Summary: James gets transformed into Jenny. (One possible explanation.)
The three boys were excited as they started up Dirk’s interdimensional machine and headed for another world. But so far this world didn’t seem too different from their own. The air was filled with the fragrance of all the nearby fields of flowers. Dirk and Jonathan started to run around but James was having a hard time keeping up.
"Guys slow down! I can't keep up,” James moaned.
Jonathan and Dirk both slowed down and turned around to see James panting, low on stamina, struggling to catch up with them.
"Wow James, why are you whining? Don't be such a girl" Jonathan called out
"I--I'm not a…"
Just as he was about to catch up with them he tripped over a small wooden sign and fell down into a big patch of sweet smelling pink flowers.
As the two boys walked over to him they looked at the now broken sign.
“Looks like you tripped on this sign,” Jonathon pointed out. “I don’t know what it says. It seems to be written in a language I’ve never seen before.”
“That’s not unusual,” Dirk replied. “You can’t expect every dimension to speak English. It’s probably some kind of warning like, don’t step on the flowers.”
"Ouch!” James cried out. “I really hurt myself.”
"Oh don’t be such a crybaby. You've always been pretty clumsy like a little girl," Dirk said with a grin as he leaned down to help James up.
As James stood up he kicked at the flowers and some of the pollen began to float up.
‘Achoo!” he sneezed as some of the pollen hit his nose. “Stupid flowers. And I’m not clumsy! And I’m not a girl!”
"Oh really? Then why are you wearing a skirt!" Jonathan sneered.
"What? No I'm not! I'm wearing shorts!"
But as James looked down he found that the denim shorts he arrived in had now been transformed into a short denim skirt.
Both Jonathan and Dirk snickered as Dirk tried to hold back his laughter
"What’s going on!" James shouted as he grabbed at the cute skirt. He couldn’t understand what had happened to his shorts and where this skirt had come from. He smiled a little as his fingers touched the soft denim fabric.
"It's okay James it kind of suits you," Dirk said.
"Yeah everyone back home always talks about how you're so pretty for a boy," Jonathan said, singing out the last part slightly and dramatically.
"No, they call me a pretty boy! That's different. And I'm not wearing this skirt!"
James aggressively ripped off the skirt and threw it to the ground.
"So you're going to run around in your underwear?” Dirk asked. “The skirt isn't so bad put it back on James.”
"No! See, I'm wearing boy underwear, I'm a boy,” James shouted as he stomped on the skirt. He was unaware that his hair grew longer with each stomp.
"Whoa, calm down James, look what's going on with your hair!" Dirk said as he ran over to grab at James' growing locks.
They both watched in awe as James' hair grew longer and longer until it was shoulder length. It also seemed to grow shinier and softer with each inch that it grew.
James couldn't believe it. He yanked his hair thinking maybe the world had given him some sort of wig but he felt pain with every tug.
"Ouch! What’s going on? Guys, why is my hair getting longer?" James asked in a panic.
Jonathan and Dirk merely shrugged and didn’t seem to be too concerned about the changes happening to their friend.
“There has to be a way to turn this around,” James said as he tried to calm down and figure out what was going on. “We used Dirk's machine to get here maybe the machine caused it? That's right, there has to be some sort of scientific explanation. Sci… Sci… Science?”
He started to scratch his head as a faint pink haze began to enter his mind.
“What's science? I hate science, I like playing with my dolls, my pretty dollies--WAIT NO…”
Dirk and Jonathan watched as James' expression changed from one of deep thought, to a dumb smile and then finally to one of despair but they also noticed his shirt. His red T-shirt that he came to this new world in was slowly drained of its color. Its sleeves slowly began to disappear and frills began to appear at all edges of the shirt.
"Uh—James," Dirk called out.
"I--I'M NOT A GIRL, I DON’T LIKE DOLLS!" James shouted.
"James dude calm down, your shirt!"
As James looked down the finishing touches happened and his T-shirt made the final change into a light pink camisole with a heart on the front of it.
"NO! I'm not a--ooooh my shirt it is so pretty…" he said as the faint pink haze grew a little stronger.
Both Jonathan and Dirk were shocked by the sudden switch from anger to utter adoration of the girlish garment.
"Pink is my favorite color! Oh no, guys where's my skirt? You guys can't see me in my undies. Close your eyes!" James said sticking his tongue out at Dirk as he tried to cover his underwear with his hands,
Dirk blushed and covered his eyes while Jonathan doubled over with laughter.
James quickly snapped out of whatever pink haze he was in and noticed that his hair had grown just a tiny bit longer. He wasn't sure what was going on but he knew the girl clothing had something to do with it.
He seized the opportunity of being himself and quickly tore off the shirt and threw it to the ground.
"Whoa calm down Jenny," Jonathan said unaware of the name that he had just called his friend.
"Guys you don't get it--I keep forgetting things--everything! It's like I don't remember…who or what I…"
James prattled on trying to explain the strange occurrence but Jonathan and Dirk were too distracted by his underwear. It began to shimmer and glow. The white slowly turned pink and the red piping/trimming slowly disappeared and hearts appeared in their place. James' hair continued to grow longer and longer now beginning to reach his back. His eyelashes--already long grew even longer. His eyebrows thinned out slightly and any semblance of boyish muscle he had on his body began to be replaced with just a subtle amount of baby fat making his hips a tad bit wider.
"Guys what are you looking at?" he asked.
"Dude why are you wearing panties?" Jonathan asked pulling out the waistband and letting it snap against James' waist.
Dirk quickly coming to the realization of the situation stood there in awe.
"Oh no!" James exclaimed.
James didn't know what to do. If he removed the panties he would be naked! But he didn't want to become a girl! Would he rather be humiliated or become a flower picking pink loving girly girl.
He made up his mind but right as he reached for the panties his thoughts got muddled as the pink haze began to cloud his mind stronger than before.
“Why am I reaching for my panties again?” he asked as he spotted Jonathan snickering at him and Dirk blushing and turning away slightly.
"Oh my gosh I'm almost naked! Don't look at me you naughty boys," James shrieked, immediately covering his chest even though there was really nothing there to cover.
The loud shriek quickly caused both boys to comply. They quickly cooperated and turned around abruptly while James picked up the camisole and skirt and put them on.
He was so concerned about getting dressed that he failed to notice his boyhood disappear and getting replaced by a cute little girl part. As he finished turning into a girl the pink haze completely filled her mind and her thoughts began to fill with images of pretty clothes, dancing ballet and lots of cute little dolls to play with.
"What's going on with James?"
"I’m not James, I’m Jenny,” she said with a cute little giggle as all memory of her boy existence completely left her mind. As far as she and her friends were concerned she was a pretty girl and that is what she had always been since the day she was born. And she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Loved this! Gradual TF are the best and reading how James slowly changed his tastes and his preferences was so nice! The devil is in the details, and in that story there were a lot of interesting details!
