I have made a dreadful mistake.

Could be used as a warning on how much the special meds remove the pain, but still leaves him open to damage?

Could rewrite it as Jake giving him a banjo lesson and teaching him to hold the strings down while Jake plucks them

Recent Evolution has given humans prehensile penes... :) But.. even in a cast his fingers can still strum using wrist movement.
