I going with divinity or fabs. I'm thinking divinity likes him but sal has a habit of getting sidetracked by crafting so isn't very good at staying in contact with his friends. She's refusing to join his guild for some reason. With fabs there's an attraction there at the beginning along with the family history, since there both crafters he will be more likely to stay in contact with her compared to his normal friends.

Ok I am a new subscriber to Brian’s Patreon. I subscribe for the last book and frankly thought it was great. I am looking forward to the next chapters but would like to know if it is common for there to be a month long gap between books? Is there any updates?

Question, so did I understand this wrong but the majority of the heavy hero’s (Sal’s parents included) have all their stats increase? Which would lead to a longer average lifespan, meaning hero’s could have children longer into their lives. From what I understood, Sal was a surprise from all the wear and tear on his mom’s body. With the healing blanket thing for her, wouldn’t that help alleviate a lot of those issues? So will we see a baby Argento?

I mean... Barry's a top tier illusionist, I wouldn't put it past him to be able to bamboozle Sal into a relationship with what I'm sure he'd call his 'feminine side'.

I was pondering this for a bit, and my vote goes like this ... the boy is only 17 years old, let him grow into himself a while, like 25 or so. Heck, he probably hasn't even met the girl yet (I say girl because it's obvious from his interactions that he's strictly hetero. That would be a heck of a twist in the plot if he ended up with Barry a few years down the road!)

He's so generous with chapters each week, I'd rather see him take another week for a good refresh than burnout middle of the book. I love seeing the new chapter posts, but I'd like a happy, healthy author, too.

In a message Brian said we should expect new chapters in the middle of June as he was going on a trip to Greece. It’s officially middle of June now. So I hope we get chapters on Monday or Tuesday

I just got done this whole series a couple days ago. I think if it’s not Divinity, then anybody else is going to feel jealous because of the amount of reliance Sal has on that relationship.

1. Never say such slanderous things about Upgrade again. Though I agree it would be weird for his teacher to be a love interest. 2. I agree. agree Fabi is my top choice, but after the first meeting, they stopped interacting in the same way. I disagree that there is no physical attraction, though. Sal already said there was. 3. Not sure that I would call divinity emotionally abusive, but I do think she is unintentionally manipulative, and it would be very hard for her to ever not be, since she would constantly be tempted to shoot for the best outcomes of her visions.

Just finished rereading book four, and despite Fabi being my top pick, I don't see their relationship developing in a romantic direction. Their first meeting has great energy and chemistry, but then she sort of settles into and older sister kind of dynamic. She's a great friend and very supportive, but there doesn't appear to be any physical attraction there at all. Most of Sal's potential paramours appear to have one or the other (except Nova but she doesn't get many scenes) Hannah just held on to him as her best option until something better comes along, otherwise she would have been exclusively with him instead of shopping around whilst demanding his exclusivety. Divinity is manipulative and emotionally abusive towards Sal, and I can't tell if she's just not interested or trying to keep the peace between Sal and Barry; since she knows they're both interested. Upgrade is juvenile, traitorous and probably going to end up with Chatfield. Despite my loathing, I do think there is a way for Erica to be redeemed if she's using her ability the way I think she is; which might result in he reclaiming her humanity in the future. I assume she uses Mind Master on herself in an attempt to make herself the perfect hero, yet her struggles in book three should have shown her the all she's sacrificed still isn't enough to be the best. And not hearing Sal's inner monologue would make him a lot more agreeable company.

I knew the way people treat Sal made me angry, and that most of the characters are @#%^s, but this reread has been bad for my blood pressure. Everyone demands Sal live up to some impossible standards, but no one else. They let evil like Erica exist, but act like Sal lacks compassion‽ They use him and abuse him, lie and betray his confidence, yet perpetually attack his character. If he had a spine, or a lick of vindictiveness they'd all be fucked.

Thought I am firmly on team divinity. I was mildly disappointed that he hasn't talked to the "dream team" after he broke Lombardi's class, Nor any interactions with Barry's soon to be wife Victoria.

I'm rereading the book and in the beginning of chapter 78 it notes that Shade and his team left. A bit further into the chapter as the group is walking towards the Spider, Eclipse mentions Shade was with Villa and Chatfield... When did he rejoin them? What did I miss?

My opinion has changed a couple of times. I was pro Upgrade, but I've found some of the sanctimonious preaching grating, and I personally find a lot of the "teasing" in the books more mean spirited than friendly banter. I keep assuming Divinity has seen their potential future relationships and has now twisted the whole thing up in her head. To the point that a lot of their interactions are just awkward, but I assume she's going to be his paramour. The two characters he's had the most chemistry with are Vanessa and Fabi, but I assume V is completely off the table now. Fabi is an absolute sweetheart and is pretty much perfect for him, so I assume that won't last, since it's the relationship I'm most invested in.

Wouldn't surprise me if Sal dates another girl during the story like what happened with Hannah, but it definitely feels like Divinity is locked in as the main heroine and eventual love interest. I'm probably biased, but it just feels right narratively speaking.

Early in the series, I wondered if Upgrade had a shot but that seems like it's not possible now. I'm team Divinity though. Fabi is a great synergy with Sal but I'm rooting for Divinity anyways.

Definitely Divinity. I think Jack would be a better pairing for Fabi. Barry and Fabi could be interesting. I want reconciliation between Roche and Brophy (though, that probably isn't going to happen and give me the romance I want between them. I think that they could be a really good couple, but (as of now) it's up in the air whether or not they'll ever become friends or even be on speaking terms again). Hannah... I don't think she's a good fit for Sal. Upgrade's definitely not a good fit - they get along, but the age difference and power imbalances there are a bit.. I dunno. I just don't really see them as a couple. They've got a mentor/mentored sorta deal going on there that I really like. Now, why do I think Salinity would be best? Divinity effectively has the cheat codes to absolutely everything. She can see how almost any conversation is going to go, how every interaction will turn out, how everything will end for everyone around her. The only wrench in her power is Sal. The guy sees the cheat codes, waves his hand, and suddenly the futures Divinity saw are completely *gone.* He is the only one who has any semblance of *not* being affected by her powers, which gives him more room to be her love interest than.. basically anyone else. She's a good grounding force for his dreamer self, he's a good force of positivity in the poor girl's life. He's the person able to make her good visions come true, while she's able to make sure he doesn't screw himself up and accidentally starve himself to death while crafting. Just my take, though.

I personally miss the sal that came in all cocky and started banging co eds instantly lol. I dont even want the series to be explicit or anything like that but sal started off banging right away, gathered a group of females and now theres nothing in the romance department at all.

I’m sorry, it feels like it just fits. Divinity and Sal, best friends that would do anything for each other, that trust each other implicitly and she can get him out of his projects. And I’m sorry, she always says she doesn’t end up with someone, that usually means there is someone. And you can’t tell a person that they love you. It has to come naturally. Honestly there was no real reason for divinity to befriend Sal without other reasons. She befriends so many silver group people, but she went to Sal because he was the most important to her
