Omg, you just described the sales pitch to every single crowdfunding campaign for almost everything: Slapping on some guilt or social cause demanding you NEED to support it even if you're not interested, or else you're a bad person. Even corporations deploy this tactic, like when a bunch of obese hillbillies were cramming chick filet down their throats to save Jesus or whatever

A shame, but not surprising. And as much as I like original ideas, this notion that we need to be "supporting" entertainment media for any reason outside genuine interest rather than just buying what we want is about as incredible to me as people who say "nobody asked for this" when stuff like this comes out.
