I added that to my list after finishing Mona Lisa. Bob Hoskins was such a charismatic and animated actor.

Listening to this again in the car, I feel the need to comment on your quick aside on "woke" and why nobody showed up for this movie. I, too, cringe whenever I hear that word used even if it's ironically (ESPECIALLY when it's used in a movie) while also acknowledging that the concept is indeed a huge problem plaguing art and entertainment all across the board. I personally didn't see Furiosa in the theater not because I felt it looked woke, but because the well has been poisoned for so long by it I've all but lost interest in modern filmmaking. I've aged out of the target demographic, made peace with that, and have been discovering films of decades past I missed when I was young or wasnt alive to see. Movie tickets are $14.50 where I live and that's just too steep for me, my wife, and our kids to risk.

Check out The Long Good Friday too!

Did you ever watch any Eddie Cantor films? I'm a huge Eddie Cantor and Al Jolson fan, and Cantor was a good comedian. Woody Allen's whole hypochondriac/wimp persona is directly inspired by Cantors shtick.

Louie Caponecchia

"All the children are dead..." Remember that classic? It's on YouTube

Louie Caponecchia

I've been trying to watch Mona Lisa starring Bob Hoskins ever since Ryan praised that movie. If anyone is interested, it's now on HBO Max. Before I couldn't even find it to rent on Amazon.

JokersJuicyAss

More of a Area 53 guy myself

Trevor Poe

Nice to hear someone else listened to Coast 2 Coast AM.

It’s been well over a decade since I watched Freaked but it’d make a good episode, I think. On the other hand… if you give me a movie with Alex Winter I’ll be happy so maybe don’t just take my word for it🤭

Mary and Steve

Dig the didgeridoo version of the theme 🤘🦘

JokersJuicyAss

Now Ryan that whole missing people at national parks thing, while for a story it sounds cool, in reality they probably got lost and hit their head, and/or because of trauma they forget it, like I have been threw some shit as a teenager and my brain blocks out that trauma, problem is it also block out my childhood despite that being pretty good

Demetreas Andrews

I've never heard if The Castle before. It's exactly the kind of movie I love. I'm definitely going to check it out. It's one of the reasons I love your podcast and joined your patreon, I've learned about so many movies I've nver heard of that quickly became favorites

Thomas Bishop

I always heard something was "dear" whenever things started to get expensive.

JokersJuicyAss

If themed movie catch ups are going to be a thing then there is a possibility there will be a Joker's JUICY Ass theme catch up with the amount of shit I send you and how on theme they are

JokersJuicyAss

Also I thought of this last night but wouldn't filming Fury Road in Australia make more sense given the WIldFlower popping up, like it explains without outwardly telling us that's Joe's area get more rain thus more water

JokersJuicyAss

Now Ryan the people who complain, "Oh it's woke" will say that for anything doesn't matter if it is or not

JokersJuicyAss

Speaking of No one has never heard of it. My next batch of shit has some obscure stuff

JokersJuicyAss

I actually seen The Cars that Ate Paris, don't remember much from it aside from some of the cars (Of fucking course my autistic ass remember the cars) and during a dance scene one guy was wearing a box for a mask

Lux Anatis

Forget the kookaburra wings and just go for Wing Stop next time. Higher tier counter service chains are a way better value than lower tier table service ones today with little to no drop in quality. Or just eat local like an adult.

Almost Cult Classics

I did curbside to-go and it was still an unpleasant experience.

Tom Goodwin

Also, it's still incredibly common to still hear "Tell him he's dreamin'" and "That's going straight to the pool room" on pretty much a daily basis in Australia

Ryan Lancello

“No rules, just right.”

Thomas Bishop

I lived in Australia for a year in my 20's and hung-out with 99% asian expats and rarely left the city. But I have had a weird fascination with collecting Australian movies and shows since, so it's so great to see other people getting into it. Weird side note, my Korean girlfriend and her friends went to an Outback Steakhouse that used to be in a shopping mall in the north part of Sydney and had no idea what i was talking about when I tried to explain that it's weird to go to an American made Australian themed steakhouse in Australia as opposed to any bar anywhere in the city.

Tom Goodwin

As one of the resident Australians, might I suggest Bad Boy Bubby for the next batch of Aussie films? It's a pretty famous for being transgressive but it's also a genuinely good piece of very odd cinema. The Last Wave is also sitting in my to-watch pile, so I'll report back when I get to it. Amazing soundtrack too

Thomas Bishop

My stepmother was an alien.

Lux Anatis

Did the waitress sit down next to you to take your order?

Ryan Lancello

We used to be a country…😞

Almost Cult Classics

After we recorded this episode, I actually did stop at Outback for dinner. It was a repulsive experience in every way.

Lux Anatis

The last, and I mean last, time I went to an Outback Steakhouse the bill was over $100 before tip. Why would I ever take my wife and daughter to another table service chain ever again?

Lux Anatis

I say you insist upon the entire collected works of Michael Moore.

Luke Gordnier

Dan the man Ackroyd maybe speaking the truth about ghosts and aliens.

Almost Cult Classics

I’m going to make Ryan watch seven Laurel & Hardy movies

Luke Gordnier

At some point Joe, you need to hyjack movie catch up with a specific genre
