Argentave

pretty haunting way to wake up.

Ray

exterminate Daleks are supreme

Urbane_Bomber

Yes it was. That was a fun movie.

Pearl of the Orient

This was clumsy. They should have taken the bodies or just the heads. Leaving a clue that it was a gas attack was a stupid move

Troy Malloy

tftc. I look forward to the way you go with the tech.

Pearl of the Orient

Final mode > Final model

Al

Poor Jackie, needs some reality checks

Kyle Selleck

Ending of the chapter got pretty dark. And it was Awesome! Gives me chills just thinking what something like that would be capable of in the wrong hands. Just goes to show it doesn’t always take a ton of guns and bullets flying around to instill real fear in a large group of people. I would like to see some power armor usage in the future, maybe with some custom designs for the team or pulling from Fallout 76 designs and iterations. I look forward to seeing the kind of things he accomplishes with the Nomad outposts as well, maybe a Panam love interest way down the line? But the nomad path has always been my favorite lore Lifepath so to see the Team including them in their plans brings me joy. Thank you for another amazing chapter. I look forward to reading another one next week!

Someone's gotta share the creepy story, better someone first hand and not whoever stumbles over them.

Reikon67

Wasn't the way the raffin shiv died was like the plot of the vin disel xxx movie with that Russian dud that killed those scientists that made the weapon for him, then after his says a badass line like (that why they call it silent night) are something?

Urbane_Bomber

Bravo on the way that went down. This event will be called something like "Silent night" or "Desert whisper" with the the Raffen. I would also love to see what the megacorps or gangs react to it. That many people in one night are at least bound to draw some gossip.

Cmols897

It's never a war crime the first time. And it isn't so much as war, more like pest control

Oldwinterfang

I agree that looting every thing would be terrifying but I think that it’s worse that none of the bodies were looted for a few reasons. 1. Why was the group taken out? Most people in the cyberpunk world would only ever attempt to take out a group that big for a large payout. The fact that none of the gear was taken implies that it was personal or at the very least they were intruding on a corpos territory. Because why would they amass a massive group to take someone nobody out. 2. None of the guns and weapons were taken therefore the group that did this didn’t need anything they had. This implies that the group that did this has better equipment or that the stuff the raffin had was not even worth taking. Meaning that this isn’t some nobody it has to have been a group under somebody that pays well enough that his people don’t care about the money that can be made from the stuff 3 cyberpunk doesn’t have barriers teck. So the question is how did the group that did this kill everyone in an area without it spreading. I mean the nitrogen is spread out in a perfect sphere. So is this a new type of grenade some rich group is testing? 4 one person lived… just one. A whole camp taken in the middle of the night and they left just one person alive. It might have been an accident but the rest of the world doesn’t know that. To them it would seem to be on purpose after all who would know that this happened if there wasn’t a survivor. Putting this all together the corpos would assume other corpos were behind this. Probably testing a new type of grenade in which they killed a whole war band in such a way to still leave a survivor alive to spread the message. Well that’s my word count for the day lol

Voidwolf 1994

Nice chapter. I think the survivor is going to be scared out of his mind as he gives his report to his boss

Cmols897

We need one survivor to tell the story.

Vincent Mason

A war crime a day keeps the Raffen away

A P

I thought they were actually going to freeze the entire group into ice statues or something

Artman

I think the one survivor turned out to be a good thing.

Miguel Garcia

The fact that the sole survivor is the only one with air filtration is all an investigator needs to know. Getting gassed is just a new spin on a new tech. Yeah, it’s scary, but counter measures already exist. Finding a camp where 50 people just disappeared with no sign of struggle and no bodies? Everything left in place? That’s terrifying. Having a war party just disappeared with all it’s equipment and gear? No fencing of items, no cars appearing sold later, no salvaged weapons or cybernetics, just “poof” gone? That’s a legend. That’s Bermuda Triangle territory.

James Thomas

I'd say they could come back to scavenge and loot the camp at their leisure, but leaving it as is, is an incredibly powerful move/statement. Especially with an unknown lone survivor. This is horror movie type stuff that starts alien or black ops conspiracy rumors or ghost stories. The fear of the unknown will spread far and wide. Can't be a disease, too sudden and no usual signs. Can't be a gas, because they were in the open and no residue remains to see the light of day, also random single survivor. Wasn't an attack, no damage and completely bloodless undamaged corpses. Unless a corpo sends some one out ASAP to get a body to study, decomposition and predators will contaminate or consume whatever evidence remains in the bodies. This one slaughter is already the making of a new legend, a new Roanoke. That nothing was missing or disturbed is a whole new level of unnatural and terrifying in its own right.

Miguel Garcia

You misunderstand. It’s not about the loot. It’s about intimidation. I genuinely believe a Roanoke or the whole war party, equipment and all, just suddenly disappearing would be more intimidating than it getting out that they gassed them all.

Nathan R Chase

Silent but deadly *sniff*

Noob

Tftc. Pumping crafting materials around… THE FACTORY MUST GROW.

Duke of Coffee

Not when Jackson factories can make almost everything? But aye the loot goblin in us tingles with all the vehicles and stuff just there...

Jairo Enrique Quevedo

Damn. Looks like they missed a spot. This is why you always check for survivors.

Rem Freeman

Love this story so dang much!! If you're ever looking to redo the schedules for your stories, please consider moving this one to twice a week! Thanks for the chapter and keep up the great work!!!

Mr Mouse

The sole survivor makes the story they wanted that much stronger, I love it

Miguel Garcia

I’m kinda surprised they didn’t loot the whole camp bodies and all. Having the entire force literally disappear into the recyclers, and anyone investigating just seeing the trail end in nothing would be creepy as hell. Or even Roanoke it. Grab the bodies, toss them in the recyclers and leave an eerily empty camp that.

John

Since the Vault now has nuclear power, the vending machines to get raw material, and molly makers to turn that into usable parts, it's essentially self-sufficient now right? If worst case scenario they had to fall back to it tomorrow they could keep digging and building it out even with no outside contact or resources. I call that a win. Glad Jackson is finally realizing that he's more useful as the inventor instead of as a grunt, and that Kayt can explain that to Jackie. I didn't see the point much of making the armor, but I guess it's like making way-out-of-date tech from Detroit Becoming Human, just filling in background.

Yunru

Heh, "goodbye bye"

Duke of Coffee

Lucky bastard, well I wonder if he'll spread the horror story to his friends.
