I think that if the Imperials’ secondary goal for this ambush was to drive a wedge between the Rebels and the Skyforged, then they have wildly succeeded… (;-;)

Feliprins

Fairly sure there was an TV show episode where someone finds a derelict base and reprogrammed the B1s to actually be useful, just don't remember how far it went into not being trash tier robot... Anyway, they can always let the AI develop and then clone it later, making an AI clone of sorts (at least keep some memories related to practical stuff while removing the other stuff.)

Fortunis

Yup. All of this is why the Vanguard is going to end up with a huge political base. Deacon can train and elevate the Jedi in to a Grey or semi Grey version of the order and keep them free of Republic bullshit while putting bases and installations all over the outter and mid rim for both recruiting and contacts. Need a small fleet to protect your planet from slavers? Hire the Skyforged Vanguard. He could even put small units in place for security in exchange for things like basing rights and resource acquisition instead of straight currency exchange considering alot of the outter rim doesn't run on galactic credits. Once Miru gets rolling on designs from battle droids and ships specifically for the Vanguard they're going to need ship yards, droid foundries and the like. Thats going to mean a shit load of resources. And that's going to mean finding places to build it all that aren't Nirn so they can keep it a secret. Im looking forward to all that.

If my memory is correct the B1's terrible aim and accident prone was due to subtle sabotage of the programming in the factory's

SwiftFate

Glad they decided to keep the hulk etc.. seemed like such a waste giving it to negligent rebels who will only get it lost due to politics. Now all that remains is for Deacon to get himself a proper flagship to run around in. If Vader has one, Deacon needs one too dammit lmao

This is really well written I like it! I really liked his approach to the characters and his poise. I feel this opens up a lot of the Avenues as far as stories is concerned. Now that you've shown this side of his character I can just see you negotiating with planetary governments. Escort Duty, planetary defense, negotiating alliances. Pandora's Box baby! The wheels are turning! You'd have to limit yourself to the outer rim unfortunately. That pesky emperor knows about you now.

Michael Rojas

You know I didn't know any of this. I mean it makes sense that the rebellion would quickly have a lot of problems do to stupidity. Real world rebellions often fall apart, or start doubling down and committing atrocities on the same level as their oppressors. Was that ever a thing? Were the rebellion ever rightly viewed as terrorists? You know besides the crazies like Saul?

Alita

I agree. The only reason I think the rebellion will play ball now is because he keeps coming up with stuff they want/need. I can also see them leaving Deacon holding the bag if something goes tits up and he takes a huge hit because of a rebellion screw up.

Alita

Exactly. I love the idea of a lightly (read: cheap, easy and fast to do) upgraded B1s, a few other specialty droids, a few engineers and an organic command (bridge crew) and you can have fully functional and damn near optimized ships of virtually any size you have access to running.

anthony corcoran

To be honest i see the main reason being they lost most of their experience commanders really early. and most of their actual properly trained troops on scarif. they lost their original naval commander above scarif aswell. The rebellion so more success and tactics when it operated as small cells spread across the galaxy, it was when it consolidated under the high comand that things when tits up, add in certain leaders really didnt like giving up power or being disobeyed.

anthony corcoran

except the rebellion actually did deal with planetry leaders. The most prominent being garm iblis, he was infact one of the founders and they treated him so crappy and disregard his point he left the rebellion and took the corellia system with him. They had a habit of upsetting their backers really quickly and when they eventually formed the new republic those backers which were usually in the mid or outer rim got royally screwed as the had to appease the core.

TexanWarrior

I really am enjoying Deacons show! He's showing them that he's the leader of a relatively powerful yet still growing faction. He has men and women who are highly competent and lethal in combat, he has the mysterious and powerful Jedi, though he has not used any besides his partner, on his side. He has shown to have an incredible amount of niche and general knowledge concerning his allies and his enemies. That could potentially speak to his intelligence gathering abilities, (though we know that's because he watched the movies and the shows lol.) Honestly I believe the rebellion would be best served if they treated him like a planetary leader, that way they can ally with him like any nation would ally with another, instead of a mercenary they can simply hire.

Fortunis

Yup. Basically almost every major victory could be attributed to Luke or other Jedi pulling off impossible missions. Not all of them but the majority certainly.

Fortunis

Sure, but with hundreds of thousands of them they're basically gonna be sitting around taking up space he could use for other things. It makes a ton of sense to drop the least capable droids on the Rebellion and let them deal with it. Keeping the B2's and Commando droids as his primary combat forces makes much more sense. All though yes keeping the ship crew droids would be smart.

andrew rousseau

Tbf the b1s arent as bad as thier portrayed most of the time, they make deccent second line garrison forces and are acceptable for crewing ships with organic oversight

andrew rousseau

Did the vanguard snag any DSD1 Dwarf spider droids from the Diamond cruiser? Theyd make good light anti vehicle support. And regarding the haul from what i could gather the vanguards keeping at least 150 Commando droids, 43000 B1s, 42000 B2 SBD, and assuming a half complement remaining from the droid numbers left after the battle and giving the rebs 10 c9979s thats somewhere around 10-15 c9979 with thier vehicle complements notably the AAT (1140-1710 tanks if thers 10 c99s or 15 respectivly, space wise theres 216 vulture droids, 87 Hyena Bombers, and 54 Tri-fighters, further more any uncounted droids that may have been aboard the dreadnought which can carry 3000 passengers (possibly 3-4 times that if droids) and whatever may have been in the cargo bays, the Munificent would have had 150,000 more droids of various types at full compliment and even if it was only 25% full thats still 37k droidsn plus the possibility of the vanguard finding another cis ship stealing ring from ripping the lucrehulks databanks

Fortunis

Outstanding. He gets rid of most of the dead weight droids (i.e. b1 variants) clears the decks of his Lucrehulk, drops a few lesser ships they don't really need and gets off the shared base all while making it seem like he cut them a deal 😉 🤔 If absolutely love it. It's interesting that the main suspect in fucking them over is absent. Im looking forward to that confrontation.

Duke of Coffee

A deal that hopefully Deacon will rip them a new one.

anthony corcoran

i think the problem at the moment that the rebels may not see coming is not deacon or the skyforged. Once it becomes known (and it will) they could be looking at most of their other contacts demanding hardcash upfront. Considering how most of those same people got seriously screwed over in canon its well deserved. The rebellion got very comfortable demanding and expecting things towards the end, its weird as most of their real wins were based on luck and praying for a savior to do the job, anything going wrong would have seen them screwed.
