One Inch Pre-Alpha 3.0 is live
🕑 Added 2024-05-02 04:35:47 +0000 UTCAight... So, I overpromised. I won't lie... Pre-Alpha 3.0 is what 2.2 was supposed to be. Enough changes have been made that I felt calling it 3.0 was justified, still, I did not meet all of the goals I wanted to by the end of April.
Some of those goals include finishing the introduction and adding more content for Tina, Gwen, Olivia, and Roxanne. Gwen did get a bit of extra content, mainly used to showcase the new giant encounter system which acts as a secondary mode to normal battles, but it's not a lot.
Still, there are a ton of functional changes to core mechanics. Trading and NPCs got a massive update. Crafting is now possible. Character creation is done. Team mates can be disbanded and found again in Sanctuary. Buying and selling is much more robust.
This was very much a big "under-the-hood" sort of update. Lots of core mechanics have been tweaked or completely changed.
So what does that mean going forward? It means I truly expect to fulfill the promise that was supposed to be 2.2. That means a recreation of the intro from the Quest version and more content.
I want Pre-Alpha 4.0 to be the last pre-Alpha. The goal now is to have a viable Alpha 1.0 by the end of June. This Alpha will serve as the big public debut and a big push towards publicizing this game further and trying to gain more support while steering away from coding core mechanics from scratch and towards just making content while tweaking and editing code as necessary.
There will almost inevitably be some sort of new mechanic that needs to get written that will take time away from content. There is also a much needed sound and music update that will need to be addressed at some point.
Otherwise, though, despite some of the struggles, I feel very happy and confident with every day I work on this game.
