🕑 Added 2018-03-08 21:25:32 +0000 UTC Well Patreon followers, here I am for my second post! So much has happened in the past two weeks as far as 'business' is concerned.I've set up an EIN, LLC (Ragonia Art, LLC), business bank account, facebook page, society 6 page, patreon... And there's so much more I COULD and NEED TO set up. There's so many websites for artists to use, guys. It's overkill.
I illustrated and printed business cards! I love the direction the cards are taking my branding. I'm thinking: "Modern Funky Earthy". That said, the concept of branding still makes me feel all icky.
I attended Emerald City Comic Con. It was exciting and overwhelming and inspiring and intimidating. I wanted to go to my first convention for so many reasons. I wanted to get a first glimpse at what conventions are like so that I'd feel more prepared to apply for one in the future. I wanted to meet some amazing artists, ask them some questions about their business and process, and buy some art from them. I also found myself enthralled with the branding that different artists use for themselves and how I might apply that to my own business. Business.
ECCC at first made me feel so incompetent. I felt strongly like I was at the very beginning of my career and afraid that I wouldn't be able to achieve such beautiful or successful art. I was comparing myself to other artists in a very negative way. No more! Stop that! By the end I had altered my self-talk to be encouraging and inspiring.
I had my last day of work at my restaurant job. It was hard to say goodbye to such wonderful people and a wonderful workspace. I learned to work hard there. I learned to trust myself. I learned to multi-task and plan. I am truly grateful for my time spent there.
Hm.
Well! I feel like the last two weeks have been consumed by business work. Ironically, I miss drawing! I hope now that I've cleared out a good chunk of the business things I can now make some art.
Go make some art!
