Chapter 23 Assault Team
🕑 Added 2024-06-01 16:32:29 +0000 UTCIs it outrageous not to know how to drive?
Arthur can't drive. His parents can't drive, there's no car at home, and the economic situation doesn't allow for buying a car in the short term. So, isn't it normal for him not to know how to drive?
But from the looks of Frank and the others, it seemed like not knowing how to drive was as ridiculous as not knowing how to walk.
Rubber drove, Arthur sat in the passenger seat, and the car had already driven quite far, but the topic still lingered on his inability to drive.
Finally, Frank and the others fell silent, because they were nearing Juan's house.
The car slowed down as it passed by a snow-white house.
Black iron gates, black iron railings, vines climbing on the nearly three-meter-high fence, some with flowers.
The yard lights weren't very bright, but the house lights were on. Several cars were parked in the yard, and there were long lines of cars parked on the street in front, taking up half of the not-very-wide driveway.
"There are twelve cars parked outside, and there are quite a few people inside."
"The fence is three meters high and made of railings, not easy to breach."
"There are cameras on the gate, and the iron gate is controlled automatically. His security system is very advanced."
The car maintained a steady speed, allowing them to observe the situation, and then Frank began to discuss. After a brief discussion, Frank concluded, "It's not easy."
After driving a mile or two away from Juan's house, Rubber stopped the car on the side of the road, turned off the headlights, and said in a low voice, "We don't know the internal structure of the house or the defense arrangements inside. Attacking directly basically means sending ourselves to death."
John liked to play devil's advocate with Rubber, but this time he remained silent. After a moment, he said, "Yes, a direct assault is too dangerous. Let's use a rocket launcher. The drug dealers in Tijuana like to use guns in their fights, they rarely use rocket launchers."
Arthur didn't have much to say. As a pure newcomer, although he had some quick wits, he had no say in battlefield assessments that required rich experience.
The decision was in Frank's hands. After thinking for a moment, he nodded and said, "A direct assault is too dangerous. Let's use the rocket launcher. After the strike, assess the situation. If there's an opportunity, move quickly; if not, retreat immediately."
Arthur couldn't help but ask, "Do we have a rocket launcher? How many?"
"Four. Can you use it?"
Arthur was amazed. It was his first time participating in an operation, and he would be using a rocket launcher in real combat.
Frank was still waiting for Arthur's answer, and he urged, "Can you use it? You know how to use guns, so you should be fine with a rocket launcher, right?"
"What rocket launcher?"
"M72. There are two types of rockets, the M72E9 is an armor-piercing warhead, and the M72E10 is a delayed high-explosive warhead. Do you understand what that means?"
Arthur subconsciously nodded, and then Frank immediately said, "Ah, he does understand. He may not know how to drive, but he knows how to use a rocket launcher. Kid, did you grow up in China and not Afghanistan?"
Arthur was nervous. He whispered, "But I've never used one. Let me think, let me think. There are very few instructional videos on rocket launchers, and I've watched even fewer. But I know what to do. Uh, I've used a rocket launcher in Call of Duty."
Frank was stunned. "What? You've used it?"
John immediately said, "It's just a game. Okay, since he can use it, let's get started. How do we proceed?"
"Use two E10s first, then assess the situation. Use two more E9s where resistance is strong. Brothers, this is a small scene. Let these drug dealers see how real warfare is done."
At this point, Arthur couldn't help but ask, "Do we have to attack? Isn't it a bit hasty?"
"We are the most professional offensive team, kid. This is what we are best at." Frank said confidently, then added, "Get ready. Rubber and the Kid change clothes. I'll call Joe."
Arthur and Rubber got out of the car. Arthur put on the bulletproof vest again, and this time, Rubber helped him put on the tactical vest.
"Do you know how to use night vision goggles? Have you used them before?"
"I don't know, and I've never used them."
Rubber turned on the night vision goggles on the helmet and directly placed them on Arthur's head, saying in a low voice, "If you feel dizzy and can't walk, don't use them. Do you know how to use the radio?"
"I don't..."
"You don't know anything?"
"I'm a newcomer, bro!"
Rubber helplessly gestured, then knelt, tightened a thigh gun holster for Arthur, stood up, tapped Arthur's helmet, and then grabbed Arthur's collar, whispering, "The radio is automatic, just talk and listen. Put your pistol in the thigh holster for a quicker draw. Go."
Even if you have to learn from combat, this is a bit too rushed.
Rubber picked up two bags, threw them on John's lap, and then returned to the driver's seat.
Arthur was now fully armed, holding an HK416 in his hands, a Glock 19 strapped to his thigh, four spare magazines on his tactical vest, and three grenades. Sitting back in the passenger seat, he felt like he was sitting on something.
"Okay, we'll drive close to the house and wait for the drug dealers inside to be drawn out by Peter. After ten minutes, we'll go in."
Rubber drove closer to Juan's house again, and they could see what was happening around the house.
Frank took out his phone, looking serious. "When we launch the attack, Bottle Cap and I will fire two rockets first, then start the assault. Rubber, you enter a bit later, Kid, you listen to Rubber's commands."
"Yes, understood."
Frank dialed the phone, then whispered, "Action."
With just one sentence said, it was up to George next, so all they could do was wait.
After about ten minutes, there was movement in the house. The yard lights were much brighter, and a group of people streamed out of the yard gate, starting their cars parked on the roadside, and the convoy roared away.
"Phew, they're gone..."
After Frank said that, he looked at his watch and whispered, "Wait another ten minutes, Kid, keep watch."
Arthur turned around and saw Frank in the car pulling out the M72 rocket launcher, switching it from carry mode to launch mode.
"Press here to launch, with a minimum firing distance of ten meters. Understand?"
"Understood."
The on-site teaching was simple and direct. Frank immediately handed over a rocket launcher, saying, "When I tell you to fire, just aim roughly and shoot. It's pretty simple."
Arthur took the rocket launcher, and he felt that these ten minutes of waiting were even longer than the previous ten.
Finally, Frank whispered, "Rubber, let's go."
Rubber started the car without turning on the headlights, just driving directly under the street lights, not too fast, and when he stopped, he did so very slowly, without making any sharp braking sounds.
The car came to a stop, John and Frank got out of the car, one holding a gun and the other a rocket launcher, and they began to run towards Juan's house, one on each side.
After passing the gate and stopping at the railing slightly to the side, John aimed the rocket launcher at the house and fired. The rocket flew through the gap in the railing and hit the wall of the house. After a brief moment, there was a loud explosion inside the house.
These guys were indeed an offensive team, and when they were about to attack, they didn't even bother to say hello.
