I have mixed feelings on this one. Living in Minneapolis, you occasionally get someone working bar from Wisconsin and they will make you an Old Fashioned this way. When you're in a darkly lit bar and you take that first swig without looking closely at your drink, the sweetness is jarring when you were expecting bourbon. I've heard shouts of "what the hell is this?" many times in bars, and the bartender has no idea what they did wrong.
