Weekly Update
🕑 Added 2023-11-02 23:23:51 +0000 UTCHi everyone. Unfortunately, I've had an annoying mental fog this week and couldn't really focus on getting things done. Which is why I've decided to postpone the release date a little. It will still 100% be out this month as I have to fly out for a few days on the 20th so I'm definitely going to have the links up before that. There's no real reason for the lack of focus imo. My guess is that I just sat and wrote/rendered/coded too much without breaks and it just temporarily broke my focus. I was very embarrassed to make this post because I know it's been a while since the last episode and I have no intention of delaying the release and believe me I want to get this out there asap.
I realized I hadn't stepped out of the house for 2 weeks and couldn't really sleep well so I'd get in bed by 2-3am then have anxious thoughts keeping me up for an hour or two and then randomly wake up at 7-8 feeling sleepy but also wanting to work. I wanted to be straight with you guys because I don't want to sugar-coat it. I just couldn't focus and that's on me. Payments of course are still paused and I'll just try to step away from my pc every now and then so I don't get burnt out again.

You've already proven you can do the work, CC, but now's the time to balance work and life a little better now, so the project doesn't rule all aspects of your life. Nobody who truly understands the level of work involved in making a quality visual novel -- *especially* when working solo -- will fault you for setting aside time for yourself. Creativity does not come from nowhere. It starts from a place of being able to think imaginatively -- to "daydream", if you will. And it can be very hard to get your head in that sort of free-thought, meditation-like imaginative mindset if you're constantly stressed and exhausted. I've said before, I pay what I can afford here, so I'm not going to take my patronage and go home anytime soon. Anyone who *does* leave because "it's taking too long" or whatever, doesn't understand what you're making, or what they actually signed up for. Let them go, and good riddance. They're not really helping in the end. If it helps, one of the best bits of creative advice I ever received was this: "Do 10 minutes every day". Now, many days, you'll be on a roll and go for an hour, or multiple hours, and that's great. But on the days when nothing's good, you do what you can muster for 10 minutes, and then let it go. It's not the day for it, so don't punish yourself. Don't make creativity feel like punishment. Now, go do something fun. That's an order! :-) Best to you and yours, as ever,

Absolutely this. If you force the work, you risk coming to see it only as "pressure", which will hurt your enjoyment and your creativity in relation to the project. Part of a good work ethic is knowing when you need to take a break. Taking time off rebuilds your energy and your focus so that you can return to the work and still *enjoy* what you're doing. Take care of you, CC. Not only will you feel better, but the project will be better for it, as it will continue to be interesting to you, and never just "work". Best to you and yours, as ever,

Your mental wellbeing is more important than my entertainment. You are making a great product and need to take better care of yourself. Get this episode out and then take a week off to look at flowers or count the grains of sand on the beach. Don't burn yourself out because if you do, we will miss out on a great story and awesome lewd scenes! 😉
