol, and sex are the three taboos of ninjas. If they go too far, it should be normal for ninjas to boycott them.
Especially if it is related to books, there is only the third ban.
Mikoto's brows frowned severely.
[But how old is Giyu this year! It shouldn't be...]
And inside, Giyu was staring at an image called "Rage" and nodded.
[It turns out that every time Kocho Shinobu opens her mouth to talk to me, she is always angry for the first few minutes. ]
The boss seemed to be more devoted when he saw Giyu face, and said while the iron was hot: "There is also this book, because it exposed many secrets that women themselves did not know, so it was crazily boycotted by many female ninjas. The author himself has also been criticized many times. Assassination, gradually no bookstore dared to sell it. It was very difficult to get. Many male readers searched all over the country and couldn't find a copy.”
"But look at you kid, I won't ask you how many copies of this set of books you want, just one book at a time."
The boss's additional remarks made Mikoto even more convinced of her suspicions.
Her face was as calm as pig iron, but she did not stop him on the spot. She planned to go back and find some time to secretly take the books and burn them while Giyu was not at home.
After all, How embarrassing it would be to confront such a thing face to face.
To be honest, Uchiha Mikoto thought that with Giyu character, he would never be interested in the opposite sex in his life, and would most likely end up alone.
But now It seemed that he was still interested, but in a way that seems unhealthy.
But how could an honest kid like Giyu come into contact with these things?
Suddenly, Mikoto remembered that more than two years ago, Giyu stopped Kakashi on the street and wanted him to use the Sharingan to cast genjutsu on him (actually, Giyu wanted to further confirm Kakashi's power through personal experience. Mangekyo sharingan).
Combined with Kakashi's usual style of not daring to read his senses in public...
[Is it that boy? ]
As soon as such suspicions arose in her mind, she heard Giyu inside say: "I want these books. Also, last time you said you would help me find Jiraiya's books in the warehouse, have you found them?"
"Oh, if you don't tell me, I will forget it."
The boss slapped his forehead and took out another book with two to three hundred pages from the counter.
"This is the first work published by Lord Jiraiya, one of the legendary Sannin! Although it is a bit obscure, it is indeed suitable for children of your age!"
Uchiha Mikoto finally couldn't help it anymore!
Forget it if Giyu is ignorant!
It’s understandable that the boss would sell inappropriate things to him for money!
But she couldn't bear to confuse right and wrong and describe unhealthy books as "suitable for children"!
"Giyu!"
Uchiha Mikoto shouted sternly, entering the bookstore with one hand on her hip.
"Mom?" Giyu immediately recognized the owner of the voice and subconsciously blocked the books on the counter, fearing that the treasure he had finally found would be confiscated again.
Unexpectedly, when the bookstore owner heard this, not only was he not embarrassed, but he walked out of the counter enthusiastically and said with a smile: "Oh, this lady is your mother. So may I ask, do you pay for the books?"
"Pay the bill?"
Uchiha Mikoto had veins sprouting from her forehead and said word by word: "Okay, then come with me to the Guard to pay the bill!" "
“Eh?"
Although the Guard's reputation has improved a lot recently, but that's not the case. A place where people who break the law go, and the boss suddenly got unhappy.
"What do you mean by that? Although it's a bit expensive, it's because the things are really cherished. If you think they're expensive and don't want to buy them, I won't sell them."
"If you cherish things, how can you sell these books to children?!"
Uchiha Mikoto laughed angrily at the boss's arrogance. Contrary to her usual gentle and virtuous demeanor at home, she loudly rebuked: "The village's regulations prohibit selling adult books to under the age of 18. Not only did you blatantly sell to him, but you also recommended to him a book written by Jiraiya? You say! If the police force doesn’t arrest people like you, then who should they arrest!"
"Ah?!" The boss became confused.
Giyu, who had been staring blankly at his mother's anger, finally reacted, "Mom, you must have misunderstood."
As he said that, he took down a book called "Tales of a Gutsy Ninja" from the counter and showed the cover to her mother.
Just below the title, there are three big characters written [Jiraiya].
This was the last time Giyu came to the bookstore. He suddenly remembered the name he saw in the "RV" in the Land of Rain, so he asked the boss.
However, only this one of Jiraiya's works could be sold to minors. However, because the number of publications that year was too small and they could not be sold, all these backlogged books were buried deep in the warehouse, and the bookstore owner only recently found them.
"..."
Uchiha Mikoto took the book suspiciously, flipped through two pages, and found that it contained some very positive content. Her face became redder and redder, while the boss's momentum increased steadily.
"Say, who do you think I am! I've been running a bookstore here for more than ten years, how could I make such a mistake! It's so unreasonable!"
Mikoto, who was already in her thirties, blushed. She looked past Giyu and scanned the titles of several other books. She suddenly understood in her heart!
[Oops! This is a big misunderstanding! ]
"Sorry."
She glanced at the price on the back cover of "Tales of a Gutsy Ninja", took out a five hundred ryo bill and put it on the counter, then tucked the bewildered Giyu next to her under her arm, and ran away. It seemed that she had left, but the voice remained where she was with the banknote.
"Just this one! Don't want anything else!"
"Hey, hey, hey-"
The boss shouted quickly, but there was no way he could catch up with a ninja who even wanted to disappear on the spot. He could only watch the other person go away helplessly.
But Uchiha Mikoto had just walked out of the bookstore when she had to stop.
Hyuga Hiashi was standing in the middle of the street with his daughters, watching them intently.
Hyuga Hinata was holding a paper bag tightly in her hand, which smelled of roasted sweet potatoes. Apparently, she was caught on the spot by her father when she was buying such "indecent food" on the way home from school.
But judging from the way she was blushing but looking at Giyu in disbelief -
She had heard exactly what Uchiha Mikoto had yelled in the bookstore just now, so she was surprised.
It's a pity that Uchiha Mikoto really doesn't have the courage to explain anything to them here.
The two parents' eyes met, and finally they looked away tacitly, pretending not to see each other, and continued on their way.
After walking a certain distance, Hyuga Hiashi glanced at his daughter who lowered her head like a quail but never threw away the sweet potatoes.
When he thought of the troublesome child in the Fugaku family, he suddenly felt that Hinata had become more pleasing to the eye, so he said in a gentle tone: "Eat on way. But you can't take this thing home."
"Hey?"
Hinata raised her head and looked at her father, not understanding what he meant.
"Eat before you go home."
Hyuga Hinata could only say clearly, "Hurry up."
"Okay." Hinata looked at the sweet potatoes, her face flushed with happiness. Nothing makes her happier than eating.
No, there are still some.
While her father seemed to be in a good mood, Hinata quickly asked, "Father, can I take Hanabi to a classmate's house for tutoring during the holidays?"
It was rare that her daughter didn't make the request obediently, and Hinata was in a better mood.
"A maximum of three hours a day, and then come back and practice Gentle Fist!"
"Thank you, father!"
"Eat quickly, walking on the path is also fast-"
"Aww."
Hinata raised the corner of her mouth with her finger, "I've finished eating. "
“..."
On the way home, Mikoto put Giyu down.
In other words, Hyuga Hiashi is a strict talker, otherwise she would have to hide out for another three months.
"Giyu."
Mikoto squatted on the bridge of the Konoha River with her back to the setting sun, "Tell me, what are you going to buy that set of books for?"
The thing she regrets most in her life is buying that book for Giyu.
During the New Year two years ago, when she and Giyu went shopping, they met the counselor elder Mitokado Homura who was taking care of his grandson.
While Mikoto was chatting with the other party, Giyu said that Mitokado Homura's smile was too fake, the wrinkles at the end of his eyes were not natural enough, and the muscles at the corners of his mouth were also very stiff.
The second time, the elders of the clan came to visit the house. Before the other party asked Fugaku to do something, he praised Fugaku as the best clan leader in Uchiha in recent years. Of course Fugaku didn't take it seriously, but there was no need to refute it. However, Giyu went in with a teapot to entertain the guests and said "You lied" on the spot, making the situation very embarrassing.
Before buying the book, Mikoto never imagined that Giyu's biggest problem was not that he couldn't identify other people's emotions - it was that even if he could identify them, he didn't know how to respond correctly.
As a result, the "Source of Chaos" was confiscated and Giyu was ordered not to expose other people's lies face to face.
But Mikoto didn't expect that after more than two years, Giyu still couldn't forget that book.
Faced with his mother's question, Giyu thought for a while and said slowly: "Because I want to communicate well with others."
"Huh?" Mikoto was confused.
"But don't you have many friends in school?"
This was another situation that puzzled her.
"That's different."
Giyu shook his head and explained seriously: "It's the kind of communication that can go on forever."
Mikoto blinked, and a happy smile suddenly appeared on her face. "Then Giyu, is the person you want to keep talking to is a girl?"
"Yes." Giyu, who can't lie, nodded.
"Oh hahaha——"
Mikoto quickly covered her mouth to block the involuntary laughter.
"Let's go!"
She patted the back of Giyu's head with her hand, "Go home and tell dad, I can't wait to see his expression."
Giyu looked confused, but he could only follow him home.
