🕑 Added 2023-10-08 02:30:49 +0000 UTCChapter 122 Slug Sage
Looking everywhere, rows of forest trees plunge into the sky.
This kind of tree has no leaves on its body, and its branches are like barbs growing on the trunk. It is covered in a pale color, giving people a feeling of white bones.
The forest was filled with a moist and refreshing atmosphere. When Tsunade arrived here, She took a light breath, feeling that her limbs and bones were full of comfort.
This bone forest is full of extremely thick natural energy. On the ground and pale tree trunks, some blue and white slugs can be seen with the naked eye. A slimy liquid is spit out from the mouthparts of the slugs and flows down the branches.
This is the Shikkotsu Forest, one of the three holy places of Summoning beasts in the ninja world.
The whole space is the domain of slugs.
According to Tsunade's knowledge, the Shikkotsu Forest existed in the world before the concept of ninja was born.
The ruler here is a giant slug with a gentle and kind temper. The small slugs here are all clones of the giant slug, with special abilities such as splitting and spitting corrosive liquids.
"Tsunade-sama, why are you here?"
A slug crawled out from the depths of the woods. Compared to the palm-sized slug next to it, the slug talking to Tsunade was already as big as a hill.
But Tsunade knew that this was still not the real body of the slug, but an insignificant clone of the body.
When signing the contract for the first time, Tsunade was fortunate enough to see the real body of the slug, which is a huge creature that cannot be described in words.
It is hard to imagine that such a magical creature exists in the ninja world.
Although Tsunade is a human being who is many generations younger than her, she has a gentle nature and always likes to call her contractor "Sama".
It can be said to be an alternative existence among the three holy places.
Compared to the mysterious Mount Myōboku and the brutal Ryūchi Cave, the slugs in the Shikkotsu Forest are the most docile creatures.
"Long time no see. Because Konoha had a problem not long ago, I want to know something from you."
"That's right. However, the ninja world is indeed not peaceful now. It seems that there is another war."
Slug lowered her body slightly, her tone full of compassion.
It has lived for thousands of years, so it can be said that She knows the existence of history.
Human beings and ninjas seem to be a constant cycle of curses, unbreakable karma, war and destruction, which have always filled this land.
Tsunade fell silent when she heard this.
War is not a very good memory indeed.
Her younger brother and lover died on the battlefield, and young people also rushed there to die.
After this war, Konoha will have more orphans without parents.
"So, what does Tsunade-sama want to know from me? Although I may not be able to answer it, I know a little about most things in the ninja world."
Slug said in a gentle voice.
Tsunade suppressed her sadness for a while, raised her head and looked up at the slug's huge head, and the other two huge white tentacles stretched out.
"I remember you told me in the past that the Great Toad Sage in Mount Myōboku has a Immortal Talisman that can bring the dead back to life." (Immortal talisman - a sacred seal tag created by the Sage Toads over the centuries that could revive anyone from near death once. I used the immortal talisman as the Fanfiction author did because it doesn't have a name.)
"Yes, Gamamaru does have such a thing in his hand."
Gamamaru is the real name of the Great Toad Sage. In terms of status, the slug is an existence on an equal footing with it, and there is no relationship between superiors and subordinates.
"Such a thing, will he lend it to humans casually?"
Tsunade asked.
Because it is too suspicious.
If it is Jiraiya, Tsunade thinks it can be explained clearly, because Jiraiya signed a contract with Mount Myōboku when he was very young.
But Minato and Mount Myōboku signed the contract, but it was only in recent years. Will the relationship between the two parties be so friendly?
That is a holy place for Summons that has existed for thousands of years. They should have seen through things like life and death.
"Lend it to humans? No, that thing will consume the vitality and sage chakra of Gamamaru. Under normal circumstances, it will not be used. As far as I know, Gamamaru only used this kind of thing on people more than a thousand years ago."
Slug accurately told Tsunade the answer to this matter.
"Used more than a thousand years ago? On Who?"
Tsunade was surprised.
How old was that? The ninja hadn't appeared at that time.
"It's a man named Otsutsuki Humura, the ancestor of the Hyuga clan of Konoha Village."
I’m sure this name hasn’t appeared before, but it’s actually related to the Hyuga Clan… Speaking of the Hyuga Clan, I can’t help thinking that the current Hyuga Clan is in a dilemma because of the part of the family that left.
"That is to say, if there were no special circumstances, the Great Toad Sage would not have bestowed the Immortal Talisman on humans?"
"Yes. If there is, then the person Gamamaru saved is probably the son of prophecy that appeared in his dream."
Both are the masters of the three holy places, and the leaders of the slug and the other holy places know each other's details.
Ninjas who can sign a contract with Mount Myōboku are all powerful figures in the ninja world, but if those people die accidentally, the great toad sage of Mount Myōboku will never use the immortal talisman to bring them back to life.
If there is a situation where the Immortal Talisman is used, it can only be related to the Son of Prophecy.
"What is the Son of Prophecy?"
Tsunade was a little puzzled, and always felt that Mount Myōboku was a bit mysterious.
"If I'm not mistaken, the one who was saved by Gamamaru was a blue-eyed human, right?"
Slug does not answer questions.
"Blue-eyed human? I think..."
Tsunade recalled Minato's appearance, and realized that the other party did have blue eyes, so he nodded at the slug.
"Yes, Minato does have blue eyes."
"That's right, that human being is the son of the prophecy predicted by Gamamaru, the one who can bring peace to the ninja world."
"Bring peace to the ninja world? Minato?"
Tsunade's eyes widened in disbelief. You know, this is a feat that her grandfather Senju Hashirama, the God of Shinobi, was not able to accomplish.
The peace her grandfather made was only during his lifetime.
Immediately afterwards, the ninja world war broke out, and this is the third time now. The disaster and destruction brought by ninjas are getting worse every year.
In Tsunade's view, peace is a distant prospect.
Minato, a young man who is not yet twenty years old, what can he do?
Although he is a genius, he is just a talented Jonin of Konoha. Making the world peaceful is not such a simple matter.
"Gamamaru said so in the prophecy dream at the beginning. He came to ask me and the White Snake Sage in Ryuchi Cave. If the Prophet's Son encountered difficulties and asked for help, he hoped that we could take care of him. Unexpectedly, the Prophet's Son would really appear."
If it’s just a blue-eyed human, that’s nothing, but if the great toad Sage can use the Immortal Talisman to save the blue-eyed human, then the identity can basically be confirmed.
Slug knows that 99% of the Konoha ninja called "Minato" by Tsunade is the son of the prophecy dreamed in the dream of the Great Toad Sage, who can bring peace to the ninja world.
"That is to say, the reason why the Great Toad Sage saved Minato is because of his identity as the prophesied son?"
Tsunade couldn't wait to ask.
"Yes, otherwise I can't imagine that Gamamaru would help a human being in this way. After all, the contractor is just the contractor. Under normal circumstances, the Summoning beast will not die to save the contractor."
Slug said so.
Clearly, Minato is a special type.
Because the son of prophecy, he absolutely cannot die.
"but…"
Slug remembered something again.
"But what?"
"The person who can kill the Son of Prophecy is also a terrible guy. If Tsunade-sama meets that person, it is better to be careful."
Slug was worried about Tsunade's safety, so she reminded her that it's best to avoid and not fight when encountering such a dangerous guy.
"That person is now Konoha's rebellious ninja, and he is also a student I once taught in the ninja school."
Tsunade said with a wry smile.
"Is that so? Anyway, Tsunade-sama needs to pay attention."
"I see. Let's not talk about it for now. I want to know more about the Son of Prophecy."
Tsunade demanded.
"I'm sorry about this matter. I only know so much about the Son of Prophecy. If Tsunade-sama is interested in this, you can go to the kingdom of Demons and find contemporary witches for divination."
"The witch of the Demon country?"
"That is the birthplace of witches. Female humans who inherit the power of witches have the mysterious power to reverse time and space and suppress demons. In terms of prophecy, although they are not as omnipotent as Mount Myōboku, they also have their own uniqueness. Maybe the witches can help you, Tsunade-sama."
Slug explained.
It only knows so much about the Son of Prophecy. If Tsunade continues to study, she must either go to Mount Myōboku or find a human priestess. These are the only two directions.
"Forget it, we are now at war. This time, I have already squeezed out time to come here. It would be a waste of time to go to the kingdom of Demons. Anyway, there is no rush. After the war is over, I will go to the kingdom of Demons and look for the witches there."
Tsunade shook her head. Although she was very concerned about the issue of Minato and the Son of Prophecy, the most important thing now is to win this war.
With the joint attack of Sand Village and Rock Village, Konoha is under a lot of pressure now, and it is not her time to relax.
"In this case, then follow Tsunade-sama's own ideas, and you can call me to help at any time if you need help."
After the slug finished speaking, it squirmed its huge body and headed towards the deep fog area covered by the Shikkotsu forest.
"The son of prophecy? I remember that when I was drinking, Jiraiya also seemed to have leaked this matter..."
Tsunade watched the slug's leaving figure, stood there, frowning and thinking.
"The country of Demons, let's find a chance to go there in the future."
Moreover, she is also very interested in the up-and-coming Aster Flower Pharmaceutical Technology Company, and maybe Konoha can further cooperate with this company.
•••
The country of Demons.
The forbidden military area of the city of Aster, the capital city, has been expanded before, and now it has been divided into many departmental areas.
The office area is responsible for meetings, issuing orders, personnel transfers, etc. The scientific research area is divided into two functions: scientific research and manufacturing and a factory. One is used to research and develop new technologies, and the other is used for assembly line production, occupying the largest area.
The dormitory area is used for rest and entertainment. The newly built school district is responsible for cultivating the new generation of ninjas and replenishing the organization with fresh blood.
There are also special areas for combat training and stockpiling weapons.
Shiraishi usually stays in the office area and scientific research area.
The corridors of the four-story building are connected to each other, and the open space surrounded by the middle is a large atrium square that can be directly illuminated by the sun.
The road surface is paved with flat and wear-resistant hard stone slabs, surrounded by flowers and trees, bringing natural freshness.
On the fourth floor in the middle, there is Shiraishi's office.
At this moment, Shiraishi is sitting in his office. The seats and bookshelves are neatly arranged. There are several flower pots on the balcony, which are placed outside to absorb the sunlight and will be sprinkled regularly.
Shiraishi is holding an earband-style radio communication device in his hand at the moment. This kind of device has also been seen by Shiraishi in Konoha Village. Turn on the switch to communicate with teammates, exchange information and tactics.
But because the distance is too long, communication cannot be carried out, so its role in actual combat is not particularly obvious.
The collection and timely exchange of information is crucial to strategy and tactics.
The radio communication device he is holding in his hand is the latest model developed by the scientific research department. It has better functions than those on the market, and the communication distance is also longer, which can reach about five kilometers.
At this distance, ordinary perception ninjas can reach this level when using perception ninjutsu.
If equipped, it will bring great advantages in the team battle.
There are also some other electronic tools, which are also slowly being modified and invented under the request of Shiraishi.
In Shiraishi’s view, the future era will definitely change, and the fighting style of ninjas must gradually adapt to the times, otherwise they will be abandoned by the times.
This is also the reason why Shiraishi asked to organize personnel to search for scientific research talents in the ninja world very early on.
The power of one person is extremely small and cannot advance the times. More talented people are needed to create.
At present, the number of scientific researchers recruited into the organization has reached dozens. I dare not say that they are top talents in every field, but the wisdom and strength they have assembled must not be underestimated.
Shiraishi put down the earband radio communicator, and walked to the side, where there were already many boxes full of books and scrolls, and many books and scrolls were covered with dust.
These things are the ancient materials transported back by the people sent by Bug Man. The Mount Myōboku incident reminded Shiraishi.
The power of the Three Great Sacred Lands is definitely not limited to the simple ability of Sage arts.
Shiraishi needs to find more intelligence and information to study the three holy places.
Shiraishi began to rummage through the box for what he needed.
These books and scrolls all record legends about Sages and Summoning beasts, but some of the recorded content is too nonsense, obviously some storybooks, not the information he wants.
"Huh? This is..."
Shiraishi took out a book from the bottom of the box. The paper of the book was a little yellow, with signs of being soaked in water, and some pages were very dry and hard.
The name of this book is "Toad Sage Hero Story".
The title of the book accurately mentioned toads and Sages, which forced Shiraishi to think of Mount Myōboku.
Shiraishi felt that there was a high probability that this book was what he was looking for.
After all, ordinary people would not put toads and Sages together.
Shiraishi couldn't wait to open it and look at it. At first, he watched it very carefully, but the more he looked down, the more he felt something was wrong, and his face became more and more stiff.
Until seeing the human protagonist who claims to be "Toad Sage" having an indescribable relationship with a big-breasted girl, the content is meticulous and bold, rich in emotion, which made Shiraishi think of the title of the book "The Heroes of Toad Sage", and his expression was slightly silent.
The content here, not to mention Mount Myōboku, is just about a human boy who claims to have the power of a toad, wanders the ninja world under the title of "Toad Sage", and has all kinds of exciting harem love stories with some women.
Simply put, it is a small H book.
It's too unprincipled.
A waste of his time and affection.
And the writing style is immature, Shiraishi can be sure that the author who wrote this book must not be more than twenty years old at the time.
Then quickly flip to the back, on the last page, there is a familiar signature—
Jiraiya.
Single book selling price: 200 Ryō.
“…No wonder there are toads and Sages.”
Shiraishi smiled helplessly.
Shiraishi knows a little about Jiraiya, one of the Sannin.
He is lustful and loves to create, but according to Tsunade, most of the things he writes are adult stories that are unpalatable and not suitable for underage children.
Shiraishi reluctantly put down the book, walked to another box, and began to flip through these books and scrolls.
Not long after, Shiraishi found an arm-length scroll tied with string.
I also noticed faint chakra fluctuations on it.
Curiously, Shiraishi spread out the scroll, on which were recorded the names of people written in blood, and under each name, red bloody fingerprints were pressed.
"This is the contract scroll of the Summoning beast."
Shiraishi recognized the origin of this scroll, and it was a contract scroll that could no longer sign the contract name.
The last grid is also signed with a person's name, indicating that it has been used up and is just a Summoning contract scroll for collection.
"However... It is really a luxurious surname, Uzumaki and the ninja of the Senju Clan have it. The closest ninja of the Senju Clan is also a person from more than three hundred years ago."
Shiraishi looked at the surnames of ninjas who signed their names. In addition to the Uchiha clan, there were those from the Uzumaki clan, the Senju clan, and the Hagoromo clan that perished in the Warring States Period. They were all once top wealthy ninja clans in the ninja world.
After hundreds of years, the contract scroll can be preserved so well, and the people who signed it were all wealthy ninjas among the ninja clan. Shiraishi feels that the origin of this Summoning scroll is not simple.
So, he continued to spread out the scroll until it was all spread out. At the beginning, Shiraishi saw a familiar title—Slug Sage of Shikkotsu Forest.
"Is it really the contract scroll of the three holy places? No wonder even the ninjas of Uzumaki and Senju rushed to sign on it."
As expected, before seeing the origin of the scroll, Shiraishi also felt that it was not a contract scroll from the Three Great Sacred Lands, but must be a family of Summoning beasts with a deep foundation.
"Unfortunately, the quota is already full, and there is no way to sign the contract on it."
Shiraishi regretfully prepared to close the contract scroll, and while scrolling, a flash of light suddenly flashed in his mind.
Wait, contract!
Shiraishi stopped scrolling the scroll and looked at the last vertical box in the signature column. The upper limit was signed by the name of a ninja from the Senju Clan, a ninja from the Senju Clan more than three hundred years ago.
On the name written in blood, a part of Chakra remains, and it is still functioning today.
"Sorry, I chose you for the experiment."
After Shiraishi finished speaking, he began to gather chakras, formed a seal with both hands, and finally slapped the name on the last frame with his right hand.
"Contract seal!"
From the palm of the hand, chakra visible to the naked eye flowed out, and the name of the ninja of the Senju family immediately became lighter in color, and finally the name and fingerprints written in blood all evaporated into the air and disappeared without a trace.
"This method is really feasible. In this way, the secrets of the three holy places can be quickly revealed."
Shiraishi showed a smile on his face, bit his finger, signed his name in the vacated vertical grid without hesitation, pressed the bloody fingerprint, and signed the contract with the slug in the Shikkotsu Forest.
Next, let’s call out the slug first, and ask some questions before talking.
Heading to places like Shikkotsu Forest rashly, Shiraishi is not sure how the slugs treat him, after all, there are Summoning beasts that have survived for more than a thousand years. It's better to be careful.
Slugs are summoned here. If the other party is dissatisfied with his cheating contract method, he can also take the initiative to cancel the contract.
After thinking about it, Shiraishi went to the courtyard outside, preparing to perform Summoning skills to summon the slugs from the Shikkotsu Forest.
Just as Shiraishi stood up, white smoke suddenly appeared around his body. When the smoke dissipated, Shiraishi's figure had disappeared in place.
About a minute later, someone knocked on the door and walked in.
The person who came in was Ruri. When she saw the empty office, she immediately frowned in dissatisfaction.
"Hey, isn't Shiraishi-kun here?"
Ayane's voice also appeared, and came in from the outside.
Like Ruri, she also saw the empty office with a puzzled expression.
When Ruri saw Ayane coming in, Ruri frowned even tighter. She thought that Shiraishi had gone to Ayane's place, but Ayane's current appearance also showed that Shiraishi was not with her.
"What is this? Contract Scroll?"
Ruri saw the huge scroll spread out on the ground, and on the last grid of the scroll, Shiraishi's name was signed.
Ayane opened her eyes and stared at the scroll seriously.
"His chakra remains in the blood-stained name, and it is indeed a scroll for signing a contract with a Summoning beast."
She sighed, obviously, the reason for Shiraishi's disappearance was related to this contract scroll.
-the other side.
Shiraishi came to a forest full of pale and gloomy. The thick white mist blocked the sight in front of him, and the visible range was very small.
Shiraishi looked around and saw blue and white slugs climbing on the ground and trees, with transparent mucus secreting from their mouthparts.
In the mucus, Shiraishi felt the natural energy.
In this space, the richness of the natural energy contained in the humid air surprised Shiraishi.
"Shikkotsu Forest? It really lives up to its name."
Shiraishi took a deep breath, knowing what his current situation was.
If the situation is not right then, call all the avatars to deal with it.
Furthermore, he did not feel the murderous intent and hostility of the slugs in this forest, so there should be no such thing as fighting.
According to the news that Tsunade once revealed accidentally, the slugs in the Shikkotsu Forest are Summoning beasts with a very gentle temper and are not keen on killing and fighting. Among the three holy places, it is the Summoning beast that most respects the will of the contractor.
Therefore, it is best to be able to negotiate peace.
Fighting with Summoning beasts over a thousand years old, to be honest, Shiraishi is not sure at all.
Not long after walking, Shiraishi stopped.
Because there is no way ahead.
A huge black shadow looms in the dense fog.
Shiraishi looked up, with a rare look of shock on his face.
Slugs!
A blue-and-white slug that I don't know what words to describe appeared in front of me alive.
To be more specific, even after entering the Sage art mode, the water avatar transformed into a huge python, in front of this slug, it is like a comparison between a baby and an adult.
The size gap is too big.
Just rolling the body can cause the ground to shake, and it can display the great power of S-rank destructive ninjutsu.
What's more, the natural energy and chakra reserves in the slug's body are as vast as the ocean.
no! If you fight, there is no chance of winning at all.
The opponent just squirmed her body, and he had to fight with all his strength.
The power gap is too large, and any conspiracy will be ineffective.
Shiraishi suppressed the shock in his heart, but kept calm on his face, showing no timidity.
The slug also exposed its huge head in the thick fog, and lowered its head to face Shiraishi.
The scene became eerily quiet.
