Hadn't considered that last one...

No more or less reliable than the various merca etc for hire that they are currently recruiting from. And I'm not just talking about people to crew ships, which is their main focus there. I am talking about the logistics side of things which is a lot harder to hire in bulk since most people aren't willing to spend their entire family and lives to move to some unknown colony world (not that they could tell them that) where they would be stuck for the foreseeable future. The rebellion has people like that in spades. The caveat that they will be unable to leave etc wouldn't phase a lot of them and many would happily bring their families for the safety it provides. Which is just more manpower.

Jake Haxton

Manpower can be gained through recruitment throughout the outer rim, rebel recruits would also be an unknown variable as they have proven to be unreliable in the past.

Fortunis

I see a lot of peeps talking about Deacon needing more people. While true, given what just happened with Vader I wouldn't trust anyone from the Rebellion I either didn't know personally or had serious meta knowledge of. He can easily recruit people from outter rim and mid rim worlds. Like Mon Mothma said they love the Vanguard. That said the intelligence is a great start. I'd also want the X-Wing plans. Other than those two things, infrastructure items would be a solid trade. Regular shipment of construction materials and tools, educational materials for training, livestock to start herds, basically a shit load of colony materials for the people Deacon does recruit.

SwiftFate

Manpower. I think it's pretty obvious that one of the main things Deacon lacks is significant and experienced manpower for a variety of things like building etc. Something the rebellion does not lack in the least. If I was him, I would petition them for permanent volunteers for the colony. People who would be stationed there permanently and unable to leave (for now, for security reasons) with their families. A population that could and likely would transition from the rebellion into his own forces over time. He needs to increase his economical and industrial output and having a larger population that is brought in with the existing experience is a great way to do so. He could find people to crew ships, stations, factories etc that after a testing period for trust would be an immense help.

Here I thought he was being undercut intentionally and it was going to cause more drama

The rebellion assets are mostly in manpower, intelligence and politics which means anything you might want from them will have to come from those sources, favorable policies, political guarantees, contacts and spy networks, and recruitment offices in rebel aligned planets sound like the best bet they have.

Commander Miggs

"... in the Skyfroged would ..." Now I'm thinking about the Skyfrogs lead by Kermit.

Instead of buying ressources for the colony, have them provide resources. We can find precious metal deposits, they can provide miners, they can share the profits. They could team up and attack a hutt. Steal everything and share the loot as payment. Also: access to educational material from rebellion member-worlds. Trainers for high-level civilian skills( doctor, scientist, administrator, diplomat, etc) for the organisation. Contact info for other illegal organisations( smugglers, infobrokers, etc) . And,of course, political power in the future republic.

Duke of Coffee

Deacon robbing the Rebellion credit house and all. 😜 Anyway kinda shows you that in the show they always have been small cells working together to undercut the Imperial make them bleed by making thousand small cuts. Hopefully Skyforged will get a good deal out of it with ongoing negotiations.

Jacob Laflamme

I like this shift as it will necessarily reduce the growth of the Skyforged by din of having less income, but also provide them a greater voice. I think some serious proposals from them for price reductions should include future guarantees and policy considerations from the New Republic. The Galactic Civil War has heated up, but replacing the Empire is still such a distant prospect that it would be easier to get considerations of the new government now than later. While these are unlikely to be guarantees, having the official support of the Rebel leadership for these considerations would go a long way. Some of these could include missions that suit the people that make up the Skyforged, such as: - New Republic aid to help restore the biosphere of Mandalore. There is precedent in the case of Taris for the Republic using such a program as a rallying call of what it stands for, as well - Support for the independence of the Jedi in the post-empire era, not dependent on them performing missions. This was something that was quite present in Legends lore, that Luke's Praxeum had to commit to alignment and Jedi support for the New Republic to a certain degree for their funding and aid finding new Force Sensitives - Offering a small discount for Mon Mothma and other future Republic leaders that are currently in the Rebellion to read a policy criticism written by Deacon, using a great deal of his metaknowledge to point out the inefficiencies, corruption, and failures of the Old Republic, as well as the stupidity of disarmament. He could inject a lot of information into that with his metaknowledge, including the importance of maintaining a better military for the sake of fighting the Vong. While no sane politican would make such promises so far ahead of time, making it a condition of reading and serious engagement with such a document could change some minds. - New Republic recognition of Nirn as its own polity, perhaps with considerations like tax breaks - Offering a discount in exchange for a greater share of future joint acquisition missions Overall, this is a great chance for a mercenary company to become a source of political influence.

Welp, with any luck group 2 brings back either a Venator or Victory I maybe an Acclamtor at worst, bonus points if the ships have a full complement of equipment and fighters

Urbane_Bomber

You know, a joint mission to capture a capital class ship or two could go a long way to paying for things the rebellion needs. The rebels forgo any cut of the ships for paid resources in the future :)
