New Year's Post About a New Game
🕑 Added 2020-01-01 05:01:01 +0000 UTCAs I've crossed over the half-way point with SWAK's development I've started to think about what my next project should be. I've gotten pretty burnt out on straightforward trainer games -- though, don't worry, all my projects will forever feature a focus on written scenes and a slow, deliberate build-up in relationships. I do, however, need new, extra narrative and mechanical layers to help keep these games intellectually stimulating to develop.
With all that said, my next project will be an actual RPG. I did a few polls a while back about the genre and from those I fleshed out a few good concepts and look forward to working on at least one of them in the future. This one, however, will not be any of those. Before jumping into a big, ambitious, and creative game I want to first find my footing with a smaller scale, less elaborate one. This'll help me get experience with various new plugins (in particular a quest log / journal that can serve as an in-game guide) as well as with map-making, and I can experiment with battle systems and character development mechanics.
What'll be my first RPG, then? The current title of it is Cursed and it's current concept is:
You play as Thea, an unlucky treasure hunter. After her latest hunt turns up fruitless and she's left nearly broke she decides to return to her home village. While there she begins to rummage around in her family's old belongings and finds a map that leads to ruins just outside of the village.
Upon exploring them she finds a sealed chest. Thinking there's treasure in there, she opens it and unleashes a powerful succubus. The demon 'gifts' Thea with a curse that gives her the abilities of a succubus, which include an ever growing, unquenchable lust and the ability to gather energy from others during sex and use it for magic.
Visiting the local mage, Thea learns that in order to break the curse she needs the blood of the succubus that cursed her (and thus has to find and defeat her), plus various other rare and/or expensive ingredients that she must either find or get the money for. Thea also learns that if she doesn't rid herself of the curse that eventually she'll fully transform and become an enslaved minion to her creator.
If you're thinking "That sounds super generic" -- well, yeah, that's by design. As I said, I wanted something uncomplicated. This gives the player a straightforward goal and allows the game to be somewhat sandbox-y in that my current idea is that you'll be able to collect the ingredients in whichever order you want. Plus, the broad, simple plot allows me to incorporate a ton of ideas I've gotten over the decade or so of playing other heroine-led hentai RPGs.
As for the content there'll be the usual H-RPG stuff like Thea getting harassed while working at a tavern or while in a public bath, plus events like trading sexual favors to get around obstacles. There'll also be content more along the lines of my other works -- building relationships with NPCs. Outside of one relationship, though, they'll mostly be based on degradation and corruption. Lastly, with this being a fantasy RPG, not all encounters will be with humans.
As for Thea herself she'll be around 25-ish years old and have some experience as an adventurer. I really don't have much interest in the usual naive, ignorant newbie-adventurer who gets tricked into doing stuff. I've already created a good looking character model for her, which I'll show off below. It's mostly done but I'll probably continue to tweak it. I've also done two other renders with her to see how she looked, but they're NSFW so I'll put them up in a separate patrons post.
That should wrap this post up. SWAK still has a good 4 ~ 6 updates left before it's done and that will still remain my main focus. For now I'll mostly be creating an outline for Cursed's main content and experimenting with RPG Maker MV plugins. As I finalize concepts for it I'll post more information. If you want, post questions below in the comment section or (more likely) complain about me working on a RPG and/or the game having a female lead.

No, a large-scale dating sim is still my ideal game. It's just that if SWAK takes over a year to complete imagine how long a game with ten or so characters would take. So, I wanna get some of my smaller project ideas out of the way first and sharpen up my skills before starting something of that large and ambitious.
Wasn't there the discussion about a game called Common Life or something similar? Is that dead?
Yeah. I plan to have every sexual encounter be optional, so you should be able to keep her as pure as you want (i.e. pure, untouched maiden or a technical virgin).
