Once upon a time there was a ten-year-old boy named James. One day he went on a interdimensional journey with his two friends, Dirk and Jonathon. Their goal was to steal puppies from a pet shop. But something unusual happened and James and his friends got turned into puppies. Some time later his friends returned back to normal but when James became human he discovered that he was now a girl named Jenny. And even worse than that was the fact that nobody remembered that he had once been a boy. Very soon even he forgot that he had ever been a boy. At the same time that this was going on, strange things were happening to James' doppelgangers in alternate dimensions. Here is the story about one of his doppelganger on a parallel Earth.
It was late Saturday morning and James was busy getting dressed. Although he didn’t have to be at his Little League softball game for at least another hour, he still couldn’t wait to put on his baseball uniform. As he stood in front of his tall bedroom mirror buttoning up his shirt he suddenly heard the doorbell ring.
Knowing that he was the only one currently at home he headed out of his room and dashed down the stairs. Reaching the front door he opened it but he didn’t see anyone there. Then he looked down and he saw a cardboard box on the porch. Picking it up he noticed that it was addressed to him. The label had his name in big blue letters just above the address. Bringing it inside he wondered what it could be. It wasn’t time for his birthday and his mother didn’t tell him that she had ordered anything for him.
His mother had promised to drive him to his baseball game. She was due home at any moment and so he decided to wait for her before opening the package.
He brought the package up to his room and placed it on his bed. He went in front of the mirror and finished buttoning up his shirt. As he looked at his reflection he couldn’t help but notice the package on the bed behind him. He wondered what could be in it. He walked back to his bed and picked up the box to give it a closer look. Flipping it over he noticed a sticker on it that read “Open upon arrival.”
His curiosity got the better of him and he placed the box back on his bed before he started to open it. He was surprised to see blue and red fabric inside. Pulling it out he was able to see it better and that is when his heart began to beat faster when he realized what it was. As soon as he saw the red cape and the large red letter S emblem on the blue fabric he smiled and began to nod his head.
“Awesome! It’s a Superman costume. Superman is my all time favorite superhero.”
The one thing that James loved more than playing softball with his friends was reading Superman comics and watching his movies.
He couldn’t wait to try it on and he immediately placed it on his bed as he started to get undressed. As he took off his baseball uniform he placed it on the bed next to the costume. Once it was off he picked up the costume and began to put it on.
The costume was all in one piece and the only way into it was through a small opening in the back. First he placed his right foot in and then his left. After that he proceeded to pull it up. When he got it up to his chest he was able to slip his arms into the long blue sleeves. When he was done he zip it up in the back. Once it was on he couldn’t help but notice how snug it was against his body.
“I wonder if this is the right size, it feels kind of tight. It’s even a lot tighter than my baseball uniform.”
He walked over to his mirror and placed his hands on his waist and struck a heroic pose.
“Evil people beware! Superboy is here!”
He knew that he was too young to be Superman but he was also well aware about the character Superboy since he had read many of those comics too.
“I guess the costume has to be this snug. This is just how it looks on Superman and Superboy in the comics.”
As he smiled and looked at his reflection he felt very happy but he also felt an odd tingling sensation. It started in his fingers and toes and as he looked at his uniform it looked a little different. The long blue sleeves now only went down to his elbows and the long blue legs didn’t even go down to his knees. What was even stranger than that was that it seemed like the large letter S on his chest looked like it was starting to melt.
“That’s odd, I could have sworn my costume looked different just a minute ago. I’ve had some clothes shrink before after mom washed them but never when I was wearing them,” he said.
It was at that time when he noticed that the hair on his head was a little bit longer than it had been since he last looked at it.
“Gee, I guess I should ask mom to take me to get a haircut.”
Then he turned his head and looked around the room. The baseball poster that had always been over his bed was gone and in its place was a poster featuring a cute kitten.
“I don’t remember mom taking down my poster and putting that up there.”
He giggled a little and started to scratch his arms and legs as the tingling feeling moved up his body.
Looking back in the mirror he noticed a few more differences. Now the blue legs and arms of the costume were completely gone and his arms and legs were completely bare. And there appeared to be a lot more red on the costume and less blue than there had been before. It was almost like the red was creeping up the costume. Not only that but the S symbol had melted so much that it was just a sludgy red and yellow blob on his chest.
“This is so strange. What is happening to my costume? It looks more like a leotard or something. And the yellow belt isn’t even a belt anymore. It’s just a yellow design on the costume,” he said as he reached behind his back. “That’s funny, I don’t feel a zipper back there anymore”
He turned and looked at his tall bureau. The top drawer that his socks were kept in was now at eye level.
“That’s weird. I used to be able to see what was on top of the bureau. Why does it look taller? Have I gotten smaller?”
As he turned around and looked at his room some more he was surprised to see that all of his action figures that he had on some nearby shelves were all gone. In their place he saw several rows of female dolls and a variety of plushies.
“What happened to all my action figures? Did mom replace them with this stuff?”
As he looked back in the mirror he was surprised at how long and full his hair was now. He raised his hand and touched the back of it which now came down to his shoulders.
“Gee, just look at all that hair. I hope the guys on the team don’t tease me about how long it is.”
The tingly feeling grew a little stronger and he started to giggle again. As he looked down at his costume he saw that the top part which had once been blue was now red and the red briefs were now turning blue. He was even more surprised when he saw what appeared to be a very short little blue skirt that was popping out just below the band of yellow.
“A skirt? Now this costume is beginning to look more like a girl’s swimsuit. Why does it keep changing like this?”
Looking around the room he noticed some more things that seemed different. The walls which had always been a nice shade of blue were now a light pink. He was so perplexed by this that he reached up and started to scratch the back of his head. As he did this he couldn’t get over how thick his hair felt. Looking at the mirror he was amazed to see that his hair was even longer and fuller than before.
“Why is my hair growing like this? It’s starting to cover my ears. And are those little streaks of pink in my hair? How did those get there?”
By now the tingly feeling was now all over his body and he scratched himself in many different places.
When he looked back in the mirror his hair had grown a little longer and the pink streaks had became a lot more noticeable.
The uniform had finally stopped changing and now the blobby emblem on the chest was better defined and it was a large letter W in the shape of a bird. At that moment the tingly feeling finally reached his head and he started to feel a little funny.
“What the heck! Is that me?” he asked in disbelief as he stared at his reflection in the mirror. “With this long hair and this cute swimsuit I look a lot like a girl.”
He shook his head for a few seconds.
“Wait, did I just say that this was a cute swimsuit? Why did I say that?”
He looked a little longer at his reflection and he started to smile.
“I guess it is pretty cute. And I really like how pretty I look in it.”
He shook his head a little bit harder.
“Pretty? Why am I thinking about being pretty? This isn’t like me.”
As he continued to stare at his reflection he felt a very odd sensation in his crotch and as he reached down to touch it with his hand he couldn’t feel his boy parts anywhere. It was strangely smooth down there. As he pressed a little harder he could finally feel something. But it wasn’t a boy part, it was a girl part.
“What’s going on? Why am I feeling a girl part down there?”
Then he turned his head and he noticed a lot more changes to his room. The light pink walls were now a very bright shade of pink. The other baseball posters on his walls were gone and in their place were ones with cute animals and ballerinas. His wooden toy chest had also disappeared and now in its place was a large doll house and lots of girl dolls.
Looking inside his closet he saw that all of his boy clothes were gone and now it was filled with various colorful dresses and leggings and other girl clothes.
“What’s happened to my room?” he said in a slightly higher voice. He placed his hand up to his throat. “Oh no, not only do I look like a girl but I sound like one too. I wonder… wonder… wonder…”
As he looked at his reflection the tingly feeling grew stronger in his head and he started to forget things as new thoughts and memories began to pour into his mind. All memories that he had of being a boy were now gone and in their place were new ones. Ones where he was a cute girl that loved to dance and look pretty.
The last thing in the room to change was a banner that had his name on it. Just a few seconds ago the banner had the name James in dark blue letters but now it had the name Jenny in colorful letters.
With her new girl persona firmly implanted in her mind Jenny began to smile as she looked at her reflection in the mirror. She couldn’t remember what had caused her to be so upset just a few moments ago.
“Wonder… wonder… oh I really love my new Wonder Woman swimsuit. Wonder Woman is my favorite superhero. I can’t wait to go out dressed as Wonder Girl for Halloween.”
Suddenly there was a knock on the bedroom door and a few seconds later her mother entered the room. Her mother seemed momentarily surprised as she looked at her son’s room.
“James, what happened to your….”
She stopped mid sentence as the magic in the room hit her and her memories of her son disappeared and were replaced with new ones of her daughter.
“Oh, Jenny, why aren’t you dressed for ballet? You know that mommy is supposed to drive you there in a little while. You didn’t forget did you?”
The magic started to pour out of the room and everywhere it went it removed any signs of James’s existence and replaced them with ones of Jenny. Photos of James on the wall suddenly disappeared and were replaced with ones of Jenny. As the magic poured out of the house it began to affect all the other inhabitants of the town until very soon none of them remembered that James ever existed. As far as everyone was concerned, Jenny had always lived in the house with her mother.
Jenny was unaware that any of this was happening. She shook her head and continued to smile. Then she looked at her bed and saw the small brown box next to her ballet clothes.
“No Momma, I haven’t forgotten about ballet. I was just trying on the new Wonder Woman swimsuit that came in the mail for me today.”
As she picked up the box she had a vague memory of it being larger. But she wasn’t sure why they would need to send such a small swimsuit in a larger box. She pointed to the label.
“You see, it’s got my name Jenny in pretty pink letters.”
“Hmm, maybe someone in the family sent it to you as a belated present. Everyone in the family knows how much you love Wonder Woman. Now hurry up and get changed. You don’t want t miss your ballet lesson.”
She kissed her daughter on the cheek and gave one last look around the room.
“It’s funny, when I first walked in here I thought something was different but now I see that it looks like it always has.”
As Jenny took off her swimsuit she placed it very carefully on a nearby chair.
“I really love my new swimsuit but why do I feel like it should look different?”
She held out her arms and twirled around a few times.
“La, la, la, la, la. I can’t wait for ballet. I love ballet just as much as I love looking pretty.”
She then proceeded to put on her white tights and then her pink leotard. She had memories of doing this many times over the past few years. As she got dressed she couldn’t wait to see the other girls in her ballet class and tell them about the cute new swimsuit that she just received.
A short time later Jenny was looking out of the car as her mother drove her to ballet. She didn’t know why but she felt a little sad as they drove past a group of boys play softball on a field.
“Do you see all those boys playing out there momma? Some of them look real cute in their costumes.”
“Those aren’t costumes Jenny, they are called uniforms,” her mother corrected.
“Oh, well they still look cute in them. I think one of the boys in my class really likes me. His name is Dirk. I think he wants me to be his girlfriend.”
Her mother smiled and chuckled.
“That’s nice dear. But before you have a boyfriend I need to talk to you a little bit about boys. There’s a lot you don’t know about them.”
As her mother continued to drive her to her ballet lesson, Jenny continued to smile as she thought about having a boyfriend. She felt like she was the luckiest girl on the planet and she was very happy with her life.

A very cute story. I like the transformation of James into Jenny. I bet he's much happier now as Jenny than he was as James. I also like the concept that his transformation into a girl is happening to him and all the other James' on parallel Earths. I wonder what could be causing that to happen. I'm very excited to read more. I'm surprised that there aren't any other comments yet about it.
