July Update and Alpha build 231
🕑 Added 2022-07-26 15:41:55 +0000 UTCHey, everyone! As July comes to a close and I try desperately to figure out where all the time went, I just wanted to update everyone on a few things. Progress has been a bit slower than expected this month, but there are things to talk about. First off, I'm almost done with the main stretch of story for Chapter 2, as anyone who has played through the latest alpha, build 230, may have seen. With it, new battle mechanics are being worked in to make the turn-based system more engaging and provide some depths. Some of which include bomb making! By the end of Chapter 2 you will be given the ability to make certain bombs on the go with the promise of more bombs in the future. Currently, this includes a fire bomb which deals, predictably, heat based damage. Flying insects are extremely vulnerable to heat. Also, Linne's Bomb, which causes any enemy you throw it at to flee from battle. Bombs are primarily for battle-use only, at the moment, and there's no current plans to incorporate their use into giant-encounters.
As for giant encounters, there are a few new ones on the horizon for build 231. Gwen and Roxanne will be making a full come-back with all of their previous encounters restored to as they were pre-0.04. Gwen will be found roaming around in the afternoon and will have a few new interactions as well. I've already put some work into these two characters and am confident they will be present in build 231. As for some other recent additions, I don't want to make any promises. Yes, this does include fan-favorite, Joanne, and her sidekick, Stephanie. They are next on the priority list if they do not see any new content with the next alpha.
I was hoping to drop build 231 by the end of July but now it's looking more like the first week of August. This will be a fairly large update so I want to make sure everything is working as intended. This also means public beta 0.05 is coming soon, no later than the end of August, at least, that is what I'm aiming for.
