🕑 Added 2025-07-23 15:55:10 +0000 UTCAn initial image of pencil sketch on a full sheet, normally used for a 4-panel comic. This time I just use the top half. If making a 2-panel comic I typically just use the top half of a 4-panel page.
The pencil-ink hybrid, that "intermediate" phase that frequently incorporates a lot of change. Not so much this time, though, although I did make a nice background mess for me to clean up.
With the pencil backgrounds eliminated, it is off to the clean-up phase.
Background fence erased as needed, now to start incorporating the details and minor line clean-up. Obviously, they are getting ready to do some PT (physical training).
The Army PT uniforms are black, but of course it is best to use some sort of background color and then add the black in using the Lasso tool. Making everything completely black would be really hard on the eyes.
....aaannd here we have the final image, with the "grass" brush tool used (it came stock with PhotoShop, at least at the time) and the rest of the details. The most painstaking part of this was actually the criss-cross etching lines of the fence behind everyone. You can barely see it, but it looked so wrong to not have it there at the same time. Weird.
