This month's update brings a special new feature! 🌟
As some of you know SNB is, at least in part, inspired by the old "Choose Your Own Adventure" novels from the 80s and 90s. ...and what was the absolute best feature of those books? Why, the horrifyingly overdramatic deaths of course! Part of the fun was seeing what terrifying possibilities awaited down each path, like being shot out of a space cannon or getting sacrificed to a cult of cat worshipers.
That's why you can find a number of deadly scenarios throughout the game, but up until recently these just dumped the player back to the main menu - forcing an inconvenient full restart or save scumming. Well, we're happy to announce that's no longer the case!
We've now implemented a major feature that allows you to explore your own mortality and then (if you want) continue on your journey. Anytime after the intro, you can safely be reborn - waking up in your bed the morning of your untimely demise. Neat, eh?
Implementing this feature involved creating a whole new custom save system and a series of checks and routers that run in the background as you play. You'll find that not everything resets and some things are retained through the rebirth process, the most visible of which is a new UI panel on the DataPad. (check out the skull)
The downside is that all this has proven to be unusually complicated to test and make robust. That's why we've made the choice to split this update into two parts! So for right now we're only adding in the basic functionality of the rebirth system to test it and get feedback, with new scenes and a whole boatload of gruesome scenarios coming next month!
So - we need you! Yes, you! Please let us know about any bugs or issues you discover via Discord or in the comments below! It will really help!
...and that's not all!
We're happy to announce that we'll be adding achievements and integrating in-game analytics to help us better figure out how to improve the game! This will then culminate in our releasing SNB to Early Access on Steam at the end of the year! Whew!
There's a lot to look forward to, and we appreciate all the support and feedback. It's been a wild ride and there's more to come!

Additions:
- Rebirth System. When you select a skull option in dialogue you will have the choice to be reborn, waking up safe and sound in your room!
- Total death/rebirth cycles now tracked via a small panel on the DataPad.
- More music! Can you find all the cool new tunes?

- Removed some old flags and variables that were just hanging around and up to no good.
