Joyeus

The only reason fev is dangerous is the open air vats left sitting around for a hundred years and, like every piece of technology in fallout, unregulated, unethical use. It is harmless if properly stored and disposed of because it need direct skin to ooze contact to infect you. FEV is the gate way to many abilities like psyonics, man-machine melding, and man-plant melding. What is dangerous about make a bottle of goo then checking it in the plasma incinerator with gravity containment seals.

gigin CZ

Except that the matter coverting machines won't mutate you into a de facto zombie. They are dangerous for very different reasons, and I personaly agree with his choice in this matter

Terence Crawford

“Still, I couldn't ignore the tech just because it was dangerous.” He says ignoring FEV tech because it was dangerous.

Yunru

Yes and no. I *don't* want to see him engaging earlier. Once the vault is set up (even barebones) then yes, but before that all engagements do is drag out said setup.

Yunru

"We"? Speak for yourself.

Al

But, there is no problem? The mc has already acknowledged he can just bomb them and designated it as Plan B. He wants to send a message. He's got options he's considering, but can bomb them at his leisure. Reputation is important for edge runners.

Ray

as i said last chap use the vault drill or rig up a sound device to make instant sinkhole/quicksand

Ikasuki

Reason why this « outing on a show «  is absolute nonsense. It’s creating a problem where there is none. Just bomb them and continue to science away your problems. The author is creating problems and dilemma where honestly there should be 0 so we feel a huge disconnect and start to lose interest

Surgical suit should be Surgical Suite Surgery suit >> surgery suite

Fortunis

Sure if he wants to store the materials. The key ability though is materials conversion. Right now his Mollymakers can only use whatever matter he feeds them. Iron molecules from iron and steel, gold molecules from cyberware and computer circuitry and so on. The vending machines change ALL that so he can convert excavated stone into literal gold. That then gets fed to Mollymakers and stored as molecular materials. And considering his current building needs he's gonna be pumping out a shit load more Mollymakers and robots if he's smart. He literally has access to exponential growth now only limited by power sources and available materials like stone, sand, rock, hell he could probably feed the damn thing water from the underground stream and convert that to small amounts of materials.

RegularReplacement

I would think the smart play with the Vending machines would be to feed all the rock into them to make a really dense like lead. Doing that would reduce the space needed to store it as stated in the chapter the denser the parent material then better yield on the descendant material. So 1 kg of Lead becomes, you'd get 1.0519 kg of gold back (based on percentages and atomic weight) or 1kg of Lead to 1.1367kg Tungsten. It would make more sense to do the matter conversions for very expensive materials and rare materials that cannot be easily sourced on the open market and even using the black market would draw attention Jackson would not want. However, if Noah did the math for what is needed to build out the Vault, then what ever is above that expected limit I would convert into storage stock like lead.

Nameless

I am hoping we get to see power armor in action as it’s been a thing since 2020 of cyberpunk I believe so using power armor wouldn’t stand out to badly but would be better then using something like energy weapons. I can already imagine hellfire power armor and rigs just tearing it up with using a gau 19

Pity he can't nuke them from orbit since it will get the corporations attention... nevertheless maybe do a first strike with Jackie leading the way because after all he wanted to be an Edgerunner. 🤔

Al

Peeeeople, I know edgerunning is the go to in these settings but Jackson seriously can't go loud until the vault. Cyberpunks a world where if someone sees you have better stuff than them they take the stuff or the person who made it. He can't stop corpo death squads or ninja abductors. He can't manage one let alone multiple if they catch wind of what hes doing. He couldn't even make a whole robot. Reduced to selling a joint of it. Let em cook so he doesn't get cooked :p it looks like it'll be worth it

Dawn Whitbeck

If you ever need a verse with high end cybernetics look at metal gear rising, Raidan can just causally pick up metal Kaiju, and if I remember right he does it before he upgraded

Lictor Magnus

Thanks for the chapter! While the vault will be very secure and he has turrets and shades have you considered adding some heavier military hardware to their base. Fallout definitely had artillery, while it might not be as impressive as some high tech version cyberpunk might have an artillery battery that can fire 15 miles away would deter any convoy or large scale attack.

Tolisk

Regardless of if he finally starts interacting with the world more or not, the real question is if the matter converter can straight up make elerium and other such black boxed materials.

Fortunis

@Gabriel yeah that's fair. I'm interested in Viks reaction when our boy shows him some of his Bioware and Cybernetics catalog.

Jordan Davis

I want to start by saying that I like this story a lot and Jackson is a cool MC, but bro is barely interacting with the world in any fun way, meaning he's not fighting anybody!! I want to see arasaka ninjas, militech soldiers and Etc trying to break into his compound and him having to fight them off! He has concepts of enemies in his head but none actually! Really just want to see him ramp up weapon production and actually do something with all the tech he's been acquiring, instead of Keikaku... Keikaku... KEIKAKU!!! He's a bit to passive. Which is why I hope his next tech tree is something that will force him to ramp up like OverWatch and Symmetra's Tech. I don't know, I just want him to actually do something with his second instead of just sitting on it. The story is still really interesting despite what I said above, but yeah.

Fortunis

The problem is footprint. He's trying to avoid notice from the major entities by releasing technology that nobody else has but everyone would absolutely start a war over. He can't really fight the entire world right now. And if he reveals terraforming technology on that level? Everyone from the NUSA and Militech to Arasaka will be coming for him. Then he'll absolutely have to turtle in a Vault for a while till he can deal with that. I mean, these corporations have already shown a willingness to drop nukes. Hell there's a space based society right now with rods from god aimed at earth as a "peace keeping" measure.

Gabriel

Even just seeing more people reacting to the things he’s making would be nice. Not necessarily reacting to his super advanced science but a scene with victor seeing his implants or with a militech acquisition team discussing one of tinker tech’s new products would be nice

Feliprins

I really hope things scale a bit after the Aldecados come, he already has quite the power on his hands, he can like literally start cleaning the desert, making farms which can be used as a front for his food processing stuff while also a front for hiring people and improving his standing in the world (making a miracle of turning a desert into a breadbasket for the world, making his own restaurant branch while gaining a lot of employees.)

Fortunis

I'd imagine it'll be personal interaction. Taking bigger jobs, meeting business interests, making alliances, taking a star ship out for the first time to survey an off planet Vault location, all kinds of options really.

Feliprins

Make a bunch of Synths for internal manpower, hire more trustworthy humans for external operations and start to show some presence, it would make Sable more obedient, put the fear of God unto the gangs and could even begin to make the desert into a new oasis (recovering the ecosystem in the desert while clearing the fallout is very much a great statement of your abilities, something which would make companies wary and respectful if you are not flat out stealing their market share)

Fortunis

😆 🤣 😂 thats one way to get an exterminatus called on you.

Fortunis

That vending machine is a fucking game changer. With the bots turning every ounce of excavated rock in to usable materials from Iron to Rhodium he basically has an unlimited supply chain for his Mollymakers. If the later iterations of the vending machine use straight energy to matter conversion he won't even need to feed the damn things materials. That means he won't need to send material runs to the dumps to aquire materials since that's no longer a bottle neck. Thats outstanding. Once the tree poofs I'm really looking forward to what he does with it. Because as it stands he's got all he needs to build advanced self contained power armor complete with energy weapons and micro missles with black hole implosions 😆 🤣. Im really looking forward to seeing what he comes up with for the Wraith ass wooping. That and seeing the Nomads take on their new camping spot. (Insert panam bikini pic here).

Fortunis

I disagree. I'm totally here for the tech tree buildup. I also like the action, but seeing what goes in to making the toys that allow for the action is a key part of the story for me.

krane 97

With the matter converter and all the other tech, Jackson has almost if not already exceeded the tech level of the world, he just need some space tech and nobody will be able to touch him. Will he leave to go to space or stay on earth ?

no-thoughts-only-vibes

So, he makes some sort of walker? Or some tanks?

Michael Rojas

You know what would really send a message? Borg Xenomorphs..

I agree with sentiment others have stated that we want to see more action rather than reaction. It's all well and good to hole up in a bunker doing super-SCIENCE! till you achieve Tech Apotheosis, but that would be boring. I want to see MC out there tearing it up and bringing change to this wasteland.

Cmols897

I wonder what Jackson is going to cook up, either way it's probably going to be a show no one who sees it will ever be able to forget

Ironforge

Well resource concerns are never going to be thing going forward now and pair that with his knowledge in fusion and other energy tech, Jackson is really only limited by his production ability once the vault is finished. So I got to ask, what is going to end up dragging him out of his lair to prevent him from just turtling up for a year or so until he can go all Tech God on the setting?

TyrTheFallen

I hope that the time between will get longer while I love all the new tech I also love Cyberpunk and would like to see more of it.

Katherine

Thanks for the chapter! :D
