In restaurants I've worked where the cameras inside might not be working, the cameras OUTSIDE would be functioning to prevent/record break-ins, theft, vandalism, etc. We once had a guy pull up outside the restaurant in a rented U-haul truck with a machine in the back with a hose that he hooked up to our grease container out back. He literally STOLE the used fryer oil that was supposed to be picked up to get recycled just a couple of hours before the regular truck should have arrived. Never in decades if restaurant work have I seen anyone run a scam like that! Had to be an inside job with someone on the route tipping him off and giving him keys to the lock, though.
