Hiiii!! :D Here's the third animation of the month! This one is a standard animation featuring Liara and Shepard on Omega. The pose is definitely one of my all-time favorites, even though I don’t get to use it often! Aaand Liara and Shepard are two of my favorite characters to animate, especially considering how stunning this Shepard looks! :D
As I mentioned before, I’m currently in a super intense “training/studying arc,” so animations are taking longer than usual. I’m trying out new techniques, focusing on improving areas where I feel I’m not good enough, and experimenting a lot with new methods of animating and effects of all kind!
Progresses:
One of the main focus was clearly around the toy and butt area. One of the main issue of this kind of toy was how to animate it properly.
With regular dildos one side of it is attached to a solid surface or is being held by hand making the base pinned on something which is easy to rig and animate. When it comes to dildos with two sides, there's not a real "pinning point" as both sides are pushing toward each each other making the "stress point" the middle part. So unless you have someone or something holding the center it will bend a lot. What I ended up doing is making two chain of bones going into opposite directions, these two are chains are rigged with a Spline_IK using two different curves. The base of both curves are hooked to the same bone which controls the center. The center bone now can be used to control the bending of the dildo as both sides push in! :D
Another focus was smoke physics, I wanted to try animating a stream of smoke coming from a cigarette and have it bend and be dragged by the air as she moves her arm and then actually smoking. While I'm not totally happy with the result since it still doesn't look realistic enough, there's been big steps made and most importantly the idea behind it works. The smoke is an animated texture which is rigged with a chain of bones going upward. The base is parented to the cigarette's tip while the bones above are animated with bonedynamics, then manually I deform the smoke the be larger as the arm moves and become less intense as the movement spreads the smoke.
For this kind of pose and animation I think one of the most important aspect is the butt collision as the theme is very focused in that area. So I had to make sure to make the collision very visible with a deformation that looks as good as I can. For this I used a ripple effect that's made with the classic method that Rikolo3D uses and have made a very good tutorial for (I highly recommend checking that out or the rest of this paragraph will be weird to read). The planes that make the displacement create a very nice looking collision point when the butt touch if placed correctly but then it has to move away from there to actually create the ripple effect. So if you want to keep the butt together for a bit longer eventually they will resume their round form and clip into each other. The first idea was to create a second Ripple Control Plane to mantain the keep the displacement active on the butt "kissing" area, but that would be very memory consuming and not very practical. So the final and best solution so far was to manually sculpt the shape of the butts kissing and control it with shape keys!
I'm quite happy with the result as they look so soft I definitely would sleep there :D
Little fun last minute note. Did some masking in Davinci Resolve to fix some issues in the animation and... Well if this was premiere with these heavy image sequences the software would have crashed 30 times and exporting would have taken ages! Very much enjoying DR :D (Even though the most unreliable undo button ever sometimes is a bit annoying)

Coming next the Minthara poll animation and a bonus Lae'zel simple animation I made in my free time last month to study Non Linear Animation! :D
I'm not really sure if anyone actually reads the progress part which is meant to be both helpful or at least somewhat enjoyable to read :D

Even though I'm not a creator, that was interesting to read to see how everything worked together. The butt ripple's were my favourite part of this animation, they look so soft and I definitely see why you would want to sleep on them, I would as well. Great work on this, Liara is so freaking hot so it's always nice to see something of her ❤️
