Also, I agree with the disagreements with Tarantino you guys have in regards to Hardcore, Tarantino has the annoying trait of always going out of his way to defend degenerate shit.

Segal absolutely is the influence on Eastwood's directing style. I've read that Clint would pick his brain constantly and show up for scenes he wasn't in even to watch what Segal would do etc. I've also read that Segal encouraged him to get into directing and even let Clint do some second unit for small scenes in one of the movies they did together. That's a rumor and I doubt he would admit it even now cuz of union stuff.
