~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Book Collection Pavilion on the Main Peak is divided into two sections: an outer and an inner. The outer Book Collection Pavilion is open to all disciples of Spirit Medicine Peak, and even allows disciples to copy texts freely. In the past, when He Wude descended the mountain, the large collection of secret manuals he carried were all copied from here. Had he not possessed these secret manuals, He Family Village could not have developed so smoothly. At the very least, the members of the second and third generations of He Family Village would not have had so many martial arts techniques to choose from and cultivate.
The inner Book Collection Pavilion on the Main Peak, however, is not accessible to ordinary disciples. This is a reading room specifically prepared for the elders, and only elders have the privilege of entering and exiting at will. At this moment, the four elders and the Supreme Elder of Hengshan Mountain are all gathered here.
He Yiming held a secret manual in his hand, his eyes faintly glowing, seemingly deeply attracted by its contents. Yu Jinglei and the others sat to one side, their expressions quite solemn, and their gazes towards He Yiming held a mix of anticipation and eagerness. However, when He Yiming's attention was focused on the manual, no one spoke to disturb him.
Finally, He Yiming turned to the last page of the manual. He slowly closed it, closed his eyes in thought for a moment, and then sighed deeply, saying, "Excellent, these cultivation methods are truly exceptional. They truly live up to the name of our sect's predecessors, to have even conceived of such methods."
Yu Jinglei and the others were slightly taken aback. They exchanged glances, then Yu Jinglei asked in a deep voice, "Elder He, did you understand it?"
He Yiming casually patted the manual in his hand, and retorted playfully, "It's all explained so clearly on it. If I still couldn't understand it, wouldn't I be an idiot?"
Yu Jinglei and the others' faces simultaneously flushed a faint red. However, each of them was over a hundred years old, and Yu Jinglei himself was over two hundred. Their thick skin, though perhaps not as thick as a city wall, was certainly close. So they merely flushed, then acted as if nothing had happened.
Clearing his throat, Yu Jinglei said, "Elder He, understanding the content is one thing, but achieving it is another. Do you have the confidence to do it?"
He Yiming lowered his head, looking at the manual in his hand, and a confident smile appeared on his face. Since he formally became an Innate Elder of the Hengshan Mountain lineage before the Ancestral Hall, the inner Book Collection Pavilion of Hengshan Mountain had been opened to him. However, just as He Yiming had entered, Yu Jinglei and the others came in together and handed him a secret manual.
This manual recorded many secrets of cultivation method transformation. It was not just about the transformation between two specific cultivation methods, but rather recorded the key points for transformation between all mutually-generating cultivation methods within the basic Five Elements. Wood Generating Fire, Fire Generating Earth, Earth Generating Metal, Metal-Water Intergeneration, and Water Generating Wood. Within the Five Elements, the key points for the transformation between these five mutually-generating cultivation methods were all included.
After seeing this cultivation method, He Yiming indeed benefited greatly. Although he also cultivated all Five Elements and experienced no hindrance in the transformation between each cultivation method, when he saw some of the key points recorded on it, he was still touched. If this were not the sacred ground of the Book Collection Pavilion, and if there weren't four Innate powerhouses standing by, observing intently, he might have tried it on the spot.
At this moment, when he heard Yu Jinglei ask if he could achieve these various transformations, he couldn't help but smile proudly, saying, "Uncle, please rest assured. As long as you give this nephew a few days to practice, mastering these cultivation methods should not be a problem."
Yu Jinglei and the others exchanged glances. A moment later, Medicine Daoist said, "Elder He, do you know what these cultivation methods are for?"
He Yiming was slightly taken aback. He hesitated for a moment, then a thought suddenly flashed through his mind, and he blurted out, "Cultivation methods inter-promoting, advancing to Innate?"
Medicine Daoist clapped his hands and said, "Indeed, Elder He is absolutely right. Among our hidden sects, there are similar secret texts. Every Innate Elder who has advanced through their own efforts using Mutually Generating Dual System Art will learn and master its key points."
He Yiming immediately recalled Xie Zhien's request to him in the past, and instantly understood. He said, "Once these key points of the cultivation methods are mastered, can one then protect the next generation when they advance?"
A smile appeared on Medicine Daoist's face. He Yiming was indeed exceptionally intelligent, understanding the mystery in just a few words.
Yu Jinglei laughed heartily and said, "Elder He, actually, this matter is no secret among all the hidden sects. And the reason why our sects have flourished for so long, with more than one Innate Elder presiding over each generation, is precisely because of this."
After Yu Jinglei and the others' explanation, He Yiming finally understood some of the inside story. Among the many disciples of hidden sects, each generation would see a considerable number of Acquired Stage Tenth Level of Inner Strength peak experts emerge. Among these disciples, almost every generation would have a few with dual-system inter-promoting Inner Energy. These disciples were priceless treasures of the sect, and they were also the younger candidates who hoped to advance to Innate Elder in the future.
However, even though they were all dual-system inter-promoting Inner Energy cultivators at the Tenth Level of Inner Strength peak, becoming an Innate powerhouse was still not an easy task. If they relied solely on their own efforts, then truly only one in ten would ultimately reach the Innate realm through the dual-system inter-promoting method. Through the research of generations of powerhouses in the sect, countless experiences in this regard have been left behind, which eventually formed a tradition. That is, once such a disciple appeared, and among the current elders of the sect, there was also an elder whose cultivation method attribute perfectly matched that of the disciple, then these elders had the obligation to strengthen the meridians and protect this disciple during their breakthrough. It is precisely because of this reason that hidden sects have always had several Innate powerhouses in each generation, never having a break.
After explaining, Yu Jinglei sighed, "Elder Yao's Wood-Fire Dual Cultivation, this old man and Elder Lian Yi are both Water-Wood Dual Cultivation. As for..." He paused, his gaze sweeping over Yu Xichen's face, then he shook his head, no longer commenting.
Yu Xichen's face flushed slightly. "Elder He, what I cultivate is Earth Element Cultivation Technique. I only advanced to Innate by relying on the Innate Golden Pill. It's really not worth mentioning."
He Yiming quickly shook his head, offering a few words of comfort. However, from the expressions of the others, he vaguely sensed that elders who achieved Innate by swallowing Golden Pills seemed to feel a bit inferior to those who advanced by Mutually Generating Dual System Cultivation.
Yu Jinglei continued, "Among the younger generation of our Hengshan Mountain, there is indeed a Metal-Water Inner Strength Dual Cultivation genius cultivator who has reached the tenth layer peak. He is Lu Zhengyi from Spirit Jade Peak, only..." He paused, glanced at He Yiming, and a strange look appeared on his face, "He is already sixty-six years old this year, and reached the dual-system tenth layer peak three years ago. However, he failed in two consecutive attempts to break through to Innate."
Originally, given Yu Jinglei's age, a sixty-six-year-old Lu Zhengyi was no different from a twenty or thirty-year-old in his eyes. But after glancing at He Yiming, he simply couldn't bring himself to say "only" when referring to Lu Zhengyi's age. If sixty-six was "only", then how should the seventeen-year-old He Yiming be described?
Medicine Daoist smiled and interjected, "Although Zhengyi failed in his two attempts, that was because no one was there to protect him, which prevented him from fully pushing his limits. If someone could protect him, then his chances of successfully advancing to Innate would be much greater." Saying this, Medicine Daoist looked at He Yiming with a smile, the expectation in his eyes was clear even to a fool.
He Yiming gave a wry smile. He finally understood why Medicine Daoist and Yu Jinglei were so excited when they learned he was a Quad-Elemental Cultivation in the Basic Five Elements, and why their attitude towards him was significantly more respectful than towards an ordinary elder. He had originally thought it was due to a shortage of talent within Hengshan Mountain, but now he realized that his existence actually had such a powerful effect on the sect.
His heart stirred, and he said, "Among so many disciples in Hengshan Mountain, is there only one who meets the criteria?"
Medicine Daoist and the others were startled, and their gazes turned towards Yu Xichen. After a moment of contemplation, Yu Xichen said, "Besides Lu Zhengyi, there's also Che Wenjun on Thumb Peak. He also has dual Inner Energy cultivation, and he's over forty years old. However, his dual system cultivation is currently only at the Ninth Layer, so he still has a long way to go before reaching the tenth layer peak. And even if he reaches the dual-system tenth layer peak, the possibility of him successfully breaking through won't exceed one in ten."
He Yiming was greatly surprised and asked, "Why?"
Yu Xichen said helplessly, "Che Wenjun cultivates the Earth-Metal Cultivation Method, which is widely recognized as the most difficult mutually-generating cultivation method in the Basic Five Elements to break through to the Innate Realm. If an elder were to strengthen his meridians and allow him to push for Innate without worries, then there would be a fifty percent chance of success. But if he relies solely on his own strength, then…" He shook his head, "The hope is slim."
He Yiming mentally calculated. Among over two thousand people, there were two disciples with such high talent. This was much better than Taicang County. But then he immediately understood. This was a hidden sect, and its disciples had received such care since birth, so how could it be compared to the outside world? If everyone in Tianluo Country had such conditions, then the number of Mutually Generating Dual System Cultivation disciples born would definitely far exceed that of the Hengshan Mountain lineage. But in reality, this was simply impossible. Even those born with such talent would, in ordinary environments, mostly fade into obscurity. This was fate; each person's fate differed, determining their ultimate achievements.
Suddenly, He Yiming felt eight burning gazes converge on him. After a moment of surprise, He Yiming gave a wry smile and, very consciously, said, "Elders, when Hengshan Mountain disciples attempt to break through to the Innate Realm in the future, I am also willing to contribute my humble efforts."
Yu Jinglei and the others finally revealed satisfied smiles. However, Yu Jinglei's expression became stern. "Elder He, although we all know your strength and your extraordinary achievements in the Metal and Water elements, and that your True Qi transformation has reached the point of being completely at will, the key points in this secret manual are the experiences summarized by generations of elders in our sect through arduous efforts. You should first cultivate for a few years, completely master the contents, and then protect Lu Zhengyi."
Medicine Daoist sighed, "Uncle is absolutely right. I'm not afraid to make Elder He laugh, but it took this old man a full twenty years to completely master the techniques within. But unfortunately, in this Sixty-Year Cycle, our sect has not had any Wood-Fire Dual Cultivation Tenth Layer peak disciples, making this old man's hard work go to waste."
He Yiming's gaze swept over the others, and he saw similar expressions on all their faces. His heart was filled with intense doubt. Although the key points described in this book were miraculous, in his eyes, they were not complicated. Why did Medicine Daoist and the others need so long to master them? His heart stirred, and he suddenly understood that this must be related to his special physique.
With a slight smile, he extended his hands. Everyone was simultaneously taken aback, not understanding what he intended to do. However, their expressions changed the next moment, becoming one of shock and astonishment. He Yiming's hands remained still before their eyes, seemingly unmoving. Yet, these Innate powerhouses sensed the powerful True Qi circulating within those hands. Water Element True Qi, Metal Element True Qi – these two types of True Qi alternated on his hands. Sometimes the left hand was Metal and the right hand Water, sometimes it was the opposite, sometimes they were mixed together, and sometimes they all transformed into a single type of True Qi, only to be converted back again.
In just a few breaths, these two True Qi had changed dozens of times on his hands. Despite such drastic changes, He Yiming remained seated, smiling, his hands unchanged, and the True Qi within his body circulated freely, without the slightest hindrance or pause.
A moment later, He Yiming withdrew his hands, picked up the teacup beside him, and took a refreshing sip. When he looked up and saw the expressions of Yu Jinglei and the others, he was slightly startled. The four of them were still wide-eyed, as if they didn't recognize him, their gazes carrying an indescribable strangeness. If He Yiming hadn't clearly sensed that these people held no ill will towards him, he would have probably fled in panic.
Yu Jinglei finally let out a long sigh of relief. "A genius, a true genius."
Lian Yi also nodded in agreement. "Indeed, in over a hundred years, this old man has never seen anyone with such exquisite mastery over the Metal and Water elements. Elder He's cultivation of these two cultivation methods is infinitely close to the primordial power." His eyes glowed faintly. "Elder He, this old man suggests you abandon the cultivation of the Wood and Fire elements in the future and focus solely on the Metal and Water elements. I believe that as long as you continue to cultivate, one day you will surely break through the Hundred Scattered Heavens Realm and achieve the Single-Line Sky Realm."
Medicine Daoist shivered, and hastily said, "That's not appropriate, not appropriate. Although Elder He also has great talent in the Metal and Water elements, the Wood and Fire elements are equally so. I think it's better to stick to the Fire and Wood elements. As for the Metal and Water elements..." He paused, recalling what he had just witnessed, that kind of effortless transformation, which had truly shocked him greatly. So, the words he wanted to say to persuade him to give up immediately became impossible to utter.
Lian Yi frowned, displeased. "Elder Yao, I know you want Elder He to inherit your Spirit Medicine Peak, but you've also seen Elder He's talent in the Metal and Water elements. Are you still going to disregard the bigger picture and insist on your own opinion?"
Medicine Daoist's face flushed crimson. "Elder Lian, I assure you, Elder He's talent in the Wood and Fire elements will absolutely not be inferior to his talent in the Metal and Water elements in the slightest. If these words are false, let this old man be struck by five bolts of thunder and die a horrible death."
Lian Yi and the others' gazes once again showed a hint of blankness. That incredible look reappeared in their eyes as they looked at He Yiming.
He Yiming's skin was not as thick as these old monsters who had lived for over a hundred years. He gave an awkward smile and said, "Everyone, I have already decided on my future cultivation path, so please do not bring it up again."
Yu Jinglei and the others nodded in succession. Even if their curiosity was ten times stronger, once He Yiming made his decision, they could only swallow their curiosity.
He Yiming put away the secret manual in his hand and said loudly, "Elder Yu, when does Lu Zhengyi plan to attempt to break through to the Innate Realm? If it's within this month, I'd be very willing to strengthen his meridians and protect him."
After spending this time together, He Yiming had learned that while Yu Xichen's martial arts cultivation was the lowest in Hengshan Mountain, he was still the elder responsible for handling daily affairs on the Main Peak. As for Medicine Daoist, he focused entirely on alchemy, while Yu Jinglei and Lian Yi diligently cultivated their martial arts. They simply didn't pay attention to trivial matters. Therefore, for arranging such matters, he could only consult Yu Xichen.
Yu Xichen pondered for a moment, then said, "Since Elder He is so generous, then let's set it for ten days from now."
He Yiming nodded indifferently. He asked in surprise, "Elder Yu, are you so certain? It might not be enough time for Lu Zhengyi to adjust his mindset in just ten days." Indeed, not everyone had his physique, and Lu Zhengyi also had the lingering shadow of two failed attempts at breaking through to Innate. Ten days might not be enough for him to adjust his state to the best.
Yu Xichen smiled faintly and said, "Elder He, your willingness to help is already a huge blessing for him. If he can't adjust his mindset within ten days, it means his cultivation is insufficient, and he won't get another chance like this within five years."
He Yiming nodded silently. In his heart, he was actually eager to try. He vaguely felt that this was a rare opportunity for Lu Zhengyi, but it was also a new experience for himself. Reviewing the old to learn the new, this was not just true in literature, but also in martial arts. He still vividly remembered the moment he broke through to the Innate Realm. He vaguely had a trace of anticipation, wondering if he could re-experience that feeling when helping others break through...
