I want a playable merfolk D&D race (so I made one)
🕑 Added 2024-07-01 18:40:26 +0000 UTCHI FRIENDS! I know I usually release videos on Wednesdays, but since Kraken Week kicks off today, Pointy Hat and I both rushed our videos to have them out on day one! And by rushed, I mean... rushed. This turned out to be a very big edit, and to be honest, I wish I had another day to polish it (mostly just because I have fun clips and graphics I'd have loved to add!) So I'm sorry to once again not be able to give you guys early access. I literally exported this... less than half an hour ago π
But I'm still very proud of what we put together and I hope you like it β I'll be laying out my merfolk race as a full-on PDF for y'all later this week.
I hope you guys enjoy Kraken Week! If you follow other TTRPG creators, you'll be seeing their videos starting to go up today, too. Make sure to check out the playlist, linked in the description, and show some of our smaller creators some love if you get a chance!

It is quite the cool coincidence (or _is_ it :-) ) that Undertow is gracing your July calendar picture... Neat!

Thatβs my secret, cap. The pun is always intended π

when people say things about mermaid, you get "salty?" please tell me that was on purpose (porpoise?)

for the manly merfolk, how about the sharkman from the movie Cabin Boy? Or King Shark. everyone loves King Shark.

So, howβd the wheelbarrow full of water in your house go?

Looking forward to watching this one later! Though I have to ask, was it intentional or just a happy coincidence that this came out on the first day of the month in the 2024 calendar that features Undertow?
Ginny Di
That isn't something I address in this video, but I think it's a great idea!

It's an open-invite event, so anybody can do anything they like! But we have an official Kraken Week playlist on YouTube, so of course only YouTube videos can be placed on there.

As a guy, that third one actually seemed like one I could see myself playing: Thinking Aquaman but your take on it!

I love this video and it's definitely not just because we get snarky Undertow (honest). I've missed her. I'm excited to see all the cool Kraken week content π

Oh My Gosh Ginny! That was super-fun! Great concept and you had me laughing throughout.

I apologize because I haven't had a chance to watch the full video yet (so you may have mentioned this), but since wheelchairs are a thing in D&D why should we need merfolk to have a leg option? I say keep the tail!

π€© awesome merfolk video, really liking the concept of using them differently from their folklore origins. Plus, Undertow makes a fun moody foil to DM Ginny. Besides, Undertow appearance is a giant bonus anyway, and during her Calendar month too.

Hey, a deep dive into merfolk. That'll make a splash :) great video... Is Kraken week only for YouTubers? Or can one set sail and join with a nice map or watery story? Just floating the idea ;)
